  1. I do think that Asmons statement stands when you think about failed releases in general, Final fantasy 14 is an extreme exception to this rule and we have seen how long it has taken for the general public to shift their opinions on the game regardless of the improvements that they made. When you take an objective look at gaming as a whole its completely true although I can understand the difficulty in removing yourself from bias in the moment.

  2. The thing I love, is that Yoshi P knows there was a fuck up in the time it was announced and that there were going to be people really upset. The rest of the community flaming people for being upset is wrong. Let people vent. Yoshi P knew people were going to be upset so let those people be upset. Imagine you work in retail and literally can't get time off in december. It sucks so much for those people.

And the wow thing… Remember when they said Shadowlands was copying Shadowbringers… What?

Also, Asmon back with these deadpan blinders of comments lol

  3. Being able to multiclass and swap jobs in ff14 absolutely does not come anywhere close to the interesting and cool things you can do with your character in wow (especially the older versions). Not when every single job uses the same gear, has the same skills, same rotation etc. as someone else playing that job. Granted, newer versions of wow have done all they can try try and scrub as much individual uniqueness and player freedom from the game as possible (for the sake of easier balance), but it's a real shame that bygone are the days where a creative and skilled player with the right imagination or class knowledge could come up with new and interesting ways use skills or items to do cool things in the game.

  4. "FF14 never released a bad expansion"
Untrue tho, stormblood exists. Before its post game, it was objectively a bad expansion that destroyed the pacing and story flow after HW.
It was a return to ARR for 70% of its base game, and was a big mistake. Im terrified that we'll see that repeating and wind up on a tik/tok expansion schedule like wow, where we alternate between good and bad expansions.

But! We'll see. I sincerely hope that isn't the case, and stormblood was just a mistake they wont make again.

  5. FFXIV:ARR was probably the lowest point in ffxiv other than the beginning of 1.0 but they learn every expansion. The delay I don’t believe the issue it’s more of the communication was more issue. But C’est la vie 🪦

    PS: Long live Baja blast!

  6. To be fair, people do think of the game for how it was on day one. They had to rebrand FFXIV under a new title, being A Realm Reborn to get people to think it was different enough from the last. And it was. But even still, most people up until shadowbringers STILL thought FFXIV was "That shitty mmo that had a garbage launch". My friends and I barely started to hear different at around 5.2's release. Which is when we all went into the game for the first time in a decently sized wave of people from a sale.

The stigma holds VERY STRONGLY for a looonnng period of time and you kind of have to get lucky with public perception.

  7. I actually hate asmon and find him super annoying, but he is right. FFXIV gets away with it because its literally a different game than it was on its original release. Anyone who has heard of the game knows they nuked it from orbit and rebuilt it. Siege did something similar, but without those ground up rebuilds the games will always have that negative cloud over their heads. He is absolutely right and the evidence supports him.

  8. You keep saying that they already released ffxiv in a bad state which Square Enix did and was before Yoshi P and his team came along. So no Yoshi has not released anything bad ever. Asmon is correct in stating this

  9. I tend to compare FFXIV expansions with their previous expansion. There's no point in comparing it to wow, as wow has been releasing the same content the past few years. So it's almost a guarantee to be better until blizz get their head out of their bum.

  10. Idk, I think that modern day politics influencing the story of video games is shit. Idc about what the Republicans or Democrats are doing! I'm just trying to link the first flame godamnit!

  11. I do disagree with the bit about a game releasing broken being remembered as broken forever. I suppose it's possible I'm just missing seeing or hearing about it but no one seems to remember or care that Witcher 3 was an absolute buggy crapfest on release. Anyone remember all the absolute bonkers stuff you could glitch and break with Roach? lol. Maybe the astronomical amount of media attention and hype Cyberpunk got made it feel worse?

  12. Happy they delayed it if that's what the team think it needs. Much rather have a working, polished game than a potentially broken mess. These deadlines are killing games across the board, just look at New World and the countless others like it.

  13. The story of the person quitting their jobs for Shadowlands is actually really sad. Not only is it a sign of video game addiction, putting games over real life priorities, but she did it for an expac like Shadowlands. Ew.

Also, Ion crying isn't a possibility. Neither sociopaths or robots can cry and I'm convinced he's on or the other.

  14. Appreciate the video, really great. Though I have to disagree on the playing different jobs scratching the variety itch… a job or class is sorta like having an archetype, but having customization within your job is like having your own personality and flare.. its fun being abit different while still being a "paladin" (obviously meaning not simply superficially like with glams)

  16. They might not have tried to line it up with anything in FF14, but they definitely are releasing it a month after 9.1.5 so that you have to sub at least twice (If you are coming back in 9.1.5)
