I’ve been playing Final Fantasy XIV for a long time, and a lot of that time has been as a Dragoon – So I thought I should start giving other classes a proper try, starting with the other Melee DPS classes!
I’ll be doing this with the other classes at some point in the future, feel free to comment below if there’s a specific role you’d like me to try next!

All of these classes make my white mage brain melt. Far too complicated and mad respect for anyone who mains them.
Seeing you try out healers would be fun! Something like Sage, just because of how recent it is!
As a whm main, I absolutely agree that monk in trash packs is a lot of fun
Samurai good good sword go swish swish
Exactly my brain when playing it, swish swash the enemies away
Reminds me a lot of playing yone in LoL, same vibe
you should defo do healers next
I’m a monk main and I just do the normal rotation of buff and normal. The only time I switch up is when i do my perfect balance bursts.
Really nice video! Great editing!
Love that video. Keep it rolling 😊 would like to see range dps. Especially if its „satisfying“ for you to support instead of deadly punches, kicks and slices
One thing i dislike about monk is when using bos gearsets, it acctually feels bad to play without food or in synced content.
If i dont have food, i dont have the correct gcd speed and my rotation gets thrown out of allignment.
If i am synced, all my skillspeed melds are invalidated.
Reaper got nice aoes wiped mobs out easily n fast even if i main sam, still remain sam 1st, i already considered reaper as 2nd. 😀
Nice vid, looking forward to the next one.
2:00 cheater rotation? that's the rotation i've always done, is there something wrong with that rotation?
You don't need to optimize monk unless you're raiding, the "cheat" works just fine with casual conten. And if you want to raid with monk, as a monk main, Don't :,)
I tried so too, it's nice to play other job but when im going to savage and ultimate, i always back to my main, reaper😂, i'm lazy to learn about optimizing other jobs
Meleewalker is a meme for a reason. Melee classes are really good. Minor caveat for MNK is it lacks ranged attack for those few instances you are disengaged longer.
Monk only has 2 positionals now???
I haven't played them through EW, that feels kinda wrong.
Is that just me?
I’d like to see you do casters, as a melee player myself I’ve never been able to get into them so it’d be interesting to see your perspective
Monk fav melee (I'm not good at it, but it has such a nice & fast flow to it.., once you get the basic rotation down, which needs at first a bit of muscle-memory)
I’ve been playing since 2.45 and my main job has changed around a lot over the years as the patches and skills change. I ultimately end up going back to monk. I wanted to like samurai when it came out because I was studying iaijutsu at the time but I just can’t get into it. I mostly bounce around between monk, reaper, and dragoon. Occasionally going with ninja and using the summoner. Ultimately I find myself back at monk. I like how it is so fast and you can interweave aoe and single target combo. Like if you were using the aoe combo and are down to one enemy before you get to the third attack, you can switch to single target without it messing up anything. Something you can’t do with the others. I end up feeling like I’m playing a fighting game character in FFXIV when I use monk.
Y'all are NUTS for the amount of love this has been getting recently, genuinely never expected to get this much attention for a stupid video I made on a whim!
The Healer version of this video will be out very soon, based on the number of comments here that wanted Healers :3
Sword go swish swish yes yes 👍
