  1. I know you kind of made fun of the mindset, but tanks being able to switch between tank and dps was actually fun. Dark knight is a complete shell of it's former self. You just don't know, man. You just don't know.

  2. The whole tanks in DPS stance wasn't as bad as it sounds. We used to start the fight in tank stance, do the aggro combo that no longer exists a couple of times then swap to dps stance and do our normal openers and rotation. The rest of the party all had their own threat manipulation skills that either reduced their threat output , reduced their actual threat amount or in the case of Ninja actually transfer all of the Ninja's threat to the tank for the next 10 (iirc) seconds which was actually a surprisingly large amount during trick attack windows. It was an interesting little mini game of balancing your own threat vs the Samurai parties threat but it could also be an utter pain in the dick when you had people that just wouldn't use their threat tools.

It's definitely better that it's gone though along with aggro combos that flat out had less potency than your 'standard' combos. It was an unnecessary set of extra buttons that most tanks would use maybe once or twice per fight without really adding anything that wouldn't be missed when it was removed. When I first heard that the skills were being removed I, along with many others, was worried that tanking was being "dumbed down" for want of a better word and to an extent it was but it definitely feels more comfortable now and allowed the devs to give us some very cool abilities in return without increasing the number of overall abilities.

  3. My MNK cried when an AST Arrowed me. Every freaking time.

    "Stop giving me Arrow!!!!"

They'd all respond with, "You look so cool on my screen! It's crazy how fast you're attacking LOL"

An Arrowed MNK was a useless MNK LOL

  5. Maaaaaaaaaan, I miss WoW hunter volley. thought of doing classic again, just for that glorious AoE "kill an entire pack of mobs" button. doing the Tournament dailies in Wrath just consisted of me facepulling every mob, then casting volley once, and watching them all die.

  6. I'm with Asmon on wanting to go back in time to see everything before it got to where it is today. Maybe one day the devs will create like this little area where we can go in and see the past builds of the world and areas. Kind of like how the made it so we could enter finished dungeons and explore, look around, and do whatever without mobs or bosses to worry about. But for now, at least we have people like Larryzaur who managed to record some of those old forms of places.

  7. Tank stance, cleric stance, and bard casts added a lot of complexity that was pretty enjoyable if you were a high end main of those roles. Comparing it to people who bitch about them removing dumb inconveniences is one thing but all of these things actually resulted in much higher skill caps with how they interacted with the kits of the time.

The dps checks have been there also it’s just this is a historically big stat squish right now in shadowbringers. Characters are far stronger in previous expansions than they ever have been while scaled down and a lot of the things like checks and mechanics are ignorable with the way the expansion bloat has been balanced this expac.

  8. A player will always… ALWAYS take the path of least resistance. No matter age, gender, skill level. If they can get away with pulling trash, trapping them, kill boss and leave for the most rewards per minute, they will do it. This is why, if the dungeon gives good rewards or quest items, always put them on the last boss or shit like brayflox hard will inevitably happen.

  9. The casting shit for BRD is exactly what caused me to stop playing. I was told I was stupid for not liking the new system. I mean I am stupid, but clearly not delusional given how it turns out nearly everyone (now) agrees. Lesson learned: People don't know shit.

  10. I've come to the same realization about players optimizing fun out the game. You can't assume that your players will simply do whatever's most fun. More often than not, they'll do what they're encouraged to do. That's why "fixing" bad content by simply tacking extra rewards onto is a bad idea. Because people will play it, hate it, keep playing it, and keep hating it.
