  1. Large caterpillar the size of a small caterpillar is completely blocking southwest-bound road to the Glittering Basin in Yanxia. Please use caution and watch for emergency vehicles in the area.

  2. Oh hey that giant head is a B rank mark
Those are part of your weekly hunting log, free for everyone to hunt as they respawn in 5s after death
Why the empireals let it stroll around their castrum is anyone's guess

The other B rank in this zone is a giant Namazu, yes, yes
    Squeak squeak squeak

  3. – i can't believe Durmin got early access to Snake Eater Delta
    – wow, literally the ONE Lalafel imperial & he's in Doma & Durmin sized
    – Durming being able to rock the Imperial uniform is both a compliment AND an insult to their Fashion proess
    – yeah, that went as well as expected, maybe even better considering they at least fled instead of staying

  4. the scions have a habit of impulsively acting out in ways that can cause real unintended harm.
i'm very glad that this decreases in later patches

  5. Ah, Doma. Such an iconic Final Fantasy location.
If you're visiting, watch what you drink; I heard some kooky guy dressed like a jester has been hanging around the river…

  6. Oof, this is tough. Lyse and Durmin are used to fighting Garleans in Eorzea, where the Empire's foothold is limited to Ala Mhigo, and the heads of government are still in place. But Doma's been occupied for so long and the lord is in hiding, people like the kid and his sister have never known anything but this.

  7. 3:02 Ah, well this is a fine start…
13:25 Just gonna conscript the whole village, then?
14:20 You mean "Crimson Tithe", then.
16:19 A fight it is, then.
24:06 "other radical elements" funny way to talk about yourselves.
26:49 I'm slightly concerned about the notion of Lalafel Imperials.
27:36 Just, y'know, carried three people into the barracks, stole some more stuff. Like ya do.
30:21 Shame there's nothing around to melt the armor down.

  8. 28:40 Silly Dan, you found a Lalafell Imperial ages ago. He goes by "Wedge". 😀

More seriously, the reason we don't see more lalas in the Imperial forces is because there just have never been many lalas in the territory the Empire has conquered. The lala population is concentrated in the southwestern portion of Eorzea, although some can be found anywhere the trade routes have connected.

    Lala Lore Time:

Lalafells were originally from islands in the equatorial and southern seas; from maps, we might guess that their northernmost territory could have been the Cieldalaes Archipelago, which lies south of Limsa and west of Ul'dah, roughly equidistant from both. Unsurprisingly, when circumstances led lalas to settle on the mainlands, they settled mainly in those two areas.

Either adapting to their new environments or choosing destinations based on how well they were suited to them, they separated into Plainsfolk and Dunesfolk. Plainsfolk took to the meadows and fields of Vylbrand (where La Noscea is now), and Dunesfolk like Durmin, with their glare-adapted eyes, became nomads in the deserts of Thanalan. The lalas in Vylbrand became a major part, perhaps the majority, of the population of Nym, one of the three city-states that clashed in the War of the Magi; the Scholar job questline sees the WoL delving into their fate alongside a very nice and only slightly maniacal lala tank. The Dunesfolk of Thanalan founded Ul'dah.

Lalas generally dislike cold climes, probably due to a combination of tropical heritage and their small size. Consequently, they have never settled in large numbers in more northerly or mountainous regions even of Eorzea–you won't find many more lalas in Ishgard than in you will in the Empire. (In fact, I don't think you'll find any when Tataru, Wedge, and Durmin aren't in residence.)
