  1. FF14 only succeeded because they had good devs and good management. I hope Blizzard can turn it around, but unless there is a change in management, they will crash and burn, and I won't be happy (cause I wish for WoW to succed), but I will say, "I told you so".

  2. WoW is currently not salvageable. To save WoW, you would need to ARR it or otherwise destroy it and replace it entirely. I do not care what direction they go with it at this point, because even if they fix the systems, they have utterly destroyed Azeroth, and I will never be invested in the load of crap that passes for lore right now. The world needs to be remade, and by people who care and understand about both factions and all the races. As a Night Elf, I am not going back to a world that genocided my race and left us with nothing. Azeroth died with Teldrassil, in my mind. Wipe it back to the start of WoW’s history and set it on a new course and direction with fixed decisions and leadership and I may try it. But currently, even if they fixed the massive game problems and the focus on endgame above all else, I will never care about that world until the lore from the last few expansions is unwritten.

  3. Yoshi P talks with you as a friend/fellow gamer, he was a wow player too. The Wow Devs is Talking to you as a paying customer, Tone Deaf. I also tried WOW but got ganked too many times and gave up. I moved to LOTRO, when FFXIV became available in my region, i just upped and signed up, been playing ever since. The people that populate the server i'm in are nice and welcoming to newbies and patient enough to teach you the mechanics to play your job. Oh sure you meet some aholes but overall those got ignored but i'm passing it on to advising newbies, being patient with newbie pugs, i remember that i was a sprout once. I subbed to FFXIV got me a nice Free company(guild). As Yoshi P states that if you feel burnt out, it's ok to just step away from the keyboard, come back later to do more content as the patches drop. FYI when EndWalker was having a live presentation, i just bought the Expansion sight unseen instantly. I'm on a break now, would catch up with the patches when life turns better for me. Cheers 🙂

  4. I disagree with one thing. The 15 years of wow content Chris referring to isn't fun solo. It was good for a time while you had other people to play with.
Now everyone boost their characters to fast-forward to the endgame and the world is desolate. For new players wow its not mmorpg just rpg

  5. I disagree with "WoW has 15 years of content to go through"
WoW invalidates old content, no one 'queues' for it, no one builds groups for it. You are expected to level to cap, then do that.

FFXIV has content all the way up.

  6. I think you could see this coming with that infamous Blizzcon announcement of that mobile Diablo game and the gobsmacked reaction when they were almost booed off the stage. "Don't you have phones?" A lot of the upper management is also gone, and now Activision is running Blizzard in such a way that they try to cut the budget to the bone. They don't care about any metric except 'how much money are we making? How can we make more?'. I don't and have never played WoW (I'm a FF14 player) but I have friends who do, and I am very sorry to see this kind of mess going on in what had been a classic titan of the genre. But I don't think it will change until suddenly the bottom falls out, which this might very well be the beginning of.

  7. 100% a fake.

A dev would never write stuff as vague and generic. Example: "The key metrics" sounds like what someone that has no idea what data analytics is would write. "The higher ups" sounds like what someone that no idea about what a video game company and studio stucture is would write. Etc.

  8. it is conceit. They have made it to the top, think they cannot fail, and get mad when people question their dominance. Is this an out-of-season April fools joke that comes to mind as well as do you all not have phones?

  9. WoW is designed with engagement metrics in mind and it shows. Content might be dull and uninspiring for years, the "fix" they deploy is additional rewards for engaging with said content.
People play content for its extrinsic rewards foremost.

  10. I stopped subbing to WoW recently because it feels like they create boring unnecessary systems to keep me chained to the game for as long as possible for no other reason than to increase the play time metric that they always bring up at their shareholders meetings. Instead of making a game I want to waste my time in, they make a game forcing me to waste my time in. That's a big difference. I've been playing FF14 for a few weeks and this is the first time in years that I can't wait to log back into a game

  11. Honestly Blizzard is right on this one….WoW is too big to fail…because it is. Too many people will keep going back NO MATTER WHAT. People Leave Current wow for Classic wow. Guess where your money goes? This game will NEVER be good again and it will continue to get subscribers. WoW will die when Blizzard says so.

  12. if they actually do another wod with only 9.2 into next expansion WoW is a 100% dead to me. As an early TBC player Im just so sad how they slaughtered my boy.

  13. Do you know that once a new WoW player gets to level 10 they are now DIRECTLY steered into BfA instead of the old progression? Unless someone who knows better steers them to the old progression, they are dropped into one of the worst expansions. Nothing I can think of would turn off a new player faster.

One of the most galling examples of the cluelessness of Blizz devs is that, during the disaster that was BfA, they actually had a programmer waste precious time and money altering the Org cooking daily (the one where you have to kill 3 guys stealing supplies) to scale levels. One guilty pleasure I had was doing that daily on a fully levelled toon and watching the thief flip in the air as I killed him. I earned that little bit of fun and Blizz wants so much control over how we play the game they took it away. They've programmed all the fun out of WoW leaving us nothing but mindless grind and that's the reason I unsubbed again a few days ago for FF XIV and I'm not going back until I see the reactions to the next expansion.

  14. Here's the point Warcraft has been a successful game for far too long and stagnant in its ways. For years players have been asking for more content to customize the characters but year after year we get the same homogenized crap for the same sub fee.

  15. Here comes final fantasy emotes abundant of animations abundant of looks and styles for every player in this game more content that's fun and enjoyable no wonder people are flocking the final fantasy XIV and this is from a player that played vanilla wow.

  16. I've played WoW on and off since it first released and honestly, it's just become too overwhelming and confusing. I commented on a different video that FFXIV should allow players who don't want to play the main campaign to still have access to things like PoD and HoH and the non main campaign content as a way to attract players turned off by the campaign grind. However, part of WoWs problem is you are thrown into this vast world with no real direction on how to play through past campaigns. I think the starting island for Shadowlands was abysmal and then needing to level to 50 to start the campaign. Once the campaign started, it was pretty cool but all the convoluted systems and the frankly toxic community just makes it unbearable to play.

  17. I think the defining difference between Japanese vs American game producers, is that there is a huge emphasis on honor and integrity for Japanese game creators, especially when working on storied franchises. Yoshi P won't fail because it is literally his life's work and he refuses to fail his company, his employees, the players and frankly, his country. In the US, developers can tank a game and they will just move on to the next game to tank with no damage to their reputation or job prospects. Unless you are Peter Molyneaux, that guy can't win to save his life lol (of course his overhyped ambition hasn't helped him).

  18. Whether their intentions were good or not each individual who made each decision that led to this point took it upon themselves to say "the player view is wrong im right lets keep doing this" because the players have been pointing out the cliff blizzard has been running full tilt towards for years and blizzard repeatedly ignored it or told us we were wrong

  19. The funny part is if Activision paid its employees good wages instead of slave wages this information would NOT have been released. Due to Activision's own incompetence, as usual, things will only get worse until WoW gets shutdown soon. Activision has been resting on their heels this whole time and wonder why they are now becoming an out of date game and business model. The future is FF14. FF14 adapted and Activision didn't. Its not hard to see why things are going the way they are. When you focus on the shareholders above all else…. your company crumbles.
