FFXIV – Moonfire Tower Speedrun – New World Record (Any%) – 41.650s

Another year, another record! It’s good to see I’m still able to keep improving. I know last year I said I’d focus on the Classic route in 2024, but why not do both? Expect another video soon… ;3

This year there seem to be a lot of people doing speedruns, be it casually or competitively, so it’ll be interesting to see how things evolve in the coming weeks. I’m happy to see all the activity!

Apologies about the audio. My virtual audio interface needs to be reset every time I start the game for it to pick up sound and this time I forgot to, so I had to add the background music on post and no sound effects are present as a result, which is really disappointing for a run of this caliber, but it is what it is.

No sketchy jump macros were used in the making of this or any other of my published videos at the time of upload, although it seems to be in the process of becoming the new meta. I haven’t had to resort to such cheap tricks so far to stay on top, but I don’t discard the idea if people start shamelessly using them to compete. I’ll always be transparent in the case I choose to use some at some point and share my reasoning for it. It’s not something I’d do for the sake of it.

My current personal stance is that jump macros are straight up cheating as they take away a lot of the skill needed, greatly reducing the difficulty. The way I see it, all inputs should be 1:1 for things to be fair, but if the community decides they’re fair play and skill alone can’t get me the win, I’ll have to be open minded and adapt to avoid playing at a huge, unfair disadvantage. Luckily, we haven’t reached that point yet, so for now I can continue to have fun, challenge myself and experience a well deserved sense of accomplishment when I triumph.
