I've noticed that you have alts. Would you recommend making an alt as well?
Considering the glam you use has several pieces from the Ishgardian Restoration I'm surprised you didn't mention that.
Another tip for the zodiac weapons is to look ahead at the steps you will be doing later on. For the free trial, one of the items needed for crafting can only be gotten from a specific set of treasure maps which you can only get once a day and it isn't a guaranteed drop. So getting ahead on that grind even if you aren't on that step can save you literal weeks of time – or months if your rng is particularly bad.
Edit: Also, be sure to see where different systems connect and can be done together. For example, the beast tribe quests can get you currency that can be used to get items for your relic weapons. Some of the Alexander raids do that too! Everything connects in some way and the more systems you explore the more you can see those connections.
And here after about 300 hours on trial, I was thinking maybe I should start a sub?

A part of me wishes I spent more time in the trial to do some of these because of the time sink, but it's like you said, some people are in it for the story, etc. So it depends on your goals and how much you enjoy side content.

You should have mentioned The Gold Saucer in general. Chocobo breeding is a time sink, if you want to get good at Vermillion then that will take time (I think never played but it seems complicated) and getting all those prizes, especially with the 4 million MGP mount. There is no advantage to being a full sub, so if you want to do/get any of those may as well do it in the trial.
Tried to get Necromancer several times but my luck doesn't help, had DCs in almost all of my runs in any way you can imagine so i ended up giving up.
Wait, trial players can’t do PvP? But PvP is one of the most fun bits of the game, right alongside gathering!
