FFXIV: Endwalker Lancer/Dragoon 1 to 90 Leveling Skills Guide

New? Got too many skills? Made the mistake of using a level skip and have no idea what anything does? Just hate reading? Try this guide out!

This guide seeks to teach new Dragoons how to Dragoon properly, without getting too deep into optimization. I’ll be showing off and explaining some openers but not delving too much deeper beyond that and general skill usage. Endgame is a long way away and there’s lots to learn along the way. Start slow and work your way up one skill at a time! Then, graduate to more advanced guides.

  1. I'm the type of player whose the in middle ground of jumping. Always have been. Got totally comfortable to the rhythm once I got the Job Stone. Still every now and then I double weave a jump pre-6.1, but now, I sometimes triple-weave lmao. I honestly thought other melees had a similar pace with an unboosted SKS, cuz I started lancer, but I quickly learned DRG is the odd one of the bunch.

  2. I'm guessing the foreshadowing part at the end is about SAM?
Is there a single person in the world happy about the removal of kaiten?

  3. I honestly hope the 6.2 changes are more Qol type changes. Stuff like dragon sight being streamlined to something more workable then one of the small handful of skills you actively want to macro for convenience. I’ve got like, 7 Macros for team members 2-8 just because of particular jobs.

  4. Alternative title: how to dunk on Mario, Drake & Future, and Michael Jordan in 40 minutes or less.

Gotta say, been looking forward to this one. Dragoon has always done flashy well, and that train analogy feels right. it might take a few more seconds but you'll get crushed pretty solidly. Awesome video and looking forward to more as always.

  5. Ahh I'm so happy I've been hoping you would get around to dragoon again! Your guides are the reason I understand rotations in the first place (only been playing since October). First thing I do when I start a new class is look for one of your videos. Thank you so much!!

  6. As for the potential 6.2 changes: I believe they're going to axe Life Surge since it's basically just a glorified "buff FT/HT or 5th combo hit" button that doesn't really add or subtract from any resources. They could simply add potency to HT/F&C/WT and AOE buttons. I don't think DRG "mains" would miss Life Surge to the same level SAM "mains" do Kaiten.

I would like for Dragon Sight to be less "clunky" in it's primary usage, but wouldn't mind it going the way of the Dodo bird and have a portion of it's damage rolled into Lance Charge, OR adding a +5% raidwide damage increase to Battle Litany on top of the crit it already provides.

Changes outside of this is when things get kind of scary. To me, DRG is basically the BLM of Melee when it comes to being a consistantly enjoyable job for several expansions in a row.

Lowering the level DRG (and NIN/Healers?) acquire AOE at should've happened years ago.

  7. DRG is my favorite job, even though it's one of my worst DPS. Thanks to your guides, I think I'm still pretty decent at it, though. I remember in the early days of my playtime, I used to just use jump after full thrust no matter what because it seemed like a cool combo!

  8. Started with DRG from the very beginning and still levelling as main first job (currently Lvl 73). In the Legacy DRG video you had the jump order as Jump > Spine shatter dive > Dragonfire Dive, I was just wondering why Spine shatter got moved to the end? I assume its burst damage window is better or just animation timing, but wasn't too sure of the exact reasoning, unless I missed it.
Also your vids so far have been really helpful to me for getting the essentials of how the class functions.

  9. Noooooo you reminded me they are planning to change DRG 😩. Honestly though, you can tell DRG is the dev team's favorite job. In the last 10 job patches it has only ever gotten better. It is easily the most fun I have playing this game and I always get a huge dopamine boost by poking monsters with my pointy stick
