I’m not an MMO person, normally, but maybe I can make a difference for the award winning game Final Fantasy XIV, with its free trial including gameplay up to lvl 60 and all the other stuff.

  1. Pugilist/Monk is actually very active compared to most other jobs in general. The gap between your main attacks is nearly half as long of that of other classes. Speed is the name of the game. And don't forget the positional bonuses. Your main strikes (bootshine, snap punch, etc) all get bonuses if you hit them from the right direction.

  2. NORAXIA!! 🥰

got the channel membership just so I could be a bit further in the FFXIV playthrough, because I really needed a pick me up, and it really helped me feel better, listening to the video while I work

I really hope that throughout the whole playthrough we get to see a lot more classes, especially since I myself am trying out a lot of them, and really curious about Skyen's takes on what storylines for the guilds are best executed.

  3. 9:06 That is absolutely a DOOM comic reference.

If you're going for more classes, lancer/dragoon provides some later story context, but is mechanically very slow to give you skills (most that the quest did give have been dummied out), gladiator/paladin has men and women in skimpy outfits, Rogue/Ninja is written by one of the best writers in 14 and provides more information on Limsa's culture.

If you have an interest in fully understanding the mechanics of Aetherology, then Thaumaturge/Black Mage, Conjurer/White Mage and Arcanist/Summoner/Scholar are required. That being said I do not suggest leveling all 4 right now as the need to knows are explained in story as they become relevant.

  4. BTW Skyen you should put you Limit Break button in place you can find it easily for your DPS jobs, it's in your general actions tab in the actions menu, Melee Limit Break is the most used in the game, other DPS LBs are situational as they're AoEs and thus don't do as much damage to a single target, tanks and healers also use their LBs if the situation demands it though not as often so it's not as big of a deal if you forget to put the LB skill in your bar for those.

  5. It's a shame you didn't do Halatali while you were levelling Pugilist. It's one of the optional dungeon quests you have sitting in your quest log, specifically the level 20 one. Dungeons level you up faster than levequests do, are more interesting (especially when it's one you haven't done before), and you can always do levequests while sitting in the queue waiting anyways to double dip.

Next time you need to stop and level up, whether it be a third class or one of the ones you already have, you might consider it. Especially because once you're level 50ish, the game will eventually just assume you've done Halatali by then anyways and multiple storylines, both optional and mandatory, will result involve it to some minor degree and it makes a bit more sense if you've done it as a dungeon first.

  6. Oh god, toto rak. I had to do this dungeon so many times leveling astrologian. And some leveling advice, the fastest way to level from 1-15 is the hunting log, and from that point onwards it's leveling roulette and fates. Also, once you get to a certain point, all the msq for a while will be at level 50. There are 2 dps classes which start at level 50 you can try to level, being red mage and samurai.

  7. Btw, a good idea for when you are in dungeons use /say then press enter. Then until you change it back to /say, all your text is only visible for the party and turns blue so they are more easily noticed in chat.

  8. Yeah, levelling is crazy fast. ^^ You should have access to the Levelling roulette by now, which is a VERY easy way to get some levels packed onto any class. You can enter it from level 16 I believe, and it'll give you a random dungeon on the available list. 🙂 And yeah, doing dungeons that you are around the level of is also a fantastic way to get exp. But try taking a level 16 job into a levelling roulette (and maybe eat something, you can buy boiled eggs from a vendor for instance, for that extra 3% ), and watch it rise into the 20ies! 😀 It is a great way to get those secondary jobs up to level. 🙂

And I an happy you're having fun with the classquests. ^^ There are some great ones out there. Rogue is kinda nice, too. And I personally adored the Thaumaturge one (the pre-Black Mage class you can find at the Ossuary in Ul'dah). ^___^ Because powertrippy lalafell with big boom sticks are just… chefskiss

  9. AYYYYY! Something I think is fun, is how the redbellies and coeurlclaws HELP YOU in this quest. Poaching in the twelveswood has always been accompanied by nothing short of eldritch curses, and death to the poacher at the hands of the greenwrath. I always felt bad for the poachers, and seeing them do great things is always a treat. During sorty fights like this, you might've noticed, but some dialogue WILL appear. I think the arguement between Laurentius and the poachers is neat.

  10. A few notes about playing melee DPS in dungeons.

    – Generally, it's best practice to use your AoE combo when you'll hit at least 3 enemies with it for the highest DPS. This will get more important later, as you get more tanks which do bigger pulls. This rule varies for Ranged/Caster DPS, but holds true for Tanks as well.
    – Remember your positionals! Every melee DPS eventually has some, and Pugilist/Monk has the most, varying between Rear and Flank on the fly. It's not the end of the world if you miss some (the real secret to high DPS is to make sure your GCD is always rolling), but you're losing out on easy damage if you miss a lot of them.
    – As a melee DPS, if the Limit Break Gauge is full or even just one bar full for the final boss, feel free to use Limit break. Tank and Healer LB is literally useless below LB3, and Ranged/Caster LB is only useful on mob pulls, so you're the best person to use it. Melee Limit Break is a huge burst of single target damage, and also looks really cool!
