  1. As someone who was familiar with both Nier and Drakengard before doing the Alliance Raids, I just don't think they should've used an Alliance Raid series (usually something that provides quite a bit of world building for FFXIV) to advertise a property completely unrelated to Final Fantasy while also providing next to zero lore. Nor did it help that the glamour (while good) was very samey. And while I did enjoy the gameplay of those raids, that is also something that didn't need to be tied to the Nier aesthetic. It also didn't help that Yoko Taro's writing just didn't mesh well with FF14's imo (especially when it led to needing to wait 5 WEEKS to complete the story because of arbitrary weekly quests).

I think that things like non-FF crossovers should at most be the size of the Monster Hunter Crossover (which didn't overstay it's welcome and was all the better for it).

  2. if you take a close look at the fight scene before the transition it looks like "WoL stand-in" has a pistol in a holster on his left leg, they are probably waiting until later to formally announce it though.

  3. As far as the system requirements go I'd imagine a lot of the i5's will run the game better than some I-7's so that probably won't be a problem. I'm no expert but the actual numbers on the cpu's are pretty misleading. Like the i7-9700 came out in 2019 (I think) vs say an i5-12400 (which is what I'm using) came out in 2022.

I could be wrong and hopefully someone will correct me if I am but I'm hoping running an i-5 won't be much of a problem.

  5. The people who didn't particularly like the Nier raids (myself included) liked the raids themselves, they just didn't like the story because it didn't tie in to the lore of the game at ALL. Looking at all previous alliance raids, Crystal Tower is obviously massive for how it connects to the story and worldbuilding at large. Sky Pirates gave us a ton of voidsent lore that was able to be referenced later such as the final boss of Zadnor for the Bozja relics. Return to Ivalice led into Bozja, and gave us lore related to Sorrow of Werlyt as well as Pandaemonium.

Nier gave us literally nothing lore-wise. The story was entirely an enormous nothingburger. The music was fantastic, the setting was awesome, the bosses were clever and unique, the gear was cool, but none of that really covers for the loss of the storytelling we could have had because any other setting for the alliance raid could have had similar quality on all that while giving us lore that could lead to new revelations later.

  6. Just so people are aware, the lizard people are Mamool ja, they are from the new world and you see them around especially near and around Limsa. Also, I swear if the new melee job is Corsair, I’m so leveling it up to max. Always liked the idea of being like a sky pirate always going on adventures seeing thrills and riches across the land. This will be fun indeed.

  7. It was south Africans with the vuvuzelas, Brazil had nothing to do with that.

Furthermore, the instrument is inspired by kudu horns, an animal that doesn't live in South America at all.

  8. I love Koji Fox as well but the truth is he hasn't been the lead since Stormblood. Kate took over the legacy from Shadowbringers and did Endwalker. Koji still helps with lyrics for songs and some fun puns or just someone to consult, but he went on to do FF16 years ago. 🙂 It kills me a little inside knowing that people give him full credit for Kate and her team's work. Nice reaction though and we gotta play sometime!!!
