It's not related to Crypto-Currency at all, it's factory closures due to Covid-19, several factory fires in key chains in the production of said semi-conductors, combined with massive stockpiling done by various companies around the world when the shortage started, on top of the US/China Tradewar basically meaning all the major Chinese Companies just stockpiled them (China is the largest producer of semi-conductors) And Vietnam (The second largest) simply hasn't been able to keep up production, meaning there's now up to a year leadup time on the orders. Combine that with the American Corporate lean inventory philosophy meaning they don't keep actual stock of resources, to cut overhead costs, and you can guess where that leads companies that only care about cutting costs for more profit, rather than say…providing quality products that can actually be produced when there are what should have been small interruptions to a production cycle.
