Hey guys, thought I would show you guys some gil making in ffxiv, as a follow up to my last video since the market took a turn a lot of people didn’t anticipate I thought I would follow up with a quick video telling you all not to panic, and to remember it’s a marathon not a race.
All of the macros discussed are being updated and kept current in my discord server here:

This video is more of a follow up to my previous video posted yesterday, so for context check that out here:

Personally, this is just a sign that pentamelding needs to die. It's such a strange aspect of this game. Most things are so formulaic, and then there's pentamelding. Is my new ring going to cost one million gil or thirty million gil for the same end result? Tune in next time on suicide watch Z. There's no way to reduce the risk and normalize the process. Possibly lowering the entry barrier, but also removing macros might make crafting a more long term deal. It might also affect bots.
After seeing the mess of prices on the MB, I decided I wasn't going to turn my safety melds into mid melds to craft, and instead just started offloading my materials for premium gil. I made 25m selling materials which is double what I had hoped to make from crafting, so it worked for me. I'll probably just stick to gathering next tier and not even worry about crafting.
Prices seemed to have stabilized on my server to around 300k – 500k now but jesus the undercutting happening early on was atrocious on my server. It's like some people want to make less money. I've found the most success in selling 99 stacks of pots, people seem to opt in to buy 99 stacks of a bit more expensive pots that cheaper low quantity listings from my experience today.
I gave up trying to craft anything this morning. Lots of new crafters who undercutted to the point of tanking some gear’s prices on my server. I decided to just gather and sell mats crafters needed for the current master recipes. Was faster and easier to make money that way. I’m also selling materia as well. Thanks for pointing out the issues today.
To the undercutters on the MB — Look at the sales history of items on the MB and see that that the demand is there for many items (tons of sales per hour). If the demand is there (eg. current price is 1million, last sales prices are also 1 million) there's no need to undercut the current price substantially. Knocking 10k-500k+ off of 1 million is SO unnecessary when ppl are buying at 1 million. If you undercut, keep it relatively close to the last price listed. Otherwise, you not only lose out on your own profit but you're hurting other players sales in the process and tanking the market.
In your previous guide you failed to take into account several key things. The crafting changes in SHB make it far easier because of how actions/rotations were simplified, the addition of the firmament combined with the content lull increased the amount of max lvl crafters greatly and how easily this gear would be to make. Long time crafters knew about this and planned for it.
It's tragic, tragic I say.
I place an item on the marketboard and within just a couple of minutes it's already burried all the way down because of other crafters undercutting with ridiculous prices. What happened to the value of hard earned work and preparations for this money making opportunity only to be obliterated like this. Though looking at materia side of things, I think will it recover some of the gil I burned because of pentamelding.
I logged on early, looked at the price of Mats then looked at the price of fully crafted gear, Knew it wasn't worth it to craft so sold all my Mats early for good profit. Felt wrong doing it but made logical sense and glad I made the right decision.
I made 94 mil today.
Nothing should require pentamelding anyway in my opinion. Sucks that people overprepared but it made zero sense to need to do so in the first place, it basically just added a financial gate and that's it.
this already happen with exarchic gear. why would you think its gonna be different.
special shoutout to the one crafter on my server that undercut items by 5 to 10mil at a time… if i ever find him imma need to send him some of these guides….
The issue is SE has educated people how to craft. Firmament created a leveling system where you HAD to craft rather than the handing of leves.
Plus Materials have the highest fixed value they ever had with leve giving crazy gil.
The fact crafters have a lot of gil (hello coffee biscuits) it's created a ecosystem that breeds masses of omnicrafter that profit off other crafters.
When new recipes came out that targeted none crafter the ratio of crafter to none crafter has gone up exponetially meaning there is less of a market for each crafter.
The undercutting… telling people not to will probably lose them gil not save them gil. I do understand why ya don't like but in a market where the demand to supply ratio is low it's unreasonable to expect people to not sell thing that cost 100k+ to make for 200k-300k.
it's kind of pretty stupid that we're going to be getting new crafting gear before this crafting gear pentamelded was able to make anything unique LOL
I lost 2 mil today, so I'm pretty salty about eh market problem. Hoping something sells
You can't really blame people for undercutting in this situation. Supply/demand. It's up to the devs to make sure supply and crafting requirements are balanced. You can't expect people to hold a high price if the demand isn't matching the amount of supply 🙁
Cerberus just went to shit the first few hours, instead of ppl placing the items for 10-15m, ppl started undercutting each other by a lot which then plumeted whole market. Really sucks since i was ready with my pentamelds ready to make gil from high tier crafting content, only to find out requirement for entry for this content was laughable low
Everyone shouldn't panic. You can still make money the same exact way, it just won't be huge amounts at a time. Lot of overreacting here.
I don't think it being this easy to craft is a big deal. Making gil in this game is kind of not worth focusing too hard on, anyway. And to be honest, these videos where you give people the methods to craft and gather and give hints about how to make money floods markets and shit. Not to say you shouldn't do it, but its just a fact that videos like this create competition.
Accessibility ruined this for me, I like crafting cause we're in control of our crafts, but once it comes to the MB, I'm at the will of 1000s of schmucks that don't know what they're doing
I made money mostly off making gear for gatherers, materia from my crafting and gathering, and venture coffers from retainers. My own crafter gear was fairly basic, just melds stacking control with no overmelding at all – fine for the normal 560 crafts. I struggled with the new master recipes, and had to overmeld a little (4/5) to get the stats I needed to comfortably craft the new recipes. On my server, Unicorn, I was disappointed after all the effort to make the new gear, it sold with little margin over just buying the mats. Often more profit in just buying and selling the Tomestone vendors items. As a new player though, I still enjoyed the experience of trying to make money from a new patch.
A lot of the crafted gear on my server is expensive, but nobody is buying it lol
Hmmm, so more people, and a higher percentage crafting for themselves explains the middle materials using tomestones becoming better sellers. Since that's a hard-coded bottleneck requiring non-crafting activities. Most of the new crafters likely share similar guides/websites/streamers between them with the common knowledge for crafting this tier of content. So I assume the end consumers are many of the DIY types, rather than the theoretical savage raiders with large pockets and no crafting buddies. Also means more people will get burnt out quicker on crafting and some stability will occur until the next patch. The real gil makers are just another layer or two deeper then….(i.e. maps and FC's?).
Many in the comment are putting a lot of the blame on the undercutting but I think its mainly due to how easy the crafts are. I'm almost 400 control over the min req for the crafts which is nuts.
I got more profit selling materia than gear yesterday lmao.
"oh no i didnt make millions of gil and extort the whole server.. oh also, please dont undercut me" Im a crafter, and I dont give a crap about this. It shouldnt be such a pain to craft and require pentameld imo.
Under cutting is Fine when its within a few gil but when you get some random dirt bag undercut by millions they assume its going to sell but they are just going to get undercut them self's. This was the first time I bothered overmelding my crafters and the only plus was that Im able to craft my own gear, make food and pots with one button macros. I made more money selling mats pre patch. Here I thought I was going to make millions crafting joke was on me.
I am sorry. Could you please repeat what you just said? I was distracted by your pet playing in the water. 😀
I was late in preping so i spent around 30 mil on pentamelding the night before, didnt really want huge profits but 200k a piece is just absurd.
I just hope the 6.1 crafting gear isnt this easy to craft and i at least benefit then from the money spent
Made my gil just selling the mats. Key was to sit and watch the boards. Also had 2 retainers selling while I watched on the third to adjust prices and pull them off when needed. You my be lucky and scoop up someone's mistake. Got 3 stacks of 9materia for 2300 instead of 23000 per. Remember to watch those zeros
like everyone said its all about people newbies undercutting vets LMAO thats the only problem i see, i like how its easier to craft things now tbh its a bit more streamlined but the undercutting oooooohhh booooooy
The market crashing so quickly certainly doesn't have anything to do with people like Fur Daddy, Ashe, Desp etc all constantly putting up videos to cause FOMO about how you'll make so much money and to stock up on supplies… You don't get to complain about the market when you're part of the problem.
I'm still making 20-30m a day doing the thing i've been doing since pretty much day 1-5 xD just gotta find a market & fill it, don't have to worry about undercutters when you know your minimum price range for profit won't be hit for a very long time xD
I'm a new crafter/gatherer. I'm glad I asked someone about good market place etiquette before the patch
Honestly, ffxiv should have kept the rng from the skysteel tool weapons crafting.
Let the components be macrod but when it come times to craft the final product throw that rng "crafting skill" into effect.
Materials aren't able to be gathered as high quality, but you can craft high quality crafted materials. Like Lumber, ingots, bars, nuggets, etc. This helps the crafters if you are an omnicrafter like me. It helps you max out crafting and makes gil where the end item crafters don't have to worry about becoming omnis to get specialized materials.
I've had a few crafters I know who have a hard time getting high quality intermediary crafted materials.
