  1. No no no no absolutely no novels. How do you think World of Warcraft got into the position that is in. The Side Stories should really be in the game if possible. Content that just couldn't make it into the game that's fine. Overall every bit of Storytelling should be in the game.

  2. the difference bewteen Emet's Judgement and Hermes is that Emet judged like dictators do, to numbers, "en-masse" so he did a lot of bad, but we never saw him do it, and he used roundabout ways to do it, while Hermes, did it personally, using a loved one, albeit unknowingly, but incredibly ruthless none the less.

We as humans cannot comprehend the Pol Pots or Genghis Khan's of history, that killed millions, so our judgement of them is impartial, but what do we think of the Ed Kempers and Ted Bundys? that is the difference, it is easier to empathize with someone like Emet, as horrible as it sounds, because his deeds where impersonal, difficult to relate to, so we end up trying to put ourselves in his shoes to understand him, meanwhile Hermes, we can all understand a moron when we see one.

P.S. Meteion did nothing wrong T_T

  3. Ishikawa is the Primal of Tears.

With every tear shed, she gets stronger. No surprise it was barely an inconvenience.

Also, I've seen what extra-game media content did to Warcraft.

I DO NOT want novels. NO.

  4. I had strong initial impressions of Endwalker that didn't hold up after I thought back on the story and heard criticisms voiced by others that resonated with me, which honestly was not the case with any of the other expansions where my opinion largely stayed the same if not improved after rather exhaustive discussion and analysis.

I didn't hate it, but I ultimately enjoyed Shadowbringers more and would only put it as equal to HW at the absolute best.

I did however, curb my expectations as I lacked confidence they'd be able to deliver a completely satisfying conclusion with how many things they needed to resolve over the course of a single expansion, and as I expected it I feel like it mostly suffered from pacing issues both with things happening too quickly and other parts being really slow.

  5. That point about the story being always on her mind is really important. Most game and movie writers write as part of a corporate punch card. It's not art to them. But I'm so thankful it's meaningful for these writers who actually care. There's so little media today that's made with real love, and it's all that's important when telling a story. Everything else falls in to place when the writer really, genuinely cares about it and wants it to resonate with people.

  6. The most encouraging thing about this interview is Ishikawa and Oda being transparent that XIV WASN’T all planned. It feels like the a story where all the pieces fit together in the way they were always intended but that’s not the case! They were making the rebooted XIV with scraps and playing things by ear, so they made the script broad and added those crucial details as they went along.

It goes to show that all the media that falls apart because of supposed “story meddling” or rewrites—it’s not damned to be a disaster! It just the difference between teams that CAN build confident visions out of the tools they have.

  7. Hermes is like social media in that he left the question he was interested up to a social experiment. He encouraged a forum to decide what was a personal philosophical question, in the same way that social media leaves the morality of the opinions expressed on their platform up to users, when every other type of organization is clear on the type of values they project.

But that's a great point on absorbing the emotions of others through reading all these different opinions.

  8. No, absolutely not novels or books. If you want more lore or stories put it in the game whether it be in the MSQ, Side Quests or events etc. How do you think WoW got to the point where it is now? And I don't even want the chance of FF14 story turning into the same thing.

  9. Hermes = Hermit person living on the interweb that doesn't going out much because he think different and people close to him don't understand. So he seek others he could talk with online.
    Meteions sisters = Twitter
The Meteion = Hermes account's algorithm, Try choosing subject specifically to pleased him. Spy on him and the others a lot even thought he said don't because it rude, She can't help herself.
Other planets that has been found = Popular opinion just because people engage with it but not the only true. While the other fact exist but doesn't got much engagement so you won't see it.

  10. They ask three separate times "Was it worth it?" In Endwalker.

I feel for Hermes. He's a relatable character. I think Hermes was more sympathetic than Emet. Even though he's the odd one out in his society.

Elpis was just a smile from ear to ear.

  11. The Ascians just being a generic background villain until post shadowbringer is kinda obvious when rewatching/replaying the older expansions after beating EW.

  12. It is quite interesting to spot all the differences in communication between Sqenix and other studios (cough…Actiblizz…).
It's a whole lot of good info and not a simple "Oh we are so great! We were planning this since 1965! I bet you did not expect that one eh?"

  13. I think just small sidestories about characters we already know is a better idea than introducing new characters. Especially since those new characters would inevitably show up in the games at some point meaning you'll have to have read the books to understand everything.

  14. I didnt really like that Hydealyn wanted to fight in the first place. I mean yes, her mission was over but the fight itself fight was so unnecessary. As if she didnt know already that the WOL is the chad.
