FFXIV Shadowbringers Final Job Tierlist BASED ON FUN

This list is based on how much fun I had with it throughout the expansion.
Not a damage tier list. I cannot express that enough. Like seriously. The file for this is called “funlist.mp4”.

Thank you for watching and have an awesome day!

  1. As a stormblood bard main I had to drop bard into D or even lower since they took all the support out of the kit and that really bugged me starting Shadow bringers. I also think that your talk about white mage is correct it is fun in a ez and good way. unlike schooler that has been f-cked in the ass so hard no1 knows what it is anymore.

  2. See this is interesting to me. I'm a gun breaker main, and am working on my Machinist right now.

I'd say level 40 machinist is on par with 80 gun breaker for fun. Excited to see where it bumps up too.

Calling aurora a reflavored clemency is also a massive leap, and feels a bit cheap. Is a white mages Regen just a clemency reflavor too? Lol

  3. I don't know why, but I really love playing Red Mage. Feels satisfying and interesting. Also Gunbreaker is super fun to me. I really love the combo with the Continuation in between. I live for that cooldown to come off lol. Maybe because it's like a burst of fast pace action suddenly? idk.
It's interesting how people can find totally different things fun, makes the world a wonderful place.

  4. i would say fun is subjective :p everyone has different tastes what one finds daunting an boring another may find it fun. therefore its all just personal preference lol
me for example i am more leaning toward swords and swordsmanship so i really enjoyed paladin, dark knight, gunbreaker, and samurai

  5. This is somebody who bought his way to 70 prob, if he didn't, how did you level up, level by level, but "I don't know what half the skills do." But this was a good laugh on a long car ride. My favorite part was "ninja s rank, I don't play the job much, I don't know the mudras"

  6. With the WHM point, I would argue while it is by far the simplest healer to play, getting the most out of its DPS is not “harder” but have a tougher learning curve

With AST, movement, oGCD weaving and damage are pretty much free. That 1.5s cast time really allows AST to be really flexible allowing them to get consistent damage while still being able to heal with their plethora of oGCD heals.

With SCH, you can use Fairy as your proxy, not even needing to move to catch as many party members in your heals. As for oGCD weaving and movement, they have Ruin II.

So both AST and SCH are easier to keep consistent damage with due to their options.

With WHM, their movement and Weaving options are Afflatus and Swiftcast. If you use Afflatus, yeah you can move around at the cost of using a GCD heal. Because if you’re using a GCD heal, you aren’t using Glare. If you use Swift, you’ll run a risk of not being able to Swiftcast Raise. And then there’s Dia spam… We don’t talk about Dia spam.

So all in all, yes in terms of having abilities to keep people alive, WHM is probably the best at that. But keeping people alive isn’t the only thing that healers have to worry about. That’s only half the game. The other half is maximizing your damage. Diamond Weapon is… Not that tight of a DPS check. Especially when PF does their stupid as hell Sac Strat further proves that point home. So yeah, WHMs and just healers in General can toss a few extra cure 2s and cure 3 or medica 2 and still clear well ahead of enrage.

  7. I mostly just play 2 classes (SCH and PLD) and have dabbled in a few others (RDM, DNC).
I spend most of my time on SCH. While it was gutted pretty hard in Shadowbringers (and Endwalker likely isn't going to be great either; I feel SAG is gonna steal some stuff from SCH), I find it still to be pretty fun. I also don't think it is an easy healer, but it has a lot of tools for every situation so I have an answer to almost everything; the "fun" part is figuring all that out. Still probably B at best in terms of fun.
I was toying with the idea of leveling up WHM so I have one of each of the 2 "healer classes" for Endwalker, but figured it was a boring class to play. Seeing it so high on the list is making me think I'll have to start working on that sooner rather than later.

  8. For me, AST, BLM and surprisingly, RDM, have been the most fun for me so far and I have all caster and healers maxed as well as DNC. NIN feels pretty fun too but outside the burst phase it feels a little slow tbh.
Really hope SMN, SCH, MCH and BRD get reworks. Those 4 feel clunky or like they're missing something. BRD could totally lean into illusions and psychic type shenanigans like the music is altering the mind of the enemy so we can get some cool stuff besides just arrow upgrades. And MCH I hate how ping reliant it is.

  10. Its honestly rare that I bump into a fellow Scholar.. I'm starting to wonder if I'm really the only one "maining" the job. I will admit, in some respects its kind of middling in what it can do, its super defensive, our DPS isn't really all that great.. 2 damaging skills, one DOT, one AOE that really eats into MP reserves if you spam it too much.. we certainly don't get a free mega nuke just for healing. Our job armor is kinda dumb most of the time, the books we use aren't really all that flashy compared to what other jobs use.. And I understand I'm not pleading the cause here that the job is "good" .. it really depends on how you like to play the game. I kind of think of a Scholar more as a "stage manager" .. like the guy in the chair, in other words. If you like being a team player, setting up your party/raid for success.. like that's what a Scholar kinda does. Not much glory to be gained, but dropping a shield on a tank buster is so satisfying. It has it's moments. Its also the one healing job that seems to be played most optimal by not using healing spells – using the Aether Gage ones instead. Which is weird, because you wouldn't normally think that.

It's really such a weird job. But I love it.

  11. I enjoy the RDM and Bard more than the others as far as dps goes. I enjoy WTM for healers. I'm currently leveling astro right now but can't say i'm enjoying it to much. Don't like tanking so no favorite there lol. I've been maining rdm for a while now but I'm thinking of maining bard for endwalkers. Unless reaper is bad ass then I "may" main that. We shall see 🙂

  12. Leveling as a marauder/warrior for the first time was ridiculously unfun. I quit for well over a year and came back and tried a different class and had a blast. Ive been enjoying red mage FARRRR more than warrior. Insane that war is on your S tier. Pressing 3 buttons is super bland.

  13. the thing you said about white mage can be said about a lot of other classes as well you could press much less optimal damage rotations with dps classes and do much less damage and still clear content, doesn't mean its easy, the hard part is squeezing out every single spell to the most optimal occasion. It can be easy if you want it to be by limiting the amount of buttons you have to press and still be able to clear most content if you just know the mechanics really well. It just gets hard if you try to be absolutely minmaxing your class, but sometimes this might be actually detrimental for your success because you have so many spells to use you might lagg behind thinking which spell would be the best to cast at this very moment.. but it all comes down to practice. I can press the the same few buttons on dps classes and call it an easy class and i can also click a few healing spells on white mage or i can click better rotations for more damage or squeeze out the other healing spells for better mana conserving while also damage with white mage.

  14. Machinist and samurai have the same problem with me. They have this awkward down time between skills. Kills my fingers on controller because I’m constantly pushing buttons hoping they will cast faster lol. Probably not the best, but I can only imagine dumping a shit ton of skill speed into machinist and samurai for me to enjoy it.

As for summoner, no game has gotten it right. Skyforges reaper is the closest thing to a real summoner than any mmo rpg I’ve played. The main focus should always be on the summons, not the caster. There is just something so entertaining about summoning AI to kick ass for you. Tera kind of got it right, but your summons are so weak lol.
