  1. I've put a similar response in other videos and will say it here to. For rewards, something that shows off "I completed Savage" would be nice. A nice "raider" looking gear or a mount of some kind. Any form of progress gear? No. A dumb and short sighted fix. I have said it before, if they included progress gear now in Criterion, why would the progress players run a criterion dungeon in 6.4? Criterion savage rewards would be outdated in just 4 months from now. So the incentive would be gone and progress raiders would drop it. I'll say some titles for doing it in a time limit or dps only or healers only or some weird requirement for Savage would be a better option.

  2. I'm glad it's not m+. It lets me get off the treadmill and play other games from time to time. It also encourages the devs to keep making new content. I feel with WoW, m+ is a huge excuse for the devs to stretch existing content for as long as possible to keep costs low. "We don't need to make new dungeons because m+ exists" is garbage imo.

  3. For me, the variant dungeon is like one step away from being exactly what I want. I've always wanted a solo challenge type thing, that isn't potd or hoh (I don't like the pomander bullshit), so if they were to release another variant dungeon with a bit more amped up difficulty, it would exactly match what I want.

  4. Please guys… stop asking for gearing incentives. So many people are asking for gear treadmills and forcing players into other content that will become mandatory, weekly.

People are blocking players with pentamelded crafted gear, in PF, because the expectation is now several pieces of 620 and 630 gear. If we start introducing like 625 gear in these places, it's going to further block people. I don't know if it's ex-WoW players who are Stockholm syndromed, by these gearing treadmills, or FF players who don't know where this leads. We're driving towards a cliff.

Yes, gearing needs an overhaul, but this isn't it.

  5. I like Variant and Criterion dungeons and they have good rewards for what it intends to be. It was never intended to compete or replace Extreme Trials or Savage Raids in terms of rewards and we knew that from early on.
I like figuring out and exploring the different routes with my friends, but after the initial exploration phase is over I will use Variant dungeons to assist in capping my tomestones because eventhough the routes don't differ immensely it's enough to break the monotony of regular dungeons.

  6. People need to stop asking for gear as rewards from EVERY new piece of content. That isn't fun! FFXIV isn't supposed to be a job that you need to constantly grind to keep up with gear. Ask for more mounts, emotes, glamour items, etc… but quit asking for gear. We have "normal" raids (including savage), alliance raids, crafted gear, and of course TOMESTONES.

  7. Got my silkie mount and the content isnt what I wanted. I wanted a whole dungeon that was a challenge for 4 players. Not a npc diaglogue escorter with conflicting player objectives or a back to back trial. Also this content will be dead within a week. Thiis wasn't worth the development cost. A sequel to another eureka zone would of been better over this.

  8. The thing that's weird to me is that the ilvl sync is at the max possible current ilvl, but you still don't get gear rewards. it'd be fine if you got synced to like 615 or something and not get gear, but having a piece of content that benefits from gear yet doesn't provide it is odd, people who choose to engage in savage dungeons but not savage raids are gonna have a harder time.
Imo they should make it like alliance raids where you get gear that's slightly lower than the current raid tier + upgrade mats as weekly rewards.

  9. I am confused, you keep talking about mythic + exp and how it is different. But what is that thing you like and do not find there, after watching the whole video i cant even answer (except gear that in my opinion a non subject).
I do not try to defend this kind of content cause i havent touched it yet. I am just curious about your main point that stayed unclear for me ^^

  10. That’s a choice you have to make. You want a game that is a treadmill from which you can never get off or you want a game that allows you time for other things. The core design philosophy for 14 is to make a fun game that doesn’t penalize you for stepping away — so yeah everything is designed to be completed and you won’t really get stuff that you are supposed to keep up with indefinitely. Plenty of other games do this tho so you do have a whole lot of choices if that’s what you want.

  11. I'm wondering if it would work to open up the harder difficulties for undersized parties. Cause yeah, it's not going to be very long before we'll see no one wanting to group for them and it just becomes dead content. That or maybe periodically add new rewards so people feel like they have a reason to go back. I'm personally not worried about getting overly bored with the dungeon, but I think there's a lot of people that just want that reward incentive to keep going.

  12. Variant is cool because of the lore. Criterion is cool if you like to be sweaty. but expecting rewards that are meaningful? ehhhhh its no different than a deep dungeon to me. its not for everyone. but someones gonna play it and sell that throne mount for 50+m gil LOL

  13. I was asking about the reward structure for this content ever since they announced it and hardly anyone seemed interested. I feel like I was right to ask the question now because this reward list is a big disappointment for me. I am at a point in FFXIV where taking breaks happens because I have completed a lot of the content i’ve enjoyed until new stuff comes out. For me, there needs to be good, strong reward structures in place for me to shoot for whenever new content comes out; I don’t mean grindy by the way, I just mean it has to be worthwhile.

This system is entirely cosmetic, which means it’s largely niche/to your liking. For me, none of these rewards interest me; I don’t like the Noire set, both mounts aren’t something I particularly like/will use, the emote is a lol/too goody for me, and the adventure plate is kind of meh for me. I am not saying this is bad, I am just saying this stuff isn’t for me, and it makes it very difficult for me to want to grind this stuff out.

I am a player who can’t do Savage Raiding (and I want to) because of my job and family; however, I was looking forward to the Variant/Criterion/Savage-Criterion system because I was going to be able to with my friends. Now, I am having second thoughts about this savage content because while I may attempt it once or twice to say I completed it, the rewards are just not good enough IMO to justify the grind.

I mean, when Savage raids get their own really cool shiny weapons and dyeable gear, when Ultimates get their own really cool unique weapons, Delebrum Reginae savage allowed for the cool dyeable armor, and even Extreme trials grant unique weapons, it’s such a huge disappointment that this is the reward structure we get for Savage Criterion. There needs to be a strong reward system that encourages replay-ability. While I am not 100% sold on the BiS argument (I think the Savage Raid andies would lose it), maybe this could be another path to upgrading the Tomestone gear early (akin to the Savage Raid content)? Just a thought.

  14. Tbh I think this expansion has really showcased things that have been put on the back burner for too long. Job balance, Job Rotations, Gear acquisition, Graphics, Glamour system.

It's very good to see that these conversations are being had but tbh I think they are only being had because the game does allow you to step away and experience other games. When you come back you may notice this or that that needs a change. And therefore that feedback can make the game better.

These are all issues that need to be resolved in a good right way by 7.0. It's just long overdue.

It's good content but they gotta address the issues. Adding gear even if it's just Jewelry to these dungeons would have been nice.

  15. I'm not so convinced about it's replayability. Yeah. It kept me VERY interested for a couple of days and I had a blast . . . But . . . Running some dungeons are fun no matter how many times you do them whereas I don't see much replayability in the variant dungeon once you've explored every path.

  16. The Variant Dungeon is fun so far, 9 out of 12 entries. It's structured like a visual novel with fighty bits and mild puzzles, including some detective work regarding said entries. And maybe taking a clue from one of the cosmetic rewards or lore-related dungeon if the relevant entries aren't unlocked yet (or not paying enough attention or overthinking it). I do hope they continue with it and make them more involved like having some branches converge and/or intersect.

And in regards to rewards… I think they're mostly fine. For ASS Savage, they could have done special glamour weapons for it. Not as shiny and eye-catching, or retina-melting depending on personal taste, but distinctly from Criterion Dungeon. Maybe the weapons of some of the bosses even. Besides, I'm glad that progression towards BiS is not tied to Variant & Criterion because that just sounds dreadful and the same people who now complain about the rewards would then complain about this content being "mandatory". Perhaps those people should read a book, a thick one, just for fun.

  17. I think that Variant and normal Criterion dungeons have a decent reward structure for what they are in my opinion. It's a shame that the Savage rewards are rough. While up to some extent, I understand not wanting to give gear upgrades, it would be nice if savage content gave more rewards that you could flex as something to work towards. Extremes have mounts for example, Savages have dyeable raid gear that's also BiS if it's current content along with a guaranteed mount at the end of a tier, and Ultimates have shiny weapons that you can use as glam to show you've completed them.

  18. I like the content but I really don't think it and the Island was worth sacrificing content like Eureka and Bozja. As a mostly instance-based MMO I think FFXIV benefits more than most other games in having large scale open world content full of players, it really changes the pace from story and duty finder. Also, I felt Bozja nailed the gameplay and Eureka nailed the social side and I was looking forward for what the third iteration on adventuring foreys was going to be like. Hopefully it's not a dead class of content and 7.0 goes back to it.

  19. Well this is there firstdraft personally i liek the exploration of the dungs. Also M+ system will breed alot of toxicity not saying ff is without it but we all know how m+ in wow is. Just my 2 cents.

  20. I think variant dungeons are pretty much perfect. The rewards for them are fine, and the changing paths were cool. Perfectly happy with these.

I think Criterion is a bit of a missed opportunity. I don't think it needs to be a farmable alternative for raid loot or anything like that, but I do think that having some sub savage raid catch up gear would have been a good idea. Nothing that will force people to endlessly grind, while also giving an alternative thing for players who would like something to work towards. The general design is fun though, and challenging 4 person content is a welcome addition.

  21. Three flawed things…

Variant dungeon puzzled can be undermined by the typical kid who scoured thousand of Discord servers and reddit pages to know how to resolve this ( the internet era, nobody resolves shit they look it up)

Second flaw is Savage dungeon rewards are super lame.

Third. You gotta grind a lot for rewards that do nothing but glamour. At least they should add in other priźes

  22. a throne, some okish music roll and the rest is materia, rewards for criterion is terrible i try to q a random party and waited 40 mins and nobody seem to want to play and i honestly can say yeah i don't blame them it's not worth it for the rewards u get. I just wanted to try it i don't have 4 friends in FFXIV so i can't just form a static party so yeah that sucks …. i was hoping for a mystic plus in this man… i never play mystic plus in WoW, but i have seen many videos of it and I was like YEAH that would be awesome in FFXIV that's what i wanted … i mean the new dungeons are ok but once u get all the rewards nobody gonna be playing it again.. im sorry it will die like HoH and PoTD it something to do, but man they need to shape up in this game man… i wanted harder dungeon a mystic plus type system would be amazing and gear progression would be cool man.
