Never played the original pvp but I tried a couple games of this and while not something I'll likely put much time into it does seem like it'd be really fun in short bursts every now and again
Try Summoner, its AOE attacks can change the course of a match
Grinded to Crystal rank. I think its amazing. Probably the most fun PVP mode in any MMO I've played. It does have some jankiness that they need to iron out but overall I'm really impressed with the mode and the job design.
It‘a really fun! But also super unbalanced. Some jobs are just broken.
It’s new, so I’m sure there will be balance patches. I can’t wait to see how PvP will develop from here on given how good they did with this. Excited for more maps as well.
I also really like almost all the PvP jobs, balance issues aside. Some I like more than their PvE versions lol.
For their very first iteration of a completely new system made from the ground up, it turned out amazingly well. Despite having such small movesets compared to even old PvP, all of your skills are pulling double duty with layers of different effects and combo procs for even a single skill, and every job feels wonderfully unique even among the same role, ironic when the PvE is getting more and more flak for homogenized and simplified jobs. The job balance of course is a little off, WHM, DRG, and WAR were the big winners with other jobs like GNB, SCH, and DNC being left in the dust, but it's nothing that some fine tuning in future patches couldn't iron out. Grinded up to diamond tier over the course of week, and fingers crossed I can make crystal at some point during the season.
I completely agree with this, I usually hate PVP but I gave it a go for the Garo glam and it's actually really fun, not perfected yet, job balance and targeting has some issues but overall, it's extremely fun and being so quick makes it easy to pick if you have 5-10 minutes to kill.
So far tried 3 jobs mainly on high and low ping
SAM, wich at low ping handles like a dream. With a super powerhouse of a LB perfect to shut down Warriors, Paladins or healers and a comfortable kit to go in, smack, and run out
MCH, that they turned into a sniper. A lot more fun in frontlines, but handy in CC too. With the turret being the MvP for area control and choke points, and the Drill+LB combo being amazing for targeted shutdowns
The only downside of MCH is that when playing Ranked, people start using Guard on your LB the higher you go because of the animation wind up
And SCH, wich is extremely powerfull, with healing reduction on the enemy, damage ups for your team, damage downs for the enemy, shields, speed buff and a 3k to 4.5k ticking DoT on AoE. SCH is just a utility full package, playing it well makes your team steamroll most of the time
And in frontlines playing 3 or 4 scholars in the same team is actually Evil, putting 10k+ ticking dots on entire parties (and ignoring guard too!)
I have been having lots and lots of fun (I even got the rank 25 armor in 2 characters already) but they definetly need to fix Purify's sub-effect to work, as the 5 second buff does nothing currently, and the WHM exploit for LB generation that people can do by accident sadly.
And on a Side note, im not a fan of skills that stun, because they Stun you first, then play the animation. And it is extremely noticeable with WAR and WHM
