  1. Despite being simple and obviously somewhat obnoxious, I LOVE Holy for trash pulls. Like you said the interrupt to ground AOE is something people forget about, in addition to the stun!

  2. As a newbie healer (literally picked the game when Free trial became available) I'm a very, very nervous Scholar. Especially during wall to wall pulls. Though for the most part (Barely level 52, not started Heavensward) I just settle for the Sacred Soil whenever it's off Cooldown while using rest of my kit as needed… Probably not the best Healer out there but then again the class was with me since the start

  3. I've tried all of them. AST is by far my favourite because of the versatility – however I'm rubbish at the dps aspect as every other game I've mained healer in the dps is so negligible. It's the thing I have to work on for sure.
Never clicked with scholar even though arcanist was the first job I picked (didn't know at first it becomes two jobs). It feels too passive and I don't feel in control at all (she's only 60 something though) and again, I didn't concentrate on the dps although with scholar it's easier as it's similar to the basic damage that the summoner does.
WHM was the first job I got to 90 and finished Endwalker with. Probably the most similar to other healer classes I've played in other games (lots of direct heals with a few HoT's thrown in).
Sage is fun, but being spoiled by the AST I keep running out of mana 😀
I should probably practice a bit more but then again, I never plan on doing the really hard end content and I'm doing fine so… 😉

  4. One note about the rdps difference in sage vs sch… You wont see that difference in 99% of groups you play in.

Sch's raid buff, chain stratagem, puts it ahead in rdps assuming that your group is able capitalize on it properly. It's also assuming that your raw damage is at maximum by using the majority of sch's aether stacks on energy drain instead of heals.

Sage will out preform sch's rdps in almost every group outside of highly optimized parse runs. Both Sages healing and damage is free compared to sch.

  5. What a lovely overview! I'm still a sprout but have healed plenty in other mmos. I find the approach to healing in ffxiv the most enjoyable experience so far. Started with WHM but later swapped to sage since it clicked more for me and the fact that I can use all tools in my toolkit without having to worry all that much about loosing dps or having mp issues which I can't really say that I've experienced on WHM. SGE took a while to get used to but I like to weave ogcds and the overall playstyle.

  6. For the longest time my main healer job was White Mage. I loved the way I was able to heal so much in so short a time and even mitigate some damage and I felt like my MP never ran out. This was even better when spamming Holy during mob pulls. A real green DPS. Endwalker changed that unfortunately. Now my main healer is Sage. While harder to play I love the fact that I can heal by doing damage and to have so many barrier spells. My only gripe is that… MP can run out quite fast despite the abilities that restore some amount.

  7. Could you possibly expand on what you mean by "I've seen a lot of WHM players become lazy with how they play"? I enjoy WHM and I'm only at level 70 and I feel like I'm probably going to become lazy if I haven't already.
