I tried Black Mage (or Mage of Colour if you want to be politically correct), and it's pretty great, but at low levels it feels so spammy… That said, many jobs feel spammy at that point, though I feel Summoner feels a little more interactive in its current iteration at those lower levels.
Excellent video again as always. I think my personal favourite is Red Mage though. The whole style and flavour for it feels so dynamic and fun, though that's highly subjective of course 😮
I started this game and did ever expansion as a black mage and im SO happy at where it is right now. It feels strong but most of all fun. I think my next job will be summoner but i read somewhere that you can level summoner and scholar at the same time?

Nice video! I think you underestimate the value in easier jobs though, especially on controller. Simple can be fun, just look at jobs like Reaper and Sage.
Red mage is best mage. All casters are amazing in EW rn. 🙂
TBH, I disagree that RDM is more mobile than the new SMN. In a one-minute cycle, the are literally only 3 casted gcd. The rest is instants.
Started as a Black Mage, did HW-SHB as a Red Mage, finishing as a Black Mage. And you weren't kidding about Aspect Mastery carrying low level black mage, it's the reason I was able to get it from 50-80 without gnawing my nails off!
EW casters are pretty well balanced. But SMN wins cause of big boy summons. Who else can block the whole raid groups view just by casting a spell?
Red Mage is the first magic DPS I really took to. It was highly confusing at the start, mainly because I wasn't used to caster jobs at all. I adore its mobility and the flexibility to heal and raise people. It's also very stylish in all its artifact gear, not to mention flashy with its melee combo. I like the tweaks they gave it – if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
My first day in Endwalker was spent redoing hotbars, but especially for Summoner. The rotation with it is definitely simplified, though I do kind of miss DOTs. Bard still has them, but it's no longer dependant on them.
Black Mage was the last one I got to 80 in Shadowbringers. I definitely see the power it has, but I'm not a big fan of being a turret.
