Hi Gamers,
I’m deviating from my usual content because I need to get this off my chest! I ranted during my ocean fishing today so clearly this is a sensitive topic! Just because you are seeing dozens of videos on a particular topic, with thousands of views, does not mean the information is relevant to you, or that it’s a popular opinion. It simply means it’s presented dramatically, and people can’t help but watch. It draws attention, is easy to make, and gets lots of attention. It’s YouTube gold.
So please, take everything you see online with a grain of salt, and play FFXIV based on your own playstyle and according to your own experiences in game. Don’t let anything or anyone else sway you!
As always, I’ll respond to every comment I receive below, but please keep them respectful!

Sorry for the rant this time, but some things just need to be said. There are a couple people who have taken this point of view, but I wanted to do something shorter, more vibrant, and to the point. I value everyone's opinion, and this wasn't meant to throw shade at anyone, or invalidate theirs – only to give a warning to players that these videos probably don't represent the majority of players in the game. If you have an opinion of your own, I'd love to hear it! But please, as always, keep it respectful in the comments. Thank you for your support, Gamers! 💜💜
In time, I hope we all learn to avoid drama farmers.
I am playing Heavensward right now. I always avoid those videos since they are not showing anything positive of the game that I really enjoy. I pay no mind to those people because it is obvious they have an issue but I don't so, why bother.
FF14 is one of the last remaining viable MMO's on the market. By viable I mean it's still receiving regular content updates and is a AAA MMO, other MMO's may suit people for different reasons but that's the metrics I use. I don't think the raiding community is going to necessarily hurt FF14 by talking about issues that they're having. I honestly believe that the development team will never forget the fans. It's just a special game and that's why it's in the position that it's in. Enjoy it, we're lucky to have it.
Nice intro, but rough to listen to with a headache
As a semi-pro player from many MMOs I always don't care about streamers and people videos from YouTube or other places until I test out mechanics myself and get better understanding of it. I don't even understand idea about making most of reaction videos to some stuff. Anyway, cheers and remember to not get down just because of some people over the internet. That's how it always was. Have a nice day!
I only recently got your vids in my feed, and I think it's awesome what you do. 😀 I think the smaller streamers and video makers deserve a lot more attention and love than they get.
Totally agree on the opinion pieces though. Especially when they cover high end raiding but are mostly unnoticed in most normal content. For instance, the whole "Machinist being weak" thing. Could it maybe use a buff or something? Sure. Why not. But it's still a great and fun job to play in most non-Savage content, so nobody should feel forced off of it if they simply like how the job feels.
I remember the first time I was in a dungeon and found out someone had a disability. I thought they were purposefully standing in AoEs and dying intentionally (which irked me because I had to constantly Raise them) until I opened their Adventurer Plate and read their comment about their specific disability. It made me take a step back and be a lot more considerate of others.
Agreed, there is way to much clickbait rage videos and not enough <3!
I watched acouple of those videos, even put out my opinion on how to make healing better (specifically white mage), but as I was getting replies, I realized both the replies and the videos were toxic and mean-spirited to the game. Even my comment was somewhat mean about a job I love very much.
After realizing that, I deleted my comment and stepped away from clicking any of those videos. Honestly, my mental filtering of such videos almost filtered this one out when suggested. I'm glad I clicked.
I think our biggest problem for a community, is with the exodus of some other games into FFXIV, the game got more popular and mainstream and that, sadly, does lead to less-than-helpful players and content creators. In time, these people will move on to the next trend and we can continue going about our business being an awesome community in this awesome game.
Honestly, in general I tend to send videos about FFXIV to my friends who are new to the game less and less.
I've realized that a lot of people who hold negative views on FFXIV and like to exaggerate it's flaws are usually just jealous of the game's success in comparison to the MMO that they play. I've had friends say "Subs are bad, it should be F2P!"
And I always shake my head in disappointment. Free to Play games aren't bad per say, but so many of them are plagued with microtransactions and convenience things locked behind a paywall- Or an immense grind wall. Which to me is like a slap in the face.
My personal advice is- If you have a friend you want to recommend the game to- And all they do is complain about it not being a game they already play, tell them to stop playing.
If they don't enjoy it and want to consistently complain about the game, they don't need to play it. And trust me, you'll be happier without your friend complaining about aspects of the game. We have all seen this with streamers too, them complaining about the game not being the game they main, or play the most.
Enjoy the community the game has, work towards helping new players and improving the community the game has. FFXIV isn't losing players- It's gaining new ones rapidly. We should focus on improving the community that we have, helping those who want to be helped- Then the people who do not wish to partake in it are free to leave or do as they please.
(Also as a sidenote, I feel like a lot of these toxic players that dramatize things in FFXIV are salty WoW players. Lucky for us a lot of them will likely forget about FFXIV once Dragonflight is released. At least I hope so.)
Thank you for making this video. It is frustrating to feel like these content creators with huge amount of views are going to change the game I love in ways I might not want. It seems like there are so few voices pushing back but it's important to remember it's just a loud opinion maybe not the majority.
