  1. I stopped playing daily around Stormblood and quit entirely after Shadowbringers. Had an absolutely fantastic time around the Heavensward era and since I was between jobs at the time I played an absolute ton but what I really enjoyed was hanging out with people in the free company and although much much rarer I still speak to some of them now. However from Stormblood onwards many started to go their own way and so I was mostly just playing for the gameplay and story both of which I thought were pretty poor compared to experiences I could get elsewhere.

I do love how when I took long breaks catching up was super simple and as MMOs go its honestly very well done for the most part but its still an MMO and when the social experience diminishes and I find them subpar as far as games are concerned. I was considering going back for Endwalker I mean it is the end of the story for a game I played for years but without many of the people who I enjoyed playing with I couldnt get any motivation to play a story I had long lost interest in just to try and plough through out of some stupid sense of self obligation.

  2. Isn't FFXIV made to be enjoyed on a on-and-off basis? I think quitting 14 is healthy. Take a break, do something else that you feel like doing. Then come back then the time is right ^^

  3. Thing is that many times he is not specific, and while I am a careface about that, it does rub many the wrong way when someone say "These people are toxic" and then not saying who and in what way, or "These people do not like new ideas about the game" followed by again not saying who and what ideas.
Furthermore he is not someone who ever did the harder content, which for some ffxiv players diminish his opinions.

Personally I do enjoy his content when he IS specific, even if I do not always agree with his opinions.
But I could see this comming, he has 5 kids and a day job. It was also more and more obvious that he was did not like the games direction and some portion of the community, which portion I have no idea about but I would guess the part of reddit that is called Super-toxic-ffxiv-players-who-hate-Brian or something.

  4. 1. Wants to spend more time with his family – yeah, that's an entirely valid reason, if a game is taking too much of your time and you feel it, you should stop.
    2. Wants to focus on his career as a comedian – alright, odd choice of a career but clearly he's enjoying desite not proving it, hasn't said anything even remotely funny but if you enjoy your career, sure, focus on it over video games
    3. Wants to play and focus on New World instead – Hahahaah, he's a comedian alright! Wait… he's serious?! Hold up… my god… Jeff Bezos is holding his family hostage!

  5. After EW main story line ended, I walked away. I do want to jump back in and do more, but i just feels like I ended a perfect story, and dont want to ruin it. Maybe I'll come back one day too. Narrative reason for sure.

  6. YoshiP once said you are not entitled to play the game forever, you can always take break and have fun with other game. It’s always best to take break and stop playing and explore other game.

  7. I quit in April of this year. I had completed the MSQ and felt it was a good finale. I got all the mounts I wanted. I got all my crafting and gathering skills to 80 on my main. I just didn't enjoy playing after that.

  8. This vid was a bit odd to me, with going out of your way to make a full on video saying you're quitting FF, I'm wanting to hear some hot topics of why you're fed up with the game. Balancing issues, SE's approach to add-ons, etc. But this seemed to me more like "I'm not really into FF right now, too busy with other stuff" stretched out to really justify the move to his audience. Guy just leveled the other jobs and got burnt (which is kinda surprising cause that is something you can go about very casually, saying it was the hardest thing he ever did was low key hilarious). He kept saying he wanted FF to "invite him back" and didn't elaborate further. They keep adding the usual content along with brand new content the past few patches with PVP revamp, island sanctuary, and now savage dungeons, asking people to try them out and give feedback for future iterations. The game is always inviting ppl back from my pov, and fine for you to leave and come back later if you want. Hell if you left after EW's story you're gonna come back to a wealth of new stuff. Don't really care if this guy left FF, he can do what he wants, but I just find the whole video premise funny. "I want FF to invite me back, this game has gone the way of WoW, they need to take risks, etc" just flavor sentences with no additional context. I could think of other reasons to quit FF that ppl should consider and nothing new was really mentioned here.

  9. Some of the things that he wants from FF14 from someone who has watched their videos:

1: infinite sink for exp to go into. He absolutely HATES that exp is irrelevant after you hit max level and basically loses all drive to continue playing a game when he hits level cap. He wants something like Diablo Paragon levels in every MMO.

    2. Wants to be able to get current mythic/savage raid level gear by doing everything else BUT the raid. Extreme trials and Savage raids are too hard for him and so he never even touches them. He has said that he thinks it’s unfair that his iLvl can’t be at the max available during a patch because he doesn’t want to do that content, he should be able to get it by spending more time and just doing daily dungeon runs or whatever for it.

3: He absolutely despises any kind of vertical progression in games and will completely ignore any content that involves this as he thinks you should be able to get rewards for anything from anywhere. This ties a bit into the above point but another example is Island Sanctuaries that were recently added. He refuses to participate in it but then is mad that he can’t get the transmog rewards behind it outside of the system.

These are just a few of the major things that have come up recently over and over and people have been fighting him on it because my explanation is as deep as it goes. He always has been like “oh well this sucks and needs to change but whatever, no one needs to agree with me” 😂

  10. Ginger is a drama hound, probably saw his numbers dipping and needed a boost.

I'm not the biggest fan of Pyro, but Ginger's psychoanalysis video of why Pyro "isn't as popular" anymore was fucking weird. Pyro's wife had a pretty horrific medical situation that Ginger referred to as "some stuff going on" when talking about why Pyro hasn't streamed as much lately. Then he spent 10 minutes going over Pyro's analytics on TwitchTracker.

    Dude is fucking weird.

  11. I have dealt with some FFXIV zealots as I've played the game. I've complained about some bad voice acting, and boring quests and people lose their minds. They also tore someone apart because they said that they skip cutscenes and only care about the high difficulty content and not the story. I got pulled into a 30 minute back and forth about transmog because I said the limiting by class/job didn't make sense to me. The community can be overly defensive.
