  1. Instead of "R2 you accidentally said "Right analog stick", but hopefully your viewers are smart enough to figre that out.

Ignore Debth is good when doing dungeons and mobs are constantly behind you and you can quickly target them for DOT's while running.
I assume the cone doesn't allow that and you have to turn your character a bit?

On PC it is possible to remove the camera follow on legacy, but we don't talk about that.

  2. The standard vs legacy part is funny to me as the downsides for both are both part of standard in keyboard controls, legacy has the walking backwards and the strafing.

  3. PSA for fellow Warriors of Light. If you hold down L1, by default, and press up and down on the d-pad it will cycle targets up and down in the enemy list. Much easier for target exactly what you want in combat.

  4. I've been playing with M+K on MMOs for over 14 years and I'm not about to change. However, I found your guide interesting as a mental exercise to see why people would play with a controller. It's fascinating, but just not for me.

  5. Gaijin is starting FFXIV? Whoa

Edit: i have 1000+ hours PS4, but I never knew you can cycle targets using bumpers when holding R2/L2. Thanks for the tip, gonna help a lot on PS4

  6. I use d-pad and X for swapping targets when there is a lot of adds, untarget target if there is 2-3 enemies and they arent too clumped. Honestly holding R2 or L2 then pressing R1 L1 is too weird for me, it doesn't even target left to right or anything. Very odd. I also use L1 R1 for my hotbars instead of L2 R2. I find pedal buttons unwieldy and feel like I have ping irl. It's a lot easier to claw with those buttons as well.

The Dark Souls controller grip I have devised for myself works so well for this game. It's like claw grip for a second then changes to half grip then normal then double claw again depending on what's needed. I can't even explain tbh but I got 100% control of my actions at all times nonetheless.

  7. HUGE PSA for all controller players. Enabling the additional WX hotbar with two crosses (instead of Ruri's single cross) for each side gets you 32 slots, plus I use R1 to rotate the bottom bar to a third for 48 total (third bar is for logs, teleports, etc.) . If you then enable the setting for double tapping R2 or L2 to access the second bar, you can get to 48 skills in an instant, and after getting used to it, it is significantly more efficient than any keyboard layout I have ever tried. So basically in the end, you have two entire 8 button cross hotbars per side, all in sight at all times, and you double tap and hold R2 or L2 to use the top shelf, just regular hold R2 or L2 to use the bottom shelf (like normal), and can tap R1 to flip the bottom bar between skills and useful stuff like logs.
