I hope they at least tie the relic grind to something like criterions or deep dungeons. Not because it matters to me, but because I really don't feel like being hit by another wall of moaning about "le boring tomestone grind pls make us spam crystal tower again that was real SOUL"
If it means i can do more hunt trains and reach for achievements, I'm down for more tomestone grinds đ I really don't mind it but it also would be nice if they said that this or that dungeon gives extra tomes or we now need an extra item… Or like we need to grind light ^^ all in all, im good with what's coming ^^
imo they're changing relics to be more accessible for newer players encourage those who are more casual to pursue into the more difficult content . more engagement is always better this is a fundamental of game design
Tomes for the next relic step is fine. No complaints
I think that I have a strong preference for the current relic system. Being able to just get the weapon I need or want is so much easier and having it to actually do content otherwise is so helpful. Like, if we have a grind again in the future, I think from a design perspective Bozja and Eureka are cool and fun, but gating relics behind them makes it so hard to even get them due to time commitment. And that's not even saying anything about the difficulty of pursuing relics from those zones after they're no longer relevant content. I'm happy to be able to just have some fun on the side with the Hildebrandt stuff and get the relic with less grind. I think this will become way more apparent once we hit the last stage of Endwalker relics because people will be happy that they can get multiples much more easily. If I have to grind content, I think it's fine for the content itself to be a story and have meat to it and to have rewards, but the tools you use to complete it shouldn't be the final reward. It definitely feels like such a huge time sink to commit to. If people want anything about relics to be associated with a grind, why not let it be alternate relic appearances? Still something to work towards but doesn't gate your stats.
My opinion on the relic weapon is that with the tomestone grind, it's almost inconsequential and you just get relic weapons by playing normally, so they feel more like catch-up weapons than relic weapons. That's not great. That said, the ShB relics feel almost unattainable at this point because Delubrum Reginae is basically off the table.
I would prefer something deliberate to grind, but without it being such a pain like DR. Grinding fates would be a great alternative.
LA HEE
I also think most people's issue is that they do not have access to more vast amounts of casual scaling to harder content to play in the meantime between patches. I don't think relic grind is the solution, it's merely the only thing people think of because it's all they have experience with. I personally think that the patches should introduce cool zones to explore like Bozja and Eureka or more narrative content and things like other rewards you can earn because the reality is that people are upset about a lack of gameplay at their level, but the idea that it has to be a relic grind feels like a very narrow take.
I find tomestones grindy another and have not interest in another thing like Rureka or Boyja
I can understand why some people donât like the current relic system. It lacks a lot of direction. But for me, Iâm happy not to have 9 additional types of currency cluttering my bag. I can slowly upgrade weapons by doing a variety of things. Iâve been doing all sorts of things, like getting into housing, trying triple triad, finally starting to understand bozja and enjoy it. I caught up with MSQ during 5.3 and have basically been spending the time since then catching up on everything else.
Perhaps a combination system where you only got one type of special currency (gainable in different amounts from different types of duties, kind of like mogtomes) combined with some one weapon only achievements (Clear variant dungeon x times, for example) might be a better compromise to give both direction and ease.
I was really looking forward to a relic grind⊠either like Bozja/Eureka which I prefer but even the prior system. It was nice having something to work towards when thereâs not much else and I donât want to high end raid. The grind is accessible content for everyone. Why alter it to make it easier to raid?
I thought the LAHEE was in my head đ
On the topic of crafted gear, I have personally never really liked the crafted crafters gear design, they always seem uninspired, for the end game combat crafted gear the master two star is simply a recolor of the PvP Wolf Mark Republican gear, and the three star master gear just feels… Well again recolors of each other, I mean casters/healers were always this usually there was a little more variation. So the 2 star gear you may as well get the PvP variants if you want the looks, and the three star are not much better then the current last dungeon (610 vs 605) well jewelery aside as there is no PvP version.
Rinascita Coat of Healing which is the three star chest piece, it is only really selling for 100k-200k on primal at the moment, with Palebloom Kudzu Cloth and Titanoboa Skin both needing to either be bought on the market board or spending tomestones, which are needed for the weapons, they really are not worth the investment unless you are a savage/extreme or unreal level raider.
On the topic of Manderville weapons, honestly just tomestones feels… bland and boring, in past expansions we often had to go exploring, visit old dungeons and zones. This would feel better to me then looking at roulettes every day and burning myself out. This would be even more fun if each job had a different set of dungeons/zones to do. I mean I am an omni crafter that has made about 600 collectables for scripts to turn into materia to penta meld, to boring monotonous work is not new to me, but these tomestones needs are just draining.
Always good to see a Japanese interview, rather than you know the leftist western interviews constantly trying to push their horrid political agendas.
With how poor the reception has to have been for this relic step I wouldn't be too shocked if we got an announcement for a 7.0 exploratory area at some point.
With the exception of the three mandatory raids I think Bozja on the whole improved upon Eureka's concept (though notably not zone aesthetics. Bozja was ugly) and if they can take away the right lessons from their previous mistakes then we might just get something great.
Or we'll be doomed to mediocrity as they attempt to cater to the lowest common denominator.
its freaking hard to catch up on this game i almost got every class at 80 as a new player going to start endwalker and this game just keeps going and going like a train
Because in Japanese savage is named Rei Shiki é¶ćŒ which translates into type zero if word by word. In Japanese anime culture, reishiki seems always stands for something prototype and powerful and cool <_<
I just want to know when we are getting 7. đ
Happy with collecting tombstones people forget we had to grind out the hildebrand quests to get to each stage so it's not like we are doing nothing.
I was really hoping they'd tie the Gold Saucer into the relic weapons. Whether doing certain things in the saucer, or buying components with MGP.
Will say that the use of tomestones has kept reagent prices high.
Nice to hear the last tier of pandaemonium will be "crunchy" though i do hope the normal version will still have some cool spectacle or even some cool transitions so it stands well even on its own.
So, it sounds like I can have different spots on my Island: On the beach place (lemonade stand), outdoor eating (Red Brick Kitchen), gazebo, deck, vantage point (benches). camping (nomad tent).
Wonder how close I'm getting đ
People with no houses still donât have an option for cross-breeding, and I donât find that to be fair. Even if they had like one 2slot plot it would be a great delay in time, and tons of things soak those items up so it wouldnât flood the market w Glazenuts or TOnions
If there is no Goddess of Cheese, then why is there a Devil of Cheese named Brayflox Alltalks?
Great Coverage! Thank you for this. Was pretty informative i'd say <3
Welp… guess my Mistletoe will stonks again on the Marketboard while everyone is wasting their tomes to get a weapon that has less prestige than a MogStation skin. I would much rather have actual engaging and social content like Eureka or Bozja, but I'm a glass half-full kinda guy.
just like with 2nd step, i'm very disappointed about it being "just the same thing"; I get it, it's probably to try and please most people since there's always the complainers about this or that "ugly" step, but it does look bad when you have the lazy route of copying the exact requirement for each step. First one was fine as tomes like ShB, they could've just made more options in addition to tomes for later steps, but oh well… It's gonna be just "grind out 5000 poetics and you done" in next expansions, not even the HW variety of steps…
Meoni you forgot to turn on your deep radio voice
Nooooo Meoni not a light grind anything but that. Iâll take books instead please. Anything but light.
In reality Iâd like if they had introduced another Hildibrand trial or some dungeons or something for the relic as well as making you run existing content just like ARR re,itâs had you do. Even FATEs or since itâs the Manderville weapon what if we had to do some Gold Saucer stuff?
If we get the same tomestone dump relic step, this will be the worst relic they have ever done.
"There is no goddess of cheese but Menphina comes close." You sir are too much
IMO limited jobs are pretty wild from an implementation standpoint. BLU has its own quest series, a personal arena with its own rules, and has to incorporate all the enemy spells in the game. Creating another limited job would be asking for a similar work load, and I don't see how you sanely do it unless you hire more people specifically for special content.
As a savage raider, I like not having to do any real grinding for the relic. Doing savage is a grind itself and takes many hours.
Back when it was first announced I really thought you'd have to do the old hildebrand trials to get your relic material
If the next step of the relic is just bloody tomestones again I will absolutely flip out. It's been so damn lazy thus far. What I want, is a bit of a grind with some decent story attached to it…. or heavens forbid, they come up with something new!
i dont mind the tomestone grind at all but i could imagine it being frustrting for high end crafters cause those tomestones are also used for materials. i for one personally hated the instanced locations linked to relic weapons. i dont mind the light grinding from old expacs just dont lock content behind savage content cause not everybody does that (it would be like forcing ppl in to PVP for the WoW MoP cloaks many moons ago….if you remember this you feel my pain lol). if they cave like an additional glow as a savage reward fair enough but dont force ppl to do content thy dont want to do for the love of the 12 yoshi-p
I wouldn't even know where to begin lol The game is going in the "Safe" direction with all forms of it's content it seems like, and there's no room for players that enjoy Grindy content. They took the one content that's meant to be grindy(relic) and turned it into 1hr content with little to no replay value like the Exploration zones. But at least they gave us Deep Dungeon..the only thing current that has some replay value. Ik it sounds "Doomer postig" lol but 7.0 I'll see what this "new" direction they'll be taking us in. I'm at a point idc for the story anymore, because it's over. I'm hoping these next ten years is used expanding on the systems we already have then adding in newer stuff. It doesn't have to be a full ten years of just expanding. I'd really perfer they offset MSQ Expansions, and introduce an actual Expansion "Expansion." So every other expansion is MSQ oriented(or mini arcs like they talked about) if that examples makes any sense? Oh and more attention for PvP and adding in "newer" Traditional PvP Game modes would be awesome! Make PvP have it's own overall Leveling system too outside of PvE and the Battlepass that you can Prestige. Ya'know, basic PvP systems & modes lol
The devs have so many forgotten systems in this game that started off amazing, but took it no where. Chocobo Racing? Vermillion? Squadrons? Egi-glam? the list goes on and up next Island Sanctuary. That imo is another issue to, the game has so many different "Bubbles" that don't interact with each other; like you'd expect in a MMORPG, like Island Sanctuary and it's very own Tomestones. XIV isn't a RPGMMO or even a MMORPG anymore(or at least that's my opinion given the current trajectory and watching all the different systems become less than a puddle deep in depth over the years), this game is just a Social Hub like VRChat, or better yet for players that really enjoy The Sims. Players on the normie end just seem to want more Single-player Story element and don't care about anything else that make a MMORPG a MMORPG. I guess I'm just holding out for hope with 7.0. I'll still get it, and play it, but it will probably be when I stop playing this game once completed. I'll hold out for the next FF MMORPG, and pray that goes in a more Sandbox direction (a mixture between XIV and XI 75ERA would be awesome imho). That being said, this is my opinion/view of the game's current & future state of the game when it comes to Grindy content and overall the experience of FFXIV moving forward. And tbh, what really pushed me to care less and less about the game is the Devs reworking AST from 4.X to 5.X. I got over it quickly, and enjoyed it a lot. But then they rework it again for EW. I was like Fine. This is BS but okay, I'll relearn it. Now, they're reworking the job once again. I'm so done with it. Apologies for the doomer post haha
