  1. Luckily high parses never means good players, fflogs is a blessing and a curse, I’ve dodged so many bad parties Etc, because of fflogs. Just gotta know what you’re looking at to spot a consistent good player. But also the whole hacking thing sucks because it is genuinely fun chasing high parses, and especially when savage fights have unique uptime strats for tougher mechanics. But hacking ruining everything seems like a norm right now.

  2. It is bizzare to entertain the thought of looking the other way for “cheaters” that use mods for a gameplay advantage, because you don’t want to hurt people using graphic mods. I miss the days of what u see is what u get. xiv looks fine anyway.

  3. I like fflogs and I used to like parsing, but the mentality that has developed is complete shit imo.
People will run shit 500 times, not perform mechanics, pad in some way, even go as fast as altering kill speed to boost one person.
Somewhere in stormblood parses lost their value to me. People will do whatever they can to cheese just to get a high number.
It defeats all purpose for me when you’re not competing on even grounds.

  4. Its meaningless to parse. The numbers only matter if you compare to people who were same item level as you but the website does not consider item level when setting the number. A bis will always deal more dmg then a non-bis even if they do the exact same things and may complete the duty every week. Then the numbers become invalid after next patch/ expansion comes out because people can unsync the duties. The only duty where parsing would kinda stay the same is ultimate, but trust me, you dont want parse Andy's in an ultimate fight. I seen so many people kill the full party on the easiest ultimates just to boost their numbers. This parsing boost is not new to me. The numbers can anyhow be modified before uploading them to the site. All it needs is a minimum knowledge on how to edit the file and thats all… alas if people want to dickmeasure i wont be the one telling them to stop, just dont do it in my parties.

  5. Ive managed to get a 95 on Average this Raidtier. Even got 2 99's. But for me i dont care about the Numbers. Its nice to have but in the End a Kill is a Kill and a High Parse is just a Bonus. I also dont do Parse Runs. All my Parses came from Progg,Reclears or the Time ive subed for some Friends.

  6. There are many moments I wished mods never entered FF14

As someone who modded a lot (for RP reasons) and has 7500 hours in the game: I think it wouldn’t hurt to start banning mods in FF. It’s a completely unregulated market with lots of disturbing stuff. With many people getting drawn into parasocial relationships, putting in a divide between modders and non modders, emphasizing creepy behavior and even cheating. If SE tried regulating which mods are okay and which aren’t, it would be a good step in the right direction. But they dug their hole of being anti-mod. So better just ban them entirely. And yes this will make a lot of people unhappy. But I’m not so sure if you should tolerate all this anti social behavior across the board. They have a responsibility to protect players, minors, victims and the integrity of the game. Right now this is completely absent.

Mods really havn’t brought much good to the game honestly, and I’ve been down the rabbithole hardcore in all kinds of ways. They’re almost like an addiction to many. Something obsessive.

  7. Don'ttt care, it is PvE and doesn't actually impact anyone, they are just numbers. If it was PvP and they were getting wins through cheating, that would be a different story. This parsing thing should be treated like the speed run community handles things on their websites. Video proof of run, and if botting is detected, remove their parse and ban them. Also, for the record, I think botted runs similar to how TAS bots are in other games, are very useful and can show players new tricks, save time and how to get better numbers with DPS. Many things speed run bots have taught legitimate players is… the seemingly impossible, can be possible.

  8. Already in WoW, everybody knew that Recount and other dmg meters were (and are!) just tools to flame other players and to stroke your own ego. Its the very reason SE hasnt included them in their game: they know that they invite toxicity – the very toxicity they got rid of when they implemented these (admitedly over the top) community guidelines. Competition breads this sort of behavior – and its not surprising at all that people cheat the system. As you said: nobody is going to be made accountable for this, nobody needs to actually prove that they achieved these numbers through skill. Its the same with the Ultimate weapons: I dont want to know how many of those were bought and or hacked…

Maybe its because FF14 in its core isnt very competetive that cheaters have it easy…

  9. I personally blame the existence of FFlogs for this. Games that have leaderboards will always have people who will try their best to cheat the system. If we didn't have the whole scoring system from FFlogs, then we wouldn't have a raiding community that is so adamant on parses and obsessing over FFlogs. If we didn't have people obsessing over their FFlogs pages, we will have less instances of these cheaters proudly posting their scores as if they were a major feat when it's not.

  10. I'm pretty indifferent to it, even having gotten some really good legitimate parses myself. I'd prefer SE keeping their fingers out of the game than having to worry about anti cheats, especially when most high end raiders already know logs are just an indicator of somebody. Hence why trials and word of mouth is the best way to find a group.

  11. Anti cheat would not fix this. You can do this with any old gaming keyboard with built in memory or just the keyboard software itself. No mmo I have played even with anti cheat could ever solve the auto rotation problem. What would stop it is completely different encounter design and randomized mechanics

  12. I hate the use of the word "issue" because it's a non issue at best. FFLOGs is against TOS to begin with, Square isn't going to step in to make sure the numbers on a site they don't want you to use are accurate lol.
