  1. if you want these MSQ duties to be less boring go with NPCs and not with other players. when you go with other players they will burn down the bosses always quickly

  2. In XIV your position is calculated at the moment the boss' cast ends. With that eruption, you were still inside the AoE when the cast ended, then you ran out of it. Animation wise, you were in the clear, but the game doesn't really care for the animation, it tracked your position at the end of the cast. This feels weird at first, but it can be used to your advantage: you can move INTO attack animations without being damaged as long as you wait for the cast to be over.

Also, congratulation: you learned your Summoner rotation. It's going to stay mostly the same until level 90. That's the good thing and bad thing about that job: it's super easy, but kind of boring.

  3. If you are finding some of these fights to be far too quick, you can turn on Minimum Item Level and Silence Echo on in the settings menu in the Duty Finder. So people with item level 640 gear will be synced down to around iL Lv25 gear.
This also helps for running extremes and savages on Min IL and no Echo

  4. Taking advantage of snapshots is basically how everyone plays in high-end content due to the speed at which mechanics happen. You can't wait for the attack animations, you need to know exactly where the intersection of "cast completed" and "what's my server ping" is, and take advantage of that to execute mechanics. Sometimes that split-second timing can be the difference between a clear and a wipe (especially if you're a healer).

On the plus side, it is something you get used to with practice. Most people will make sure that the boss's HP and cast bar are somewhere prominent on their screen (I usually set it as focus target, and have that at 180% size right below my party frames since I'm a healer, and therefore spend 90% of any fight watching the party's HP) so they can keep track of when they need to move.

  5. Haha enjoyed the Aetherobics bit. Its pretty nice that the dev team knows how Gamers can be, so that little video being put out there is helpful. Ifrit pretty cool primal, your SMN kit will expand. Loving the streams, happy to support! cheers!

  6. Another flawless victory πŸ˜‚

How are you feeling about the boss music and ambiance do far?

Snapshotting can occur both on player and enemy abilities. E.g. a player can have a buff and cast a helpful shield on the party, then recast that shield after the buff runs out and wierd things happen.

Enemy snapshots will take a while to get used to. You'll probably be fine without worrying about it much in MSQ content.

  7. Oh boy, Ifrit extreme is going to be really entertaining to watch once you get around to it. Good challenge. It's especially difficult on healers, since most of the mechs for that fight depends on them.

Edit: make sure to try them minimum item level no echo (MINE) to get as close to possible to when they were current diffuclty wise.

  8. I don’t recommend queuing MSQ dungeons or trials with veterans. They are over-geared (despite the level syncing) and make the fights pretty easy for you. For the extreme trials and savage raids however, definitely find a group.

  9. I feel Ifrit sets a good example for what a first major trial should be like. He’s not too crazy, but enough to keep you on your toes with his Hellfire phase. And especially due to him being so iconic to the series.
