All these WoW players will drop FF when 9.1 hits and start to cry about how bad WoW is
Well, welcome or welcome back and have fun 🙂
Having left WoW many years ago for…well, any other game, and landing in FFXIV after having played 1.0 and ARR at launch I'm having fun watching all these "I left WoW for FFXIV…" videos.
Welcome to having fun in your game again guys!
I would warn you that there are micro-transactions in FFXIV. They do include potions to completely re-do your character's race, gender, and appearance, level skips, story skips and such. Due to the game being so heavily story focused, however, the skip potions are really only purchased by people who want to level up a secondary class on the same character. There are also cosmetic outfits, mounts, and cosmetic pets that are available on the store.
Also, honestly, you can play the game for quite some time before even realizing the store exists. They advertise it on the launcher but that's about it, they don't push the micro-transactions at all.
here is why i enjoy ff14 it basically feels like early wow and reawakened those emotions i had when i first played wow
I don't know what server you play on but if you need help and on the crystal server junction. my chr name is mixquoto Leutaubont
Welcome, fellow Warrior of Light. I hope you'll cherish your time here with us in Eorzea. =)
FF8 is your favorite game ever huh? Do you like Eden raids?
Heh, yet another… like and thumbs up! Jokes aside, thank you for your thoughts and welcome to FFXIV! I'm happy you are enjoying the game.
U have no idea how boring it is to watch FFXIV on stream. FFXIV is a good game to play but def not to watch.
Tbf, u will be surprised how many raid loggers out there in FFXIV as well
Welcome to FFXIV. WoW is definitely in a odd state. I started playing during BC but started playing more on and off after cata. MOP was incredible but after that it's been meh. The nature of how they implement uncompleted ideas before throwing them away coupled with making almost identical mistakes is pretty sad. It's unfortunate they focus so much on endgame when the world has so much to offer. I started playing during a realm reborn for FF and have been with it since.
I hope you enjoy the time you have in the game. I look forward to seeing what content you produce.
Hey Groove, thanks for making the video, and totally surprised by the shout-out at the end. Looking forward to seeing what you make next!
If that's your main problem, you shouldn't play FF XIV either, we also have a cash shop, with skips, for both levels and story, and for retainers, and lots of cosmetics and other things. I do think, your other points are more well made, perhaps you should've stuck with just them! For me, you don't have to have a reason that you're switching, other than that you have more fun in FF XIV 🙂 In the end, all that matters is that, and I hope you have all the fun, and continue to do so! Welcome to the game, rather than looking for excuses for reasons that you left a game you weren't having fun in, enjoy the ride in this one~ 🙂
I'm so excited for you to do 5.3 content!
WorkToGame have been so amazing as someone just coming back to FF after so long. They and Zepla (because she's also a lady and she's awesome too) have really kept me company over the past few weeks just by watching their tutorials and streams while gaming, and it has made me start to wonder if I would have any value as a streamer/content creator for FF. It's just a daunting prospect, I don't know anything about this stuff beyond the gaming itself.
It sounds like we have a similar history. I was 18 in 2006, I had just graduated and a guy I was dating got me to try WoW, and the game ended up becoming one of my longest relationships with any franchise – other than maybe Final Fantasy as a whole series. I started at the end of Vanilla, began raiding in BC through to Cata, dabbled in MoP, and then dropped in WoD to try FFXIV for the first time 2 months after launch. I had such a sunk cost anxiety about WoW that I didn't even keep up with the gaming news so somehow I missed all the chatter about FFXIV and didn't even know about the first game failing when I began my trek in ARR. I got several jobs to 50, started 2 relics, and eventually I swapped back to WoW. From then on I was always an expansion late in each game as I bounced back and forth and took breaks.
I tried to love Shadowlands. I was hyped and resubbed ahead of time, unlocked Nightborne, was pissed about the customization, then tried to dive into leveling a couple healers, and I enjoyed it… but once I got to end game I felt like I was forcing myself to care about all the stuff I was being forced to grind just because I wanted anima rewards and the anima drops were spartan at best. I felt punished by the cost of upgrading my sanctum, the Maw was an exercise in frustration, and I don't know why but even the first few times I did Torghast was not too enjoyable once I realized that THIS is all we would be doing until 9.1, which was several months away.
I got back into FF and began my Stormblood adventure and haven't looked back. I remembered how amazing Heavensward was and likey wouldn't have stopped but for a car accident irl. I just feel so connected to the world and my character and I'm not resentful of the rate at which I have to grind for the things I want. I hope they fix the issues with housing, but until then I am just about to unlock the 500K gil permanent personal apartment (300k for one attached to your FC, but I want my own) so I still get to experience having my own space.
Thank you for pouring your heart out… you are very eloquent and this is one of the best videos I've watched and finally able to understand on a deeper level, on why players left wow. I've never tried Wow, ff14 is kinda my first MMO, and so I don't really understand why some Wow players are so unhappy about a game they loved for years. I was so surprised to hear all these from you! It saddens me too to see someone who has invested probably half of his life in a game and gotten all those wonderful memories only to have the current experience tainted the good memories too. I'll give you a pat on the back for making this tough decision in order to preserve what wonderful memories are left of the game. It's like seeing a long time good buddy spiralling downwards and nothing you do or say to him coudl help. I hope you enjoy the rest of 14, and let's get excited together waiting for end walker and playing it together when it's out!
I have not played FF14 but I highly doubt the raiding is better then WOW. For all the shit people give WOW the one thing they always shine at is raids and dungeons.
You left a game with a shoddy combat system, terrible story and a toxic environment for a game with a shoddy combat system, terrible story and a highly policed community where you can't say anything without being banned? Gotcha.
All these "I left WoW for FFXIV" videos are the same. Youtubers and twitch streamers for WoW and FFXIV are like Hollywood stars. Total morons who think they're gods gift and their opinions matter when, in reality, they don't and they're always wrong.
Most people missed out on final fantasy 11 just cause to it wasn't advertised as much and ps2 was ahead of its time.
Too much face. Where's the gameplay?
‘Welcome to Eorzea, may you ever walk in the light of the crystal.
You made a good choice
They need to retroactivate the AI computer players for dungeons to the base game and every expansion instead of just Shadowbringers and also the option of watching a story summary to skip patch content so you can move to the next expansion, these are my two main gripes about FF XIV.
Another Warrior of Light joins the fray!
Same thing happened to the group I lead into Naxx. What server was that on? 🤔
WoW ends up feeling like a weekly chore
No one gives a fuck what bandwagoners and those driven by clickbait bs decide to do. Don't forget to position your mouth properly to catch every last drop.
A great explanation on why you switched.
Welcome to Eorzea!
I think you hit the nail on the head with WoW's approach to Lore and previous expansions. I came to WoW experience all the events leading up to Shadowlands, and boi, they do not make that easy xD Between BfA story requiring dungeons you have to solo (hello MindControlling witches), to Legion raids that my class can't solo, but that have important cutscenes locked at the end, I admit I do not enjoy myself. Add to that amount of cut content, like Burning of Darnassus and 9.1 removing the 9.0 questline about Anduin's corruption, and one starts to wonder if they really care about people knowing why things are happening in the game.
I still find things to enjoy – I'm loving the new sassy Wrathion, I'm glad Ysera is back, and as healer having a healboss with Kael'thas was a nice change of pace, but those things alone are not really worth the frustrations.
Anyway, I'm glad you found yourself a game you can enjoy, and one that, I feel, treats it's players with lot more respect. I hope you will have fun in endgame content, and best of luck 😀
Welcome to the void
