Savage Dungeons?! FFXIV 6.2 Patch Notes Are Spicy

FF14 live letter dropped yesterday and there was a lot of information that was shared, but there were two important things that stuck on to me the most. Island Sanctuary and Criterion Dungeons.

  1. I am excited for all the new stuff. The savage dungeons sound awesome and painful. I am here for it. Also the island. That kind of stuff is my jam. I can’t wait! But also… dis you see those spider webs Jay?!?!

  2. Destiny 2 does a similar thing with 3-man missions called Nightfalls on a weekly rotation with 4 levels of difficulty ranging from Normal to Grandmaster. They run very similarly to dungeons typically with 2 mini-bosses and a final boss. The Grandmaster rules include no respawn with just a few revive tokens, but revive tokens can be accumulated by killing extremely powerful adds called 'Champions' and by killing mini-bosses. 20-minute revive limitation meaning after 20 minutes all revive tokens are removed. Difficulty modifiers such as elemental damage increases, extended cooldowns, regen reduced, and much more Shooter-specific handicaps. Rewards however included titles, max-level gear, and exotic upgrade materials. Sometimes on a double-reward week.

It's some of Destiny 2's best content. It attracts streamers, speed-runners, completionists, minimalists, solos, and just players looking to upgrade gear.
