i can see how people would be put off by the role quests, but i grew up in the 80s where all the bad guys were 2 dimentional and horrible at their jobs. this is a cringy blast from the past for me. they are suposed to be memes, i mean if they dont scream novice Legion of Doom lol . they are unexperienced bungling failures trying to make a name for themselves but dont actually know how to do it. ive been looking forward to this final quest. sometimes we dont need a deep hardcore story, sometimes a light hearted brain turn off story has a place, it just may not be your cup of tea
Would it have been more interesting if the two sides were headed by men?
I really liked the melee story line most of the others were very meh with the healer one being to worst imo
chaotic raid guides are a half hour long I can barely sit through a 16 min video lol Not going to hard study a raid for gear that will be obsolete in the next major patch F off Square enix. xD
I am a casual player, I will do the MSQ, I will do side quests and trials and dungeons, but I am not running to do high tier content. It's a combination of just generally not enjoying being a burden on others if I keep dying and also just not having as much time as I'd like to learn the content. I generally dislike how really nice looking armor sets, or the version that is dyable is locked behind this content. I understand that this is done to incentivize people to push themselves to try the content and work towards completing it for sought after rewards, but I wish they'd just lock weapons or mounts behind these and not the armor sets. I can wait for them to be reused for glamour sets or offered on the Moogle Treasure Tome events, it is just annoying to not have access to stuff right away for glamours. I am interested in trying the Chaotic COD, but I'll wait for my FC to humor me and some of the other casuals there and do it with them than try and do it with randoms who will get annoyed if I mess up.
Honestly do not care for stuff that doesn't allow me to just que in like a roulette.
it's starting to really piss me off that 2 whole races still cant fucking wear hats, that new Dawnblazer hat is straight fire seriously wtf is going on with this ridiculous shit
I never liked the combined Role Quests. I miss having extensive individual Job Quests.
Soooo… Chat Bubbles? C:
Or… hear me out. Since it already exist in df, why don't we all start using the system that is already in place instead of using pf to complete stuff, it sounds American and European communities just want to make their life more difficult when the system is there. Idk, wild idea, maybe I am of a too progressive mind? Idk, but if something is broken you either throw it away or fix it, so if pf is not truly working because people always fake it, why do we continue to push pf as a way to "complete" things? If the Japanese servers are using pf as a learning prog and df as a complete, why don't we follow what they do since what they do works instead of what we do? 🤦🏻♂️
I feel like it would be a better idea to add bonus rewards to people queuing in DF for the fight so that we can get backfills more easily when people quit
I just don’t have it in me anymore to sit in PF for 45 mins to do two pulls and have half the alliance leave because one guy quit
"if this sounds a bit gatekeepy" – well yeah, that gate should be kept because if you're progressing a phaze in the fight it is incredibly frustrating to have others who haven't even been in the instance yet come and slow you down
The difficulty level of chaotic raid is fine. What they really need to do is adjust the drop rates of mounts for both chaotic and extreme raids. I swear some characters have the best luck with their RNG while others get crap nothing even after 100+ clears.
I forgot to cancel my subscription so I guess I'm still watching these. I need the next major patch to come out already, hopefully with Cosmic Exploration this time, so I can actually play the game again.
tbh i hated the role quet the pelu lol… i think its so bad lol
with how mild the tone for the whole expansion has been (seems like they're shying away from being serious at all ) this saturday morning cartoon style stories are a bit lame, but unsurprising. Would be nice if we got more hairs and hats on viera and hrothgar though
Instead of check points they should have made Chaotic a full 24-man raid with multiple fights, each fight cleared should let you access a portal to zone into the next and then give more chances at getting the armor, minion and mount drops along the way and having the marketboard items as part of an extra final boss loot chest instead of demimateria shenanigans.
I've been too scared to join a party because I haven't even cleared Chaotic yet. I've seen up to midway through phase 2, but not beaten it. I also haven't seen any or very few groups allowing people who haven't beaten it yet. 🙁
I enjoyed the role quests in previous expansions, I'll be honest this time around I skipped most of the cutscenes story and just cleared them as a checklist of something I needed to do, but I wasn't really interested in them. I love FFXIV but I've just found dawntrail to be very yawntrail and struggled to engage with it.
still not sure why some many people are having trouble with chaotic 🤷♂️
I never encounter once a chaotic pf that recruit new players as the main focus. And the fight is just bullshit, waiting in pf for 2 hours for a group to fill then the practice ends without even seeing pphase 2. This fight is absolutely more difficult than m4s..
I actually enjoyed the role quests for some reason. Probably because unlike everything else apart from Arcadion, Wuk Lamat wasn't crowbarred in, but also the villains in it were extremely dangerous, but treated it all like some grand comedy. The world-shattering threats on display being taken so lightly by the antagonists causing them sorta reminded me of Zenos, whom I hated at the time, but now represents better times.
Still doesn't change how anemic casual content is, or how most of the people playing Chaotic just seem to hate casuals in general. Even the role quests will just be super-condensed and short because it's been "too much work" for them to make individual job stories anymore.
Dawntrail continues to be an expansion that the majority of players could have skipped until April (if not later).
Me I'm still scared to try my hand at Chaotic. Still trying to build up the courage to try Ultimate in some areas let alone Chaotic raids.😳😱
Its hard to take them seriously as bad guys when they openly talk about their plans in public within earshot of other people and they don't even do anything to silence them
I left 7/8 P2 prog parties in one day because there were multiple cut-scene watchers …
yes, checkpoint would be awesome for all content.
Personally I think that the Chaotic raids should have been 12 man. 3 groups of 4. Would be far more manageable trying to get 12 people to work together than 24 AND it gives it longevity when its no longer current popular content and the ques get harder to fill. Just my opinion. Hope someone says that to devs to keep in mind for the next one.
Hated the role quests, i was cringing the whole time. Trying to be funny is not funny. Meoni I really feel they missed a golden opportunity that would have made me ignore the half baked feel of the villains and their motivations; in the melee questline they could have had us fight ourselves (like in an earlier Devil May Cry). Would have been EPIC FUN! Instead he mimics us to cause political chaos and then just drops the idea. Why would you not take over the abilities of the strongest warrior. Makes no damn sense!
Just a heads up, the 7.16 patch should be coming out Jan 21. This release information was provided in their live letter that provided 7.1 patch details.
When will we get more story content?
I don’t think we need that elaborate pf settings. The fight should be designed better. It’s awful not being able to rez someone who falls from the tiles because their body respawns all across the arena. Why we can’t jump between the tiles and the platforms? That debuff that prevents you from jumping is just a cheap way to make the fights “harder”. Solely on mechanics the fight is ok. But those little details make the fight feel so frustrating. Specially given the number of people in the duty.
I agree that something needs to be done about people using third-party tools to decide who to invite. That partially created the issues with high-end raiding in WoW. It started with gear scores and progressed to what content you've cleared, who knows how far it's gone now. We don't need the elitist mindset that spawned from that in this game.
Weird seeing the comments here (and hearing Meoni in the video) as I can't stand Hildebrand but mostly enjoyed the Role Quests. Are they the best ones we've had? No, but I've found them generally enjoyable.
As for "crashing" the market on a few items? Who really cares? First, the prices won't drop that much relatively as it will still take multiple clears to get the item and boo hoo if you've only made 500 million gil already and won't be able to make another 500 million gil as easily. There already isn't much to do with gil in the game anyway. If you make a little bit less it's not the end of the world.
Anyway, I just think the Chaotic raid is bit of a fail. Not because it's generally bad content or because it has poor rewards or anything. It's a fail because all it really did was give more content to players who are already the most served in content. It's more food for those who already do "hardcore" content while those who just want more longer lasting "casual/midcore" content are still left starving.
