The Race to World first for Future’s Rewritten Ultimate has just wrapped up. Amidst the first big in person streamed event and another plugin drama. The question is… is there a future for World First events in FFXIV?

Honestly SE acknowledging the teams, DROPS, social media involvement etc. would be more then reasonable. I do think Mike is reaching for the stars and that currently is, in my mind, unattainable
FF14's race to World First certainly has the potencial to be something great. It would be worth it for SE to make an official event out of it, but sofar they seem allegic to fostering competition – and thats fair. After all, we know what it does to WoW – and part of that has already come here (I'm talking about flaming people in dungeons (!) if they dont play optimally – which is, sadly, a daily occurance in WoW). Whether the race stays a community driven event or hosted by SE, however, the same rules apply: all participants have to stream their gameplay to ensure as much fairness and controll as possible.
Maybe I'm the minority, I couldn't care less about any "race to world first" as some kind of big, public event. I know Mike loves casting the WoW races but FFXIV in particular doesn't need it IMO. They are different types of games.
The whole race thing never interest me even in wow couldnt care less how was doin what just play the game and that it.
However like with the last few races it bring the wwole wheather addon should be ban or not since in 14 case someone alway seem to get caught useing one and ster up a hornet nest.
If they really dont want to worry about if your useing addon or not in square cast then maybe they should do the event themselves and only ever acknowledge those contenders.
The casting of the new raid is fun as an event for people who are interested in watching new difficult content. I don't think it should be treated as a race tho. More like a group hangout where we figure out puzzles lol
Personally I think they should totally ban all mods in FFXIV.
Ff players just too scrubby for all this. The fight designs will never lead out to those longer tug of wars
i don't really give a damn about the mogtalk/echo race to world first stream… i prefer watching other streams to see what the fight is like and no matter what anyone else in the community or dev team says unnamed and grind killed the last 2 ultimates first
Plugins are illegal in Japan, that's why, end of story.
An race in person hosted by sq would be so much fin to watch.
I dont care at all who kills the latest ultimste first. Tbh. Not even a little. But i care about my plugins that make my game more enjoyable. Take those away because of some 40 people racing the content for their own little race, and im quiting this game faster than they can finish the dam ultimate.
I've been investigating for a video, and there are plugins that give you: teleport, permanent sprint, auto-rotation and so on that works the first minute of a new patch.
It's not only about widescreen and such, that's only the surface of the problem.
The thing is that there will be always cheaters unless there's a local LAN tournament. Outside of that it's just a show and whoever gets the first kill doesn't really matter.
I disgree. Having tool that allows you perfect position IS harmful. Positioning is part of the difficulty loop in XIV, that demands experience and skill.
Anything that serve to compensate for experience and skill is called cheat.
RTWF is absolutely superniche and doesn't matter. Except to those who are interested in it and then it matters alot.
Ultimately it's on the dev team to decide what game they want and who to cater to. So far to a relative outsider it doesn't appear that much change has happened. This seems to be indicating a lack of interest in creating an environment similar to WoW Races as it'd break away from their main goal of "most people should have real access to all content approach".
If that's their plan then smaller, all remote events is likely the future due to cost. How to stop cheating? You won't, ever short of full in person events.
Buy a superwide that also puts a hardware dot in the middle of the screen. Items like that that do exist are one thing that'll be even harder to catch, short of the chess streaming approach of a second camera that can see everything from a different viewpoint.
What's the first place prize?
The fact that the latest Ultimate was beaten at all – within only a week(or two?) of release means that it still wasn't tuned hard enough. Cue all the whining from FF14 pros and youtubers saying "there's nothing to do" in the game. I don't care HOW it was beaten(addons or not, seriously just accept that addons are used and should be used aka WoW). If SE was really, really seriously about cracking down, then FFlogs would not exist at all. But the fight was still undertuned if it was even possible to be beaten without many thousands of attempts and minimum 4 months of progression.
i dont think Yoshi P himself playtests content before it releases. Noone ever claimed that. Thats wayyy too much time spent for a person in his position. There are videos of him joining Partyfinder groups doing E8S and you can find some of his 95 Parse runs on Blackmage on FFlogs, which is impressive. But he was the producer of FF14 AND FF16 at the same time during dawntrails production.
It's not 2017 anymore… It's 2024 and nobody really cares about RTWF in FF14. FF14 is not WOW.
Survive lmao fucking wow brainrot
If you have to use any plugins whatsoever (ACT included) you are a complete scrub. Take off the training wheels and learn to game like big boys and girls.
Makes me wish someone in Preach's community add JP subs to videos like these, and then share them to the JP forums.

I think that would be really funny actually.
Originally, normal raiding was far harder, and people didn't want to miss out on the story of the Bahamut raids (understandable. It explains everything about the title of A Realm Reborn.) They also added Savage Second Coils for people who want an even tougher challenge.
Then Normal Alexander got a lot easier, and the Savage raids were across the whole raid series. People complained that getting decent gear took way too much time and effort that barely anyone could pull it off. (not to mention some fights had such strict DPS and heal checks that raid gear from earlier in the tier was mandatory, Timegating progression)
Stormblood made Savage way easier. Now just a step or two above an Extreme Trial, and they added Ultimates for the Ultra-hardcore challenge gamers who play for the fun of playing and winning against hard content.
So I think the idea of doing the same with Ultimates would be really silly. In no small part because the word Ultimate implies finality, or the absolute apex.
World first race is not legitimate. SE does not support it. Echo and Mogtalk are trying to legitimize it so they can make revenue. Every world first raider uses ad ons, literally all of them. Here we are again.
Personally, I propose a custom game client (like XIV launcher) that is specifically designed to detect and/or forbid/disables the use of external tools and mods. At first, this seems to be too much work, but hear me out.
The XIV launcher already exists as a custom launcher for the game. A new launcher would have most of the implementation already done (the code is already written). What needs to be changed is simply that every feature of the laucher that is designed to launch modded content (dalamud, etc.) needs to be scrapped and replaced by following simple mechanisms:
1. The launcher should automatically delete all caches regarding XIV to ensure no modified data makes it into the game. (can be moved to other directory)
2. The launcher should then check the installed size of the game files and match it against the expected size. (only a tempared game will differ)
3. The launcher should check if any known cheat-software is running (ACT, Penumbra, FFLogs, Tex Tools, etc.)
4. The launcher will have exactly ONE mod included. That mod is overlay that displays a ever changing verification pattern at all time in the game client (small, so it does not bother people). A streamer can show it and verify they are running this special client. This pattern can be used to legitimate the person using the launcher. Results of certain checks can be hidden in the code of the pattern and cryptized using time stomps and game-versions as keys. This functions basically as a self made anti-cheat software, were you give people the oppotunity to verify raiders accomplishments by themself.
Alternative: Make it a plugin within XIV launcher. Basically a "no mods used verification plugin".
I honestly couldn't care less RTWF. Especially when they make it so unless you have no life, you cannot ever do that content. That type of 'niche' for one time event just does not worth screwing rest of the player base over.
I mean I wouldn't say that the addon situation is infinitely worse in FFXIV than WoW because in terms of addon usage it's actually much more prevalent in WoW. So I would say that it's much worse in WoW because of how more widespread and accepted it is in WoW and almost required it can be when raiding. It just raises a bigger stink in FFXIV because it's against ToS, but it's the actual addon usage that is an issue regardless of being allowed or not, in my opinion.
I really don't want ff14 to have a world first race like wow does. Please don't make my fun chill game into a shitty esport.
Funnily enough the best way would be if Square themselves made a separate tool that worked like an anticheat that would monitor whats going on on your pc while youre playing the game. Require it to be running if you want your run to count. Don't like it? Don't compete. After the race uninstall it and get your privacy back.
I don’t like the idea of invitationals. I really dislike that the money behind the wow event stops people from trying without an org developers analysts.
The idea that only a few groups get to compete because of random criteria is needlessly exclusionary because some people want to make money hosting an event…
Oh so in translation, the top guilds who monopolizes and monetizes RTWF in wow cannot do that in FF effectively, so they are trying to complain about it, subtly voicing their "concern" in hopes the developers change the game for their benefit. Oh and the streamers and organizations also supports this in bias because it financially benefits them as well, by "suggesting" to SQEX to cover the remainder of the cost to "restore" the same benefit/financial gain to the similar structure they were comfortably having in wow…?
This is not RTWF FFXIV a raid reborn
1. the business visa track nightmare, they cannot be there with tourist visa on a business company sanctioned event.
(a single private company has to do that for so many different players scattered across the world, or the fact the company then will be responsible for their legal conducts in japan, lets face it we are not talking about model citizens here who are in japan with high skill labor visa).
2. Hosting a ffxiv RTWF is not going to increase their bottom line substantially, people sub for the game not because they watched an event. There are billions around the world that watches the Olympics, almost no one suddenly think they now want to sign up for the olympics to break literal human apex records… yea that's a race to world first too.
I think I am at the point where I just don't care about raiders using addons. I dont need to see drama happening on every single race to world first about a group using an addon. SE won't manage it, the players can't manage it. Just accept it.
False information: debuff timers have existed in the game since ARR released. But they didn't exist in the party list and that's what the addon changed.
Almost didn't click on the video cause of those gaudy red dots in the title. Normally only see those used on those awful livestreamers that YouTube tries to push
15:20 Yeah. That's an old lie they've just maintained for a long time. They do split runs maybe. They don't actually full clear. Too many progression stopping bugs have been found for this to be the case.
Just do scorched earth and permaban every account on fflogs lmao. Yoshida wont do it but it would be absolutely hilarious if he did.
Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't we talking about two completely different player bases anyway wows player is massively sided on with raiding where 14s is alot more spread out. Idk if it's possible to make this race as big of a deal as it is in wow
Make them play on ps5 only
