  1. An idea that seems interesting to me from the FFXIII games is a job wholly dedicated to buffing the party and a job wholly dedicated to debuffing enemies, so like Synergist/Conjurer and Saboteur/Sorcerer. I by no means am experienced enough in this game to know if this would remotely fit or work, still a sprout 30 levels into MSQ, heck for all I know they could already exist in the game, but yeah thought it was cool.

  2. Would say a dex melee that uses ninja gear would be more beneficial gear wise and make more sense then 2 range classes. Perhaps reimaged far east beast master maybe with duel axes and a pet jug function in the place of ninjutsu would fit this role. One thing that has to be keep in mine that it would need follow the current format jobs currently in 14. Meaning you need fit type of armor profile, need limited amount of abilities and traits, and also a gauge function. While also being different enough to stand apart from other jobs. I question if rune fencer or fencer could be different enough then red mage or berserker from war.

  3. I would love Geomancer that focuses on dots since they removed them from Summoner, and a physical ranged job based on Rinoa Heartilly kinda like they did for Gunbreaker and Squall

  4. "A new job that offers the same experience as an existing one would defeat the purpose of adding a new job." Yes. Yes it would and they still made Sage a clone of SCH.

As for beastmasters and druids, they have already steered away from pets with summoner and the game is too jank to support true druid shapeshifting. At best shapeshifting would be like reapers "summoning" their avatar; just a modified skin and aesthetic.

  5. Caster melee could be more like when you put an element on your weapon and those are the only casting skills that come out rarely and take a lot of time to pull off. Other then that free movement stuff

  6. I really would like a juggler/gambler that used throwing knives as their main weapon and had cards, dice, slot machine wheels for different skills. Think that is a great space for a phys ranged that would really fit into being unique but a call back to old ff jobs.

  7. I saw that Lost Ark has a class in the Korean version called "Artist" that has a brush as a weapon and, as an artist irl, I absolutely LOVE this idea and would be in tears if they added it to FFXIV

  8. I'm actually surprised they haven't added a Pirate job. It could have been an offshoot of Rogue, along with Ninja, much like Arcanist had Scholar and Summoner

  9. I would like to see a Pirate job. But with a sabre and hand cannon it would be very similar to Red Mage, so maybe not. But Berserker and Time Mage also sound good to me. Maybe TIme Mage could evolve around DoTs since Summoner doesn't do that anymore.

  10. Less on the topic of a new Job addition in the next expansion, I'd LOVE to see the ability to hot-swap jobs in the middle of a dungeon. Sort of like what we see the main character stand-in do during the Shadowbringers trailer. That would provide a whole new layer of interesting tactics and coordination that people could do during complex battles.

Imagine, during a huge damage moment, you swap a DPS out for a healer, slap down some extra heals, and then back to a DPS class. Imagine 8-player content being able to swap between 1 tank and 2 tanks, based on the fights they're in. That would be really fun and interestingly complex.

  11. From FFXI I would love to see Beastmaster, Geomancer, Rune Fencer, Corsair and Puppetmaster return. Ever since people were speculating about the potential next healer in EW, I've been kinda interested to see Chemist as well.
Something that I personally have been loving the concept off (but doubt they'll ever add) is a Rune Mage. Basically a caster, but with an ability system kinda similar to Ninja's mudras.

For classic things tho, Rune Fencer is definitely highest on my list. As much as I love DRK as a tank, it would be instantly replaced with Rune Fencer if it became a thing.

  12. Honestly they need to do something with classes in FFXIV. We still have them and are quickly replaced by Jobs. It's a complete waste. Why can't we have Rogues rather than Ninja? Or Archer rather than Bard? We could have Thaumaturge where it's a class based on DOTs rather than big burst damage like Black Mage.

  13. I'm a bit worried they get hung up on existing weapon identities and feel like they need to come up with some crazy stuff. Just because bards have bows doesn't mean future jobs shouldn't ever be using them. White and Black Mages are both using similar staffs, and Machinists had a small selection of gunblades before it became a gunbreaker thing. I've seen multiple discussions about players worrying they'll never see a pure gunner class of sorts because machinist has more of a tool use niche.

I'd even like to see new jobs that use multiple weapons again. As far as I know, they went away from that and only left the paladin (and some old whm/blm) shields for glamour reasons.

  14. I hope they considering adding healers that have some kind of damage rotation. Its incredibly frustrating that all of my end-game encounters boil down to pressing AoE heal and 1 damage button on EVERY healing job.

  15. I think we can make Rangers be viable by having them use a crossbow as a weapon, and have them focus on AoE and DoT attacks, like a sort of wildman who uses traps and poisons to harm their foes and could be introduced once we are finally in the new continent

  16. With the amount of pirate shit we have in this game I'm surprised we don't have a Corsair class yet. That's what I'd add. Phys ranged that uses Scouting gear + Aiming accessories like Ninja, uses dual pistols like Merlwyb but with a swashbuckling melee combo. Less direct damage than Machinist, fills the "buffer" role of phys ranged with grog and sea shanties to encourage the party.

  17. My personal suspicion is like Zepla; new physical ranged and caster for 7.0. Maybe Black Mage will be the star job LOL.

In future I'm wondering if a new job will have some magitek roots… maybe one of the healers since native Garleans couldn't use aether.

As for next expac? Our current story seems to be pointing us towards the Void, but they've also said that Krile is supposed to be getting more focus. We might spend one or two expansions visiting new areas under the guise of helping the Students of Baldesion with their expeditions while scouting for gates that can lead to other shards. The Void is just the easiest since not only is it right next to us if I'm remembering correctly, but because it's full of active Umbral energy compared to the stillness of the First's Astral.
