If you're into the fast paced action combat of BDO, you won't enjoy FFXIV. But the raids are (in my personal opinion) more complex and better designed than any other MMO. A lot of people complain about longer GCD for example, but there's a lot of off GCD (oGCD) buttons that are weaved in between them at max level.
Outside of those high-end pve considerations, the story itself is good content (although DT's story has been lukewarm so far, since it was a hard reset on the story and the beginning of a new chapter).
FFXIV is the mmo foil to bdo. Everything bdo does well, ffxiv does not. Everything bdo does poorly, ffxiv does well
the reason i always come back to bdo, despite all the bullshit, is because nothing in the mmo sphere comes close. not hoping for a new mmo to replace bdo, just hoping for PA to stop shooting themselves in the foot
