  1. I'm scared of Dawntrail's story being worse than Shadowbringers. If that matters, no. I'm pessimistic that it's going to not be as good..
Want to raid the Ultimate fight for 5 months straight because you're an average person with a 9-5? Yes! 😀 lol

  2. friends list are all offline (beside who go to clubs)
guild dead because most ppl are not playing for last 2 patches +
ff14 feels so weird that often time even those big patches dont bring many ppl back like in others games, only start of new expansion and end of it last month or so….
but if you are club enjoyer and etc game always relevent for you because they play it like a second life.

  3. For new players it is worth it for the amount of content they get.

For legacy or players that have completed most of the game, its a toss up on how much you love the game vs how much content is left.

As the later player, the down times are the worst cus there is nothing to do during the patches once done.

  4. After playing the genre for over 25 years and having worked in game design, I 100% believe that FF14 is the best value for new players when it comes to an MMO. Compared to WoW and GW2 I have by far had the easiest time getting new players into FF14 and the highest success with sticking to the game. The gameplay isn't perfect but everyone is generally happy with the visuals and design, the story is good enough to entice players along (most get hooked in HS which is great), and the progression of dungeons does a great job to teach new players mechanics. The issue with new players isn't really the game itself but that MMOs tend to be less popular with younger gamers and older gamers may no longer have the time to see proper value in investing in the game. I also see a lot of new players not necessarily quit, but play less often because they feel combat rotations are too complex and that later dungeons and trials have too many mechanics. I've played MMOs long enough that I don't feel that way, but I can empathize with them being overwhelmed.
The real issue that I've been seeing is with returning players.
I see plenty of hype for Dawntrail on social media, but in the real world I'm just not seeing it. After the launch trailer's full release and the new jobs announced I kinda polled my 3 FCs to gauge interest (two in NA and one in EU) and I found most players that had a lapsed sub weren't very interested in Dawntrail. Not to say they wouldn't play it, but they just weren't interested and were more curious about post-release content. I was more surprised to see many of them even considering going back to, or starting out in, WoW instead.
Personally, I agree that Dawntrail hasn't grabbed my interest. I was especially disappointed to find there was no real hook to going to Tural, which takes me out of the story before it even began. But I still adore the game and have never unsubbed, nor have I ran out things to do. I think the devs have more than earned my trust to at least give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

  5. I've started playing the FT on PC, I've even talked my BDO obsessed wife into trying the Xbox beta. The rotation videos I've seen have made my old man hands ache, figure I'll never do high level content but that's been the case in many games for some time now. The controller interface is very different from any other games I've played and will take some time to adjust. I like that I can use the controller alongside a m&k.

I mostly played single player games until I picked up Destiny during the beta, played about half of D2 but got sick of the way content would just disappear. From there I went to ESO and then BDO, the story content in ESO is ok, BDO is pretty much story free. I'll be playing both ESO and BDO while I play the FF14 FT. Eventually, I'll probably drop both ESO and BDO then sub on FF14.
