Honestly, in regular content, I do NOT care whether or not one tank or 3/4/5 hold aggro, as long as the boss is facing away from the party and proper mitigation happens, why would I care? Just hold the boss in one place lmao
It's not toxic tanking, don't associate that guy with tanking – he's just having a mental breakdown on stream and happens to be playing a tank

Why are you so pressed over some people joking around? It's like the only thing you've ever experienced online is XIV and it's "be nice all the time or get banned" policy.
I have had tanks go afk and leave group if I use rescue to pull them out of a aoe. Even in an expert or ally raid. Not sure why that's worth the 30 min debuff but it happens.

I like to tank. Tanking has taken me a lot of time to get into, due to anxiety from observing other people frequently rip into tanks. Many of them have flooded into the Novice Network as mentors, telling people, new players who genuinely are seeking to be better to "Get Gud scrub." This toxic elitist attitude is something that I don't understand, and has driven me out of FCs and has even driven me out of the game previously. I came back because I genuinely love the game, but, it's worse than I remember. The bizarre "tank fights" that break out now in 8mans+ don't make any sense to me.
I must ask, as someone just getting into the game, isn't off tanking as simple as turning off the respective tanking skill, and switching it back on if needed?
I see no reason to fight over who controls the boss, unless whoever gets it is spinning the boss around like some beyblade, lol.
Just do your best and don't shit talk, it's that simple, and we can all enjoy playing together.
Just cause you are the best player, does not mean you aren't the worst person. There are plenty of people like this in FFIVX, but there is a much higher percent in wow which is why I left.
Im glad ive never ran into someone like him. I just cleared ARR today and I entered Praitorium as a red mage right after switching to that class from ninja. My rotation was a mess but no one cared as we were moving through it without issues. I love FF14 because even someone like me who can't play more than a couple of hours week can still get on and not feel left out or behind
Man even ffxiv drama is boring lool. Fun game to play but there is a reason ffxiv gets such low numbers on twitch.
That guy is a prick and is the reason "casuals" detest elitests. It's disrespectful, it lacks good sportsmanship, and show a fundamental lack of understanding how to function in a group. Being an asshole doesn't make you cool, it just makes you insufferable.

I suck at tanking but before I left I was easily one of the best healers in all of Eorzea. I don't say that to toot my own horn. Again, I am garbage at tanking and at BEST sub par DPS. But I will keep your ass alive no doubt. Never lost a man through all of my raids and trials, even solo healing binding coils when they were "top tier content." So I left right when heavenward came out (not by choice but, personal life issues caused me to have to quit) and I JUST bought the complete edition yesterday so im excited to come back and knock off the rust and see what the game now has to offer. 🙂
Just found this video and it makes me feel so much better as a new player. I'm trying my best to do rotations and get good but I always have high level players pop in my stream telling me how bad I'm doing because my equipment is bad or I missed a positional. So thank you so much ❤️
I LOVE tanking in ffxiv, i swear they really made it easy through the years. But other tanks.. I really dont like to tank any 24 man raid anymore. Constantly aggro fighting.. Super annoying. Ofc, if someone has already the aggro i'm not gonna provoke ( just when they are dead ), but if i'm already tanking since the 1st boss and some tank randomly thinks it's time to tank i'm like ??? Can be interesting sometimes.
Thank you for always bringing the light of reality to such horrible and dark situations. You guys make new and old players feel cared about for their skill regardless of time played or even other games played.
I quit this game within 2-3 month since realm reborne was released because some1 decided that PLD was superior at tanking and no1 wanted WAR neither as tank nor dps 🙂 Everyone is so smart in games to the stupidity.
okay at first that dude voking seemed like it was harmless and hes just poking fun, then her started actually getting personal, its one to be competitive, its another to come at someone, i main tank it 24+ content simply for meele uptime boss positioning for meele dps thats it, that guy needs to know when to put his pride away

Those kind of people are mostly the most toxic since they think that they are the bost of the best and noone tanks/is better then them. + Enmity fights are in literally every 24 man content and i know that they can be flippen frustrating if you see it happen over and over again. Like ask a Monk about the Boss being a flippen Bayblade, they'll love it. Youst ask how wants to be the MT in chat at the start and stay nice even if it is hard to do. (It will be darn hard to stay nice, i know)
I try not to judge anyone based on their rotations. I know I have a lot of room to grow as a tank but i try to get the basic mechanics of each class down before refining it. I find the fact that people can be judgmental about another person when it looks like they aren't even caring is just rude. Let other people enjoy it their way. That content is weird for tanks anyways since there's so many people who use tanks to run that content, at least that's been my experience
Have I gotten frustrated when there is a main tank fight? Yes. Is that a good reason to get toxic and trash talk them? Of course not. Be nice to people.
I just have to say as someone that mains DRK, seeing someone not use MP for more than 30 seconds is triggering me. Im usually either starving for MP or taking the safer road and keeping 3k for that darkest knight. I don't know how someone can play DRK without using the edge abilities to get more damage and hate generation.

I’ve also been around a long time and this attitude is thankfully fairly rare in ff14. I get the impression that he’s being a dick for the sake of it and trying to be funny at the same time to laugh it off later over criticism. Point is, it’s not funny, never is funny, and people probably hate playing with you. They likely do this all the time when things don’t go exactly as they think they should. Really bad person to have in a tense raid because they will blame anyone but themselves if things go south.

i've been playing games since the age of 2/3 around the time Legend of zelda was out on nes in the States. im 36.
i'm not a pro gamer. i make mistakes, i learn. I also consider Soulsborne to be easy games. Platformers are not my forte and i find them hard to play. I consider myself casually hardcore, as I do my absolute best effort at any game, any content, but i only project that mindset onto myself, i do not expect this from others.

after seeing clip…. OOF i think i ran into this bozo in my ff11 endgame LS back when i was about… 23 years old. Pretty much had some scumbag thf in our raid group who would spam this emote "lots on <insert weapon> and stabs <my character> in the face" non stop, with every weapon drop. all cuz dude didn't like me… no idea why I followed raid protocol, and i was there to have a good time, not even to get gear. o_o i never rolled on anything and rarely bid for stuff.

This is the reason I didn't play a tank till shadowbringer and GNB came out. I felt like I was under a lot of pressure even in msq. Am I pulling too many? Not enough and people are upset at how slow we're doing this? Let me look up a guide on this cause people expect tanks to know what's going on and how to do dungeons. Ect ect. I always played DPS in mmos. Now I love tanking. I have a lvl 80 DRK along with the GNB, but I still feel that pressure every time I take a break and come back.
its Bozjan which doesn't matter I tank all the time in Bozjan and really its the best jobs play it in that content.
i dont think he is serious, with the burst from dark knight it isnt uncommun to steal the aggro without provoke. for me that happens very often, so i have to turn my stance off, if i dont want to tank. my favourite job is the dark knight, the game tells you to use mana in form of an damage buff, and a boring 3 skill gcd rotation.
I don't care if this guy is just messing around or what. I find him pretty insufferable.

I’m a DRK and will gladly let the other tank be MT. DRK is easy af so rotation and mana usage is “Common Sense”, so how can he complain about enmity being stolen from him?!

This guy and his type in my eyes are just ridiculous and what can be wrong with an MMO and the world in general. Even if he’s the best player in the world best basketball player in the world best skateboarder in the world for best whatever in the world . He just makes it look bad . And people that are good at anything should help teach people that aren’t in a nice way . Are used to be a very good skater not a professional but a very good one and I always tried my hardest to teach the kid to cheer on somebody that just learned the most basic trick when you can see that they’re proud of themselves. I don’t know that’s what it’s about me.
WTF? Is this primal? Mane Tank is actually a good player and helps people out all the time in PF. Not only that, but he parses well – he's one of the top warriors on primal. He isn't the type to provoke battle. I'd wager he got threat due to sheer damage. WAR in Bozja does a ton of damage. Was he running irregular? I don't know him personally but shit what the hell is this?
