Classic review.
I like sam
Changes feel the same
Still like sam
My biggest issue with Samurai is that I never want to que up for roulette with it, because of how absolutely TERRIBLE it is at lower levels. Meanwhile, Reapet feels decent at every level and Nin feels good at 40+. Sam feels bad until 60 tbh.
I'm not a SAM main, but I think SAM has too much button bloat. There are several abilities that could be merged:
– Jaijutsu, after using, could change into Tsubame-Gaeshi
– Hissatsu : Yaten could change into (Enhanced) Enpi for a few seconds (Edit : though Enpi could still be its separate button as a ranged attack, this suggestion would just be an alternative way for accessing Enhanced Enpi)
– Ikishoten could change into Ogi : Namikiri and Kaeshi : Namikiri
Don't get me wrong, I've nothing against class complexity (quite the contrary!), but almost all the skills we have for gathering and spending three(!) different types of ressources, each with its own variations and combos (spending Kenki for damage alone has 4 individual ogcd buttons), are almost all on individual buttons, which is a but much. i'm sure there are some skills that could easily share the same button without reducing the complexity of the class.
How are you leveling all these jobs you crazy job leveler? I'm struggling to get 3 jobs to 90 over here
As a SAM main since it came out, the job feels like a big downgrade to me. The opener was so perfect last expansion that it felt like it could only go down… which is naturally did. The fact that Tsubama doesn't add a stack for Shoha makes the move over-all feel less 'special' to use particularly with the opening. Ogi is cool at first though I have to admit it lost its charm rather quickly for me (partly because its tied to Ikishoten which makes it feel oddly less impactful compared to building up for a midare).
Having Senei cost only 25 Kenki takes a bit of the Kenki management out of it where I feel like its not even a factor to keep in mind. Not saying being super hard into Kenki management is the best solution but it feels like unlike SB it went completely too far in the other direction where ShB had it just right.
It is not to say there aren't thing I like about it. Aoeing is so much better then it was before for example, but how the class plays over-all it just doesn't feel anywhere near as smooth and satisfying as it did before to the point I just lost interest in the job completely after maining it for 2 expansions and enjoying it in both.
Great video…
"Unable to obtain. You already posses one of that unique item"
visible pain.
I love it. I used to think the job was kind of monotonous in ShB but the addition of a 2min burst window gave it that extra sprinkle of spice I was looking for. Super satisfying. Gonna be my main melee for now.
My biggest issue with SAM is the same issue I have with a few other jobs atm: Button Bloat. I've had a constant 3 hotbar setup since ARR, and it's slowly filled up to max capacity on certain classes while others only get to about half filled and the majority are in a nice comfort zone in-between. Now, I am glad that they exchanged one ability for another to keep it from being TOO bloated, however this exchange was a utility for a damaging one, so where I normally keep utility abilities on my bar now I have to put a damaging one or move around other things and re-wire my brain to remember it's been moved. This, honestly, hurts the job a lot for me, unlike Reaper who also has a lot of buttons that I have to put in places I normally wouldn't but that's a new job and I'm not having to re-learn muscle memory.
AST is another one with this issue but it could easily be solved by making Crown Play not exist and just make the Minor Arcana button turn into it. The only reason I see them having it like it is now is to re-draw your minor arcana which I've not heard anyone want to do because the AoE heal is nice and the AoE damage is also nice, they aren't tied to anything else so just fucking play them.
Thumbs up for pronouncing all the skills really well. Makes the video way easier to listen to x)
Why am I the only one that enjoys having a lot of buttons to press(ogcd’s feel great to weave in rotations). Having multiple ogcd’s to use makes the class feel so much less monotonous once you become fairly good at the class. Sam is ALL about damage, it’s only right that it has more damage buttons to press, and it makes you feel like you are really doing that damage.
My hotbars are perfect for me as SAM.. only the new Ogi Namikri I don’t know where to put comfortably XD. Other than that I love that we have added charges ^^
Holy shit, get the XIVCombo mod so your Samurai abilities are like the PvP version. 1 button for each. No more button bloat because you free up 8 buttons you're hitting constantly! 8 freed up hotkeys!! That's a BIG deal!! Button 1 two times – Button 2 three times – Button 3 three times. Press the same button for your Laijutsu twice in a row = EZ. AoE's are combined into one button as well. It's nice that Ogi Namikiri and it's follow-up are automatically treated this way. Once you experience it: you won't ever go back. "But Zuklar, Zuklar! Yoshida said:…" /*smacks you*/ STFU!
Thing I'm lost on is if we now have 2 gcd fillers, why would there be any other skillspeed options?
The aoe qol and way to fix tsubame drift is all i needed, but somehow got 2 tsubames, 2 meikyo, and a new midare. I am beyond happy
If you want people to take you seriously dont use a lalafell picture in the thumbnail, like id give a potato a sword hah!
Really waiting of your thoughs on monk honnestly. Thank you for recognizing it actually makes you think. I know people always view Monk as a hard class because of positionals but it really was a smooth brain class in terms of rotation during StB and ShB.
