  1. At least you warned them about the easily butt hurt part of the community. I stay away from the sub-Reddit for that reason. One thing I think is important to mention for the “WoW refugees” is that if they really enjoy stuff like mythic plus and other challenging 4 or 24 man content they won’t find much. All we really get for “challenging” content is 12 savage bosses and 2 ultimates throughout an expansion and realistically a large majority of people won’t really have time for ultimate but if you’re into crafting and hanging out with your guild buddies then it’s pretty great for that or even casual savage raiding. Another thing we dont really have is a “full” feeling open world. The content in the open world just feels very sparse and meaningless which is too bad.

Sorry for my rambling LOL but I figured some of this stuff is important to some WoW players looking for a new mmo to run too. This is some of the stuff my WoW friends talk about all the time so I figured someone would find this important since I doesn’t really get brought up a lot by ff content creators.

  2. Been watching all your videos on ff14! Got into it not so long ago and just so happened you were making ff14 content. Loving the game, just finished ARR and just messing around with Beast Tribes and Crystal Tower. I highly recommend joining a free company and make friends to journey with. Loved the video. Very informative and educational but also fun and intriguing with the editing.

  3. played ff14 already in the early days before it got relaunched and it just never hooked me. tried it after relaunch, didnt hook me again. tried after heavensward launch, made it barely to lvl 30, cuz the combat is so slow, i get so sleepy and nap mid fights. now recently, i tried it with my gf on ps4 aswell and we both almost slept in and just made it to lvl 33. its just sooo slow. i absolutely love the final fantasy series but i cant seem to get any enjoyment out of ff14, as i never make it to lvl 50 and beyond, where "things should get better". normally i consider myself as a story player and been playing mostly every mmo in the past 20 yrs or so but ff14 is sadly one of them, i cant enjoy 🙁
nontheless, i sometimes watch videos and streams about it and iam happy, that others enjoy it that much, as it has to be a rly good game

  4. Started playing the Free trial. Been about 10 days or so. Leveling a lancer/dragoon. Picked up leatherworking to see how DoH work.

Finding it kind of difficult because I don't have access to the market boards and haven't really ventured out much from my staring area yet…

    What should I do?

Also, if I upgrade to the full version…do I have to start paying the monthly subscription immediately or can I still play up to level 60(Heavensward) free?

  6. I cant recomment buying the skip for any reason. Yes, ARR is slow, its tedious. But what many FF14 players forget is this: compared with many other MMORPGs its actually strong. The story has impact, it introduces all relevant personel and areas in a good pace that allows you to remember these characters later on, understanding the impact they and their actions have. It may be a comforting thought that level- and story skip are available but given that the story progresses and that every future part actually builds upon what came before… its bad advice to point newcomers to the mog-station. Sure, they can make use of the New Game+ feature later on but unless they reach a serious content drought or want to make content around it (like for making videos)… I cant imagine any of them do it.
Leveling in FF14 is very fast, there are numerous guides telling you where to get XP in the most efficient ways once you start leveling alt-jobs. Someone who'd rather throw money at it… sorry, the only word I have for that is "lazy". I think its important to realize that the game has more to offer than just endgame – and by this I dont want to belittle endgame by any means, just saying that the game has other content earlier on that's fun, too, and telling people that only at the end of the leveling road they'll have fun… thats very bad advertising in my opinion.
So, please, can we just stop talking about this skip and forget it exists? Like… pretty please? ^^°

  7. I've been on the fence for FFXIV for so long. I stopped WoW at the end of Legion. I wanted to try Battle for Azeroth and Shadowlands, but the end-game loop just no longer interests me. After watching your free trial/beginner summary, I am inching ever closer to just diving in to Final Fantasy XIV, on-stream; what do I do!?

  8. Playing FF14 and buying a story skip is like pulling up a new Netflix show and only watching the last episode.

Also you absolutely do not need ACT to get into or "be competitive" in raids.

  9. I avoided so many spoilers… Got to the cinematic parts of shadowlands… Now im BIG on Lore and RP.

    Sylvanas: I will never serve!

Me: Quietly logs off and cancels sub… Downloads FF14.

I bought it because im a 6ft Blonde irl, and well… I had to be a Bunny Girl. Planning on being a Dancer 🙂

Wish me luck! Sorry Blizzard… Classic TBC is cool! But the woeful story writing and genuinely tiresome amount of laziness has lost me. Sylvanas flip flops like a fish -_-

Wish me luck, I will be soaking in FF14 lore and gaming hard!

  10. My thoughts are that you can't view FFXIV as a game that you want to rush to catch up on content, but a book with some dungeons and bosses. Trying to catch up a decade's text story with little voice acting through the ARR HW and first half of Stormblood made me burnout and stop.
I'd say take your time through the MSQ (Main Storyline Quest) and take a break at good stopping points for a few days, and do other things like professions or Golden Saucer because you have a long way to go.

Skip puts your understanding of the story and your understanding of your character is a very odd position where you have to play catch up. It's better just to slow down on the MSQ instead of skip.
