FFXIV ARR Ending was INSANE, Shiva, Dragons and Sadness – Part 18

FFXIV End Of ARR – FFXIV New Player completes A Realm Reborn

I’ve played WoW for over 15 years but given the state of WoW right now and the lack of content, some of my friends have convinced me to try FFXIV. I’ve been playing FFXIV now for around a month and finally completed A Realm Reborn. This game and ending has absolutely blown me away and the FFXIV ARR story easily sits on par with the other final fantasy games in the series

This series started out as a comparison between WoW and FFXIV, but has quickly turned into a full playthrough of the game. I absolutely love FFXIV and the story and community have me super hooked!

Also if you have any tips for new players in FFXIV entering heavensward for the first time, please let me know as I’m probably making a lot of mistakes.

  1. I dont think you will make it to endwalker unless you really push it, and this game is not about the push but the journey. endwalker isn't going to go anywhere when it comes out so you can take your time. now the story is going to get real with lots of emotions heading your way, new faces, new locations, and new looks as well. hope you keep enjoying the trip you still have a ways to go on your journey

  2. Don't worry, harder / more challenging content comes with extreme & savage raids (or standard ARR 8 man raid)

Dungeons are generally "easy", unless the whole group is new to the dungeon

  3. end of ARR (actually everything past 5.0) is really gud.. but the very Ending is epical^^
your lucky^^, . must be nice to be able to play it all thru in one go (we had to wait for weeks / months for every patch, 5.1, 5.2 etc..T_T…)

  4. Whenever I saw someone urge you to play msq I frowned a bit because ARR is the right time to have fun with side content, after that msq becomes a lot more addictive

  5. Ha, if you like the music in the Shiva fight … ohhboy.
Shadowbringers is likely going to blow you away.

Anyway, get used to being hooked, it pretty much stays that way until the end now.

  6. Sadly, the Chrysalis doesn't make a (direct) return as a harder fight in any capacity (tho there are a reference or two later…), there's some neat ideas that could be fun with some fleshing out.

One thing you didn't quite catch/mention is that the 2nd/tear phase is actually a timewarp, and fittingly when you enter, the duration of all your current status' is multiplied, which leads to some fun tricks like tanks popping their invulnerability cooldowns before going in so they have like a full minute of no damage to easily soak the meteor markers and shit like that.

  7. People underestimate ARR but it was really good…starts slow but good non the less. The reason why people think every HW is better is because the story just keeps getting better.
