  1. Aside from the heavily back loaded 6.3 that gave very little to do over the next 2 months, the overall tempo of content releases has been pretty good. I think there is more of an issue of gear distribution and a severe lack (nonexistence) of horizontal progression. I can't really complain about the amount of content over all.

  2. In my mind, FFXIV used to be a good dessert boutique. They had tiramisu, cakes, pies and ice cream.

As the years passed, they found that they did ice cream best, so they slowly killed off the rest of the offerings. They became very consistent at making various consistencies, flavors and varieties of ice cream, but not much else.

So if you love or are relatively new to ice cream – the game is heaven. But the moment you start getting tired of it, even new flavors won’t do much to keep you around as long – if at all. They essentially shrank the menu to maintain the pace and consistency. Kinda like Chik-fil-A. 😂

  3. When do you think they will drop the trailer for the next xpac? I mean we're halfway through the expansion.

I mean Blizzard does do an amazing trailer… j/k The things I saw, changed my mind on giving them another chance. After 6 months of running 7 characters through m+ on a regular basis I think anyone would go a little coo coo.

I think if they added back exploration zones I wouldn't complain. I would love more things thats a large group activity that isn't too complicated or difficult. I find things that are mundane can be pretty fun with the right people. Eventually hoping to get that T-rex. Also yes I'd love to help rebuild Garlemald. I've spent over 600 hours easily crafting….

Honestly if they could keep just doing what they've done all in one xpac with all types of content from casual to hc I would probably cancel my WoW sub because I legitimately would want to just play this. Nothing to do with anything else but 14. A deep dungeon, 14 normal dungeons, 3 Criterion dungeons, 3 unreal fights, 12 raid boss fights, 1-2 ultimate fights, 3 alliance raids, few pvp maps/modes, 2-4 treasure map item updates, crafting ward system like Ishgard Restoration, crafting/gathering/battle relic weapons, a multi-zone exploration system like Eureka/Bozja, relic armor themed around the zone, hunt trains, a new fishing zone and rewards, 3 crafting/gathering turn npcs with changeable glamor, leve quests, crafting scripts, 3 tribe quests, and blu. I've probably missed something they do as well but most of that is great content. Most of this they've done before and I think it would be amazing if I had something current to work on for crafting.

    Great vid Chris!

  4. A thing I've really loved about this patch cycle is how many of the people that have joined in the last two years have become absolutely certain FFXIV is 'dying' because it's the patch cycle doldrums and people are playing other stuff.

  5. Thank you! I am perfectly content to play XIV almost exclusively for a few reasons, I work a tough job and I'm usually drained after work so I want easy things I can do for either silly fun or relaxing coffee time. Yet, when I have two days off in a row (weird I know) I like to take on challenging things. XIV gives me both so I can feel invested in my character instead of dividing my time and money between lots of games. I also love how I feel valued as a gamer and not discredited by anyone who is ahead of me in something. I don't do savage content due to scheduling and exhaustion, but my friends or even random players I see never tell me that my humble but diverse playstyle is invalid.

  6. Tbh i think we really need some sort of "Grind Activity" really early in the Expansion. Either A Deep Dungeon, a Exploration Zone or already make the first Relic Step super grindy but the others still Grindy but less. For me as a HC Player the Time between Raidtiers are the Most boring Time and usually the Time i take a Break from the Game. Yes 2 Ultimates per Expansion are really appreciated but FF14 is also not all about raiding. The Times where the Grindy Activities usually came out is for me either to far into the Expansion Lifespan or to packed into each other. With 6.3 we get the first Grindy Relic Step AND a Deep Dungeon. That are 2 Grind Activities Back to back. So i think we need one at Least at x.1 to give us a Constand Grind.

  7. if you like ALL the content in the game there arnt really any content lows. because your always be working on something. because certain things take a long time like crafting and or trying to get a certain mount for grinding for rediculously long in the Firnament.
luckily there is probably barely anyone that likes it all and its nicely spread out

  8. I personally would like the Field Operations (Eurka/Bozja) to go die in a fire. For a game that has such a great community and in general good, welcoming players, those zones bring out the worst in people. I have never been ganked and griefed in this game more than in those zones.

  9. I hear what the OP is saying, but they may be overlooking the risk associated with Variant/ Criteon and Crystalline Conflict. Also, I would argue that "ending" the MSQ is risky. Did the OP mention Island Sanctuary? Risk for sure

I do get the point of the post, but I trust the devs there will be some risks along with predictable development time.

  10. One thing to consider is that their development cycle is typically 2 years out and we were in the middle of covid lockdowns when they were developing endwalker and all of its systems. It would do a lot to explain why they had to fall back on something like island sanctuary to fill in the gaps left by no eureka/bozja equivalent. Also explains why they tied the new relics to an old piece of content like Hildibrand, giving that super long optional quest chain a tangible goal and reward.

  11. I love how gaming has gotten so toxic that a game that works but works well is a triumph? I kinda hate that. One I get a job I might want to pick this up. I've heard nothing but good things about it.
