  1. I want their single player titles to be strong. 8 and 13 were pretty big let downs – though XIII had very good initial sales and looked pretty, it wound up in bargain bins just as fast – and how it got two sequels I will never know

  2. Problem is making good AAA single player titles is difficult and not so profitable anymore. Lots of dev costs and difficult to reach really good sales numbers. XIV gives them a steady stream of income which is good. They should do more of these good gaming โ€œservicesโ€ for more steady profits.

  3. just like the 80:20 rule where 80% of your positive result is coming from 20% of your effort. iโ€™m happy that it seems management is seeing this and are devoting more resources to Yoshi Pโ€™s team which we see by their plan of further improving the game and adding more and more fun stuff. i love this game and i want to believe SE sees the success and really take good care of the people that make it happen.

  4. I wanted to get into A mmorpg game and researched which is best. Long story short 2 main factors made me pick FF14 which was the free trail so I can test play the game to see if I like it and the other is Pint's videos on FF14.

  5. People seem to forget that SE got downtimes. They do release some new games however those games were not even heavy hitter games. The two heavy hitter games they had that was release last yr was only endwalker. And then they had the ff7 remake a couple yrs ago. Their next big games are gonna be next yr and im sure they will make tons of profit with remake part 2 and ff16 release dates that are close within each other.

  6. Kinda creatively using numbers to show a uncomplete and false image.
There hasn't been that much squarenix single player games released the last quarter. So it's kinda normal that that the HD-games income is lower.

FFXIV is doing great, yes. I'm a huge FF fan and have way to many hours in FFXIV so I am very glad to hear a 21% increase. But does it carry the whole company? I doubt it.

And fuck NFT'S but even the NFT's statement is taken heavily out of context. Square did not sell their western studio's because they want NFT's. They could easily pursue NFT's without selling their western studio's. They just noticed that developing and publishing western games is not their strong point so instead of spreading out in this losing battle, they decided to focus on their core quality, making non-western games. And this discission happend to fall in the same time as they want to explore (aka research) new emerging technologies that seems to be the hype right now. Things like AI, Cloud gaming and NFT's.

  7. It wouldn't surprise me if next year ends up being Square Enxis's best year since FF7R2, FF16, FF14 Expansion will all come out in the same year. As a fan of those, next year is gonna be GOOD.

  8. I think it is safe to say that Yoshi-P will be the first to ever achieve an MMO successor juggernaut. What I mean is that Everquest 1 was huge, but EQ2 was not. There is no wow2, etc etc. But I can see FF14's successor (even with ff14 continuing to roll on like ff11 has), will be an absolute mega juggernaut as long as Yoshi's name is on it.
