  1. This was an absolutely amazing raid! Thank you so much for sharing it and a huge shout out to your in game compaions- they all did amazing and have just added to the joy that is this Storytime playthrough of one of my favorite games.

(Also if anyone happens to know the name of the song that starts playing at roughly 22:10 I would be extremely grateful to know it!)

  2. Luisoux just absolutely savaged his grandchildren, great voice acting, verbal smackdown of the century. Turning into a giant bird and getting beaten up by some adventurers didn't help his case though.

  3. Thank you for letting that boss fight last a bit longer! It's nice to see some more of what the battle is like. Imo the experience of the game is PART of the story so if you just blitz through all the boss battles you kinda skip out part of the story.

  4. 1:23:50 Ali, The Warrior of Light has several other great deeds that they are actively receiving credit, honor, laud, glory, etc., etc., etc. for on a regular basis. I'm sure we can let the finer details of this one world-saving quest fall by the wayside. Really, looked at a certain way, it could be considered a regular Friday.

  5. 41:44 I love that there's no celebrating here, it's very… what's the word… regretful? It reads more as "it had to be done" than "yay, we killed a primal and saved people!", and I love the tone difference.

EDIT: Also love how Durmin becomes a potato missile.

  6. Fun fact about yalms: While they are just a fantasy name for yard the Encyclopedia Eorzea also list one yalm as the height of an adult male lalafell. So we are going thousands of Durmins deep for each of these

  7. Thank god for the better voice acting from Heavensward forward. Alisaie's performance here is not helping the scenes

Also big shoutout to Eos for herding the geese behind the scenes to make this as smooth as possible

  8. Oh, I didn't even know how good this raid series is! I haven't done it myself so I'm so happy to see you done it here! 🤩 The twins are my absolute favorites so this was mindblowing and amazing to see, thank you 💕👏

  9. for anyone curious about some of the T13 mechanics. For the first phase we didn't get to see a whole lot except for some frontal cleaves and raid wide AoE damage.
Second phase (the adds and divebomb stuff) is fairly basic. The adds dont really do anything special you need to be aware of and the divebombing works the same as in T5 except just more (and you not having the arena to help with dodging)
For the last phase Dan was correct in saying you need to stand in the black puddle in the center to survive (it grants a debuff that lowers your damage output but also lowers the damage you take from the Teraflare). Akh Morn is a fun mechanic that is gonna show up throughout the game every once in a while and always works like this: It's a big AoE hit that needs to be shared with the party to survive and on the first cast it hits twice. For every following cast it hits an additional time which can be a sort of soft enrage, especially if you're doing it sync'd.
The towers with the AoE around it need at least one player to stand in them or else they explode in a raid wide AoE which can be quite lethal.
I think that's all the interesting mechanics in the fight at least. You'll see a lot of them come back later in some form

  10. Man, Alisaie gets such a bad rap in this storyline! 'Oh no, you might want to save the world from an evil god for slightly different reasons than mine, oh no, what if your care for a family member turns you into a cultist, oh nooooo.' Jeez. (I will allow for giving her shit about getting the two assistants' names reversed, because that made me cackle.)

  11. 20:43 Imdugud? Amusing name. Is his brother named Ugitgud?

On the topic of mechanics, I continue to be impressed by how much of a variety they pull out of four base questions: Location, Distance From, Direction Facing, and Has Status Effect. No matter what mechanic you see, it'll pull from one or more of those four questions.

…Except maybe that one infamous mechanic where you have to solve math problems with your Max HP. That one amuses me. (And probably won't appear in this series.)

  12. When I played through this for the first time, carried by kind strangers in a similar way Durmin was in these videos, I was astounded that this was entirely optional content. Not just for the degree to which the story ties into and wraps up the inciting incident of ARR, but just to the amount of story there was, and to the effort that went into the presentation. I still do wish they revisited this content and made it easier for new players to experience for that reason.
