Hey there everyone, how was your weekend?
I am so confused by this entire dialog at 0:53. Night has yet to diswade the Eulmorans, rather they seem to be trying to aquire Minfilia moreso than protect the lightwardens. Theres also the newly proclaimed darkness sect which claims legitimacy by hoping to bring darkness to these skys. How does exausting our forces on the lightwarden help anyone in this senario?
When we defeated Lahabrea i don't think they actually died. They merely changed forms into LAHIbrea.
NGL I'm surprised we were accepted so quickly into the Ronkha's home. Unless their empire used to be a lot more multicultural, it sorta doesn't make sense that they're willing to give up their secrets and lend their aid to strangers so quickly. Yes you probably can't fake a seal but you can definitely steal one (which is what we did) and if you're willing to guard a treasure for generations I'd think you'd want more security in place.
It's kind of wild that the story mostly fits into the time slots you've allotted for this series! Mad props to the editing to keep it running on this particular rhythm of 3 episodes per week matching parts of the story!
19:12 Fanow itself is suspended over a huge canyon. The forest floor is far enough down that you can't actually land on it, as such.
What an intresting village. Their culture and naming conventions seem intrigu- LET'S GO METS LOVE THE METS LET'S GO METS
15:00 Urainger.. I know you're new to this, but that's not how Astrologian works, buddy :/
Skreee!
Min's faux pau here goes better because she's younger, cuter, and not Vaan.
It is incredibly likely that Lyda's parents were exiled vii that decided to leave the wood.
For side stuff it's nice to do in this village, since Viis live for so long, there's a sidequest with one of them that call back to old inhabitants of this world from a time not so long ago (by vii's standards) but before Durmin's time
The quest is Not Unfamiliar.
It really isn't much, just some nice flavor about a group of people the Unassuming Townviis met
24:00 Minfilia, honey, did the "Three times Elven/Elezen Lifetimes" just WHOOSH, right over your head XD?.
@5:00 I wonder if Dan will do the questline that goes a bit more into the lore of the mentioned snake/serpent protector of Ronka. If not…….
SCREE
A lala riding a crab is the sort of ridiculousness that I didn't realize I needed today 😅
Playfriends, time to follow the blue pedal road! This is your spoiler free lore comment! (Lore comments for the previous 3 episodes have been backfilled)
4:50 – On the right side of the screen, in the distance, you might spy a large crystal embedded in one of the great trees. This is called the Fruit of the Protector, and sits above the temple that Durmin will dive into. As Y'shtola notes, the Ronkans revered the serpent. But Ronkan legend states that a great winged serpent first came to their lands to wreak havoc. The serpent was eventually sealed away in a large crystal, which is The Fruit of the Protector. As time went on, the sealed serpent had a change of heart and began to use its influence to benefit the people of Ronka. As such, it is now known as their protector and revered for its strength and wisdom.
14:53 – Urianger keeps throwing cards a people, but I don't think these are even aether charged. He's not Gambit, I think he's just tossing paper cards at people and they're treating them like deadly weapons.
15:29 – I love how these Viis go from threatening to Looney Tunes. The sudden shift is hilarious to me.
17:30 – The Viis of Fanow largely replicate the themes of the Viera in FF12, with some minor adjustments. First, you can see that they're much more modestly dressed than Fran. They do retain the high heels, with even less justification since Viis (and their cousins on the Source, Viera) aren't digitigrade. They are just as fanatical and protective of their homes, but unlike the Viera of FF12, leaving Yx'Maja does not result in permanent banishment, and Viis are always welcome to return home (or at least, they are now). This may be due to the difficulties after the Flood of Light, there aren't that many Viis remaining (notably, a male Vii that is introduced in Endwalker is said to be rare after the Flood of Light, and thus very desirable to the residents of Fanow).
24:00 – Both Viis and Viera are known to live for centuries, easily more than 300 years. Almost all of the residents of Fanow remember the Flood of Light firsthand. This and their penchant for nature allows them to fulfill many "elf" tropes from other fantasy stories.
25:25 – Viera actors all use an Icelandic or Nordic accent, imitating the one used by Nicole Fantl as Fran in FF12. The decision to have Viera use an Icelandic accent in FF12's English localization has stuck, and in a way spread to all of the Rak'tika Greatwood in FFXIV. Joe Tandberg seems to use his Norwegian accent for Runar, indicating that in the First these accents may be regional to Rak'tika or have originated from Ronka.
Next time: We depart bunny girl paradise for the Ruins of Ronka.
New Cast:
Alfrun Rose as Almet (the archer)
Melkorka Óskarsdóttir as Cymet (the conjurer)
Nina Yndis as Uimet (the lancer)
💙
All hail the great serpent of ronka
– i love how hard Square just adopted Fran's accent for all Viera across all FF universes
– the real question is why aren't we guiding our forests/parks with flower paths
– La Hee!
