  1. I get what you're saying about it being nice having some minor quests to give a better idea of daily life, but maybe that's what sidequests are for? In an MMO, sidequests can be good or even necessary when first leveling, but can be ignored later when players want to get to the current content and level much faster when the devs boost it a bit. I definitely bounced off this game because all the uninteresting sidequest-like main quests kept me from joining my friends enjoying the Heavensward content.

  2. TBH Dan I think your tanking is fine! I have two points of feedback you can practice to show off and explain to new playerson stream:

    1) You can practice slightly larger pulls and using your defensive buffs (Rampart and Thrill of Battle now) to show players there's a reason for them.

    2) Weaponskills and Abilities will elt you "queue" inputs up to ~1s before the skill comes off cooldown, so practice the ABCs of combat. (Always Be Casting!) Newer players can benefit from practicing this, too! This is the number one way to make things dead faster or fuller health or more aggroed 🙂

  3. Despite having by now overtaken Durmin in the story of FF14, whenever both a regular PlayFrame episode and one of these goes up, you BET I'm watching this one first 😀
Tiny tank adventures are just too good!

  4. I believe some of the goblin speech patterns actually originated with Final Fantasy XI. IIRC.

Some emotes, such as those dances, can be automatically synchronized because they are designed to be performed together.

  5. Please don't ever stop these <3 Your views are getting a lot less which is sad but I hope it won't discourage you continuing this. I for myself can tell you that this is the perfect content to watch during queue times.

  6. Question for the people that are familiar with this game, is Dan actually not tanking as good as he says? I feel like he's doing fine and doing the things he says he does, but I also have no MMORPG experience.

  7. 20:44 Glances at quest title Does he? Does he really? EDIT: I believe you had the word mostly correct: "Ah-pear-ih-TEEF."
24:26 Is it crimes? Tell me it's not crimes. Those tend to do a number on one's rep.
24:57 "Vin-yerr-onz" for English, "Vee-nyerr-auw" for the French (that last phoneme is a sort of nasally "aw")
27:47 Worry not, "vintner" is pronounced how it looks.

  8. I may be late to say this, but for my money, the dungeon mechanics explanations are both helpful and interesting.

It seems like dungeons are mostly story on the front end, story on the back end, and heaping helpings of violence in the middle. Since dialog doesn't seem to happen in the middle of these big fight encounters, talking through the what, how, and why makes this time more engaging.

For example, the bit about how tanks are supposed to influence the enemy position on the battlefield was a thing I didn't know before now. Telling us what abilities you have and how they're used is great content for encouraging people who are on the fence about FF14 to try it out without feeling overwhelmed.

    Thanks for that.

  9. The WINE, this was the longest, most complicated, most painful set of fetch quests in the entire 10 level segment.

… I won't say I miss it, but … there's a few plot details that might have been moved to sidequests that touch on this story latter (MUCH latter in some cases).

  10. I seem to remember this slog to get cheese and wine being even worse in the past. I'm not sure if that's just memory or if there was a lot of cuts to here when they updated the ARR quests.

  11. Man. I completely forgot Brayflox's Longstop was part of MSQ. This is the only part of the banquet assembling I actually enjoyed because…dungeon. Dungeons are fun. Even if that one particular room right before the 3rd boss is a bit scary if handled improperly.

  12. The Longstop is one of my absolute favorite MSQ dungeons. Aiatar is just so fun to fight. And I agree about the game emphasizing little things even after you handle so many larger crises; it's good to be a Friendly Neighborhood Warrior of Light sometimes.
