This retooled compilation of material surrounding Final Fantasy XIV’s short-lived 2010 iteration (colloquially referred to as “Version 1.0” or “1.X”) aims to provide both a more comprehensive and easier to digest version of the official 1.X story recap, “The Waning of the Sixth Sun” (originally included as a bonus Blu-ray disc with the physical collectors’ edition of the game’s 2013 relaunch).
With this edit’s more descriptive visuals and inclusion of various iconic cinematic sequences (many of which are called back to at various points in the current version of the game), new players will have a single, straightforward, engaging means by which they may learn of the tragic events which befell the realm of Eorzea five years before their own adventure begins.
