There are very few people who actually hit the nail on the head when it comes to the "toxic community" issue. It certainly isn't because of addons or because of the way the story is. The main reason why WoW has a toxic community is because people are angry at the game, angry at how they're treated inside of the game and angry that they have to do meaningless content just to be able to do couple of hours of content that they like. WoW players are frustrated because playing the game outside of raids, mostly, doesn't feel good. Frustrated and angry players tend to be toxic. This isn't just the case in a video game but in real world as well. Ask a guy who's been smoking a fat one if he's angry and then ask a guy who's been working 12 hours in the sun if they're angry.
You already got to heavensward so it’s a bit late to say welcome to Eorzea but… Welcome to Eorzea!!!!
Sorry Y'shtola but i'm simping only on Cirina.
I honestly commented on another post that far too many FF 14 players need to stop giving Realm Reborn a bad wrap and constantly telling people the game gets better once you get to Heavensward. You are one of the first videos I have watched in actually commenting how this left you with this negative and bad impression for the game that actually prevented you from trying the game out in the first place. I'm hoping more FF 14 players see this video and realize that perhaps promoting the game by saying Well the game gets better in Heavensward isn't the best promotion or gives off the best first impression.
It's not quite the same but you could do the ARR raids before you even got to Heavensward. Then you can minimum item level/no echo it with a premade group. It's one of the best things about FFXIV in my opinion, being able to experience old content 'synced down' so it's at a relevant difficulty. Even something 7 years old can be challenging. It can never be exactly the same, the game was totally different back then, but it's not a faceroll. The ARR raids have a great story too, explaining what actually happened after 1.0 or the ARR cinematic. You could do that with raids in each expansion too if you wanted.
On the other side of the fence, it's inexplicable to me that WoW basically threw away it's own content after each expansion. Of course the Blizzard conversation is utterly different a week later lol…
FF ARR storywise is meh (at least how the quest are designed), heavensward it's actually good stuff….then there is weeblood and after that Shadowbringer which in my opinion is good but not quite good as Heavensword (talkng about the story of course)
The best thing about FFXIV leveling is that you have so many options how to approach it. You level your main with MSQ. You can then level your 1st alt job via roulette, 2nd through optional quests, 3rd with Beast Tribe quests, 4th doing Fates etc then you can mix & match. Its so much fun:)
Edit: forgot about Palace of the Dead way of leveling:)
Why are you toggling your tank stance on and off in the dungeon, turn it on once.
Should move it to another hotkey thats not easily hittable, you only need to toggle it for the start of a boss fight if you're off tanking.
You people are lucky they streamlined almost all the quest and the quest transitioning to heavensward hahaha imagine doing a 100+ quest so that you can transitioned to heavensward hahahahahah
Welcome aboard! As a Legacy Player (one of the ones that played through 1.0 and subbed through the Legacy Campaign) It's always great to see new people join in and give their honest opinions. I do hope WoW recovers from their downward spiral as competition breeds excellence – but in the meanwhile I am also very happy that people will get to try and enjoy the game I've seen grow over the years.
Looking forward to more videos from you! Here's my Sub!
Welcome to Eorzea! If you haven't heard, I know a lot of people compare Warlock to Summoner, given that it's a pet-based DoT caster.
Enjoy the game and take your time and do all the old content.
Will be looking forward to see you tackle the current end game raids (Savage and Ultimates). Always interested to see how WoW hardcore raiders think of the harder raids in FFXIV.
The great thing is if you liked the Dark Knight Story line the person who wrote it and other elements in the game did the main story for 5.0 and 5.3 shadowbringers. and it's so freaking good. the feels…..THE FEELS!
I'm commenting as I watch your video so that's why you may see multiple comments. The hardest thing about playing out alt jobs is finding a layout out be it on controller or on mouse and keyboard that works for you and that you can build muscle memory for the jobs.
Good video and i like the way you composed your thoughts and expressed yourself. I look forward to checking in and seeing how your thoughts on the game develops.
would you have liked Stormblood Mch or Heavensward Mch? a simple youtube search will bring them up. SB MCH is my personal fav. although i still long for the gunmage to be a new job that'd be a physical caster.
The reality is most WoW players don't investigate other games. They ask someone they play WoW with or read the WoW forums and somehow trust these biased opinions.
I have played WoW off and on since BC and I always try other MMOs. Even ESO has a min/max hard-core group. These are all just games – nobody should be afraid to try a new one.
The other major factor a lot of people have pointed out that cuts down on the FF14 toxicity levels is that failure is not as heavily punished. I don't play WoW, but I've heard stories of what happens with failed Mythic keystones or wiped raids. The punishment for failing in FF14 is a lot less, which means that the frustration level of other players is a lot lower. Tied in with that is the fact that the company actively makes some effort to punish bad behavior.
This spirals upwards, and combines with the attitude of MOST players (fuck the gatekeepers) towards wanting more new players in the community, which keeps it largely welcoming. Telling people you're new to the game / a dungeon / Trial / etc. will largely result in them trying to help you understand what you need to know, and also try and get you to do the story, because we want to relive the feels vicariously through you.
Anyhow, welcome to Eorzea.
Duty roulette: you can increase the amount of dungeons you can potentially see by doing blue quests that unlock them and the que'ing (or "unsyncing" them where u bring a max level character inn and just roffle stomp the dungeon/raid)
Red mage and dragoon is excellent for this from my experience due to the amount of self heal they can do.
Or blue mage since its such a meme class when u start getting broken abilitys.
love your video really awesome, I am also refugee from wow and I am so glad I quit wow. Ffxiv have so much content to do and much more interacting with other players which in my opinion why people will play mmorpg. I am looking forward for your next video, can't wait to see your thought and as you are a mythic + players in wow, I can't wait to see you fighting endgame boss in ffxiv. Keep it up! Thumbs up! great video bro!
with the Off GCD abilities the jankiness is actually because all skills have a 0.6 sec universal GCD so you can't immediately use an oGCD after a GCD, it takes a little over half a second. It's not really explained very well or anywhere really
im suprised you didnt talk about the extreme trials here, being a mythic raider. If You haven't done them I highly suggest them as thats where the real difficult content starts. You can also do them right now, no need to reach end game. The fights on extreme are completely different to anything youve done up till this point in the game.
Idk if anyone told you, but the Dark Knight story was written by the woman who also wrote all of Shadowbringers and is writing Endwalker.
The ARR hate from some in the community is a bad meme that keeps getting repeated. ARR is definitely a bit slow but it's not without fun. The other expansions are definitely better but that doesn't mean it's terrible just not as good. Hope you have fun in FFXIV. I started playing it about 3 months ago and love it.
started this game not to long ago as well. most people are very nice. But as with many games, you always have a couple of rotten apples. Again most of the community are very helpfull.
