Xeno Rants About The New Relic Weapons in Final Fantasy XIV

Another day, another Xeno rant. This time Xeno rants about the newest Manderville Relic Weapons. Many Final Fantasy 14 players have been disappointed by the Endwalker relic weapons; some think they are to easy to get, others don’t like the design or how the dyes work but Xeno has his own problems with relics that tie in with his gearing in FFXIV classic rant.

  1. Ok look everyone this my take on this my take on the matter since I been playing for years the best glow in the game is the omega ultimate weapons. The best look in the game is the new relic weapons we can’t have the same ileve weapons for a solo vs a teamwork base weapon relic weapons stats can never beat a weapon stats that took 7 other players help to get because solo grind is to easy to do

  2. Almost ranted and then watched the whole vid.
Agreed: relic should be 635. Ultimate should have more slots.
Disagreed: relic being free doing normal routine. Might be manipulative but pushing players to do "ignored" content is good. FATEs, hunts, new deep dungeon, Sil'dihn. Relic could be used to push players to do these things. Give them incentive to explore/discover other content. It's not the ease of current relic that's upsetting, it's the monotony.

  3. Aaaaaah FF14 and its gearing system.
It is soooooo… soulless. Always the same layout every fucking patch.
WoW is not doing better nowadays but it feels different nonetheless.

I think the best game is GW2 on that subject.

It seems I can't play MMOs anymore. I've become an old and angry man.

  4. People want to feel special that they wasted more time than others even though the glamor may look bad. Getting BIS is temporary, loosing time is for life!

  5. Honestly it could've been easier to just make the weapons have the color most associated to the job they're equippable to. People won't have too much complaints about it's design if so.
The farm for it though… I don't understand why they made it like the first step. They could've easily made something better than only just roulettes and yet they didn't. Actually, they could also make it an alternative to the next crafted BiS, to be honest.

  6. I think the WAR weapon is blue to give WAR's a change of pace. How many red/orange fiery axes do we have? I think the blue it's nice personally, adds a little variety. I do agree about dyeing though. Somebody mentioned it'd be nice if Relics had two dye slots, one for the model, and one for the effect. I think that'd be awesome, it would give everyone a nice level of customization on their big glowy weapons.

  7. For how much ARR gets knocked for story being a low point, in hindsight it sure did a lot of other things better in comparison to the new expansions. Gear got streamlined to have no horizontal progression, dungeons got streamlined to not being mazes. Now we’ve even come full circle to where the Relic step gets complained about for being too easy versus being the ‘miserable’ chore that was the ARR Relic.

Just goes to show everyone’s a dumb dumb and SE will never make everyone happy with what they make

So instead of complaining about every little thing just enjoy the goddamn game and if you simply can’t, enough with the noise and just unsub.

  8. Imagine how cool it would be if you would get a relic at the start of the expansion and you can upgrade it over the course of the expansion and it matches Savage Weapon in strength so that you can still decide to not do it without sacrificing BiS. That way people have extra content and the ones who only care about raiding can just get the crafted/savage/ultimate weapons. Relic would be grind and savage/ultimate would be skill as in how you get it

  9. relics should come out with new content like bozja or eureka, i dont understand why they didnt do that man, its lazy as fck of them to just give it to you for free

  10. The stats with them and matria should make it just a tad lower in dps compared to the savage weapon.
Yeah others have checked and for rpr it’s a 52.36 dps difference.

  11. If it was on bar with the BIS weapon, then the relic quest shouldn't be such an easy hand out.
"The older relics felt like an accomplishment when completed. These current ones lack that luster like 1st grade participation reward thats the the same reward as 1st place cause "Everyones a Winner!"

  12. i just wish there was new, fresh content. there isnt just the 2 extremes of "just buy the relic lol" and "run crystal tower 30 times", like a lot of people think. New content could be created, they could link it to a new variant dungeon or something, would give people a reason to run this new type of content that SE introduced without any reasons to run it more than once

  13. As a Paladin player I don't like the glow color, nor do I like how the weapon dyes. They have the technology to make dye effect glow color, but it only affects very specific weapons thus far, including the new Eureka Orthos weapons. The majority of dyeable relic weapons are color coded rather poorly due to their specific glow effect colors.

If we had more horizontal progression the art team would be more incentivized to make each 'high end' weapon stand out from one another. Instead of ending up with questionable dye options and mediocre weapon designs.

One example goes back to the Heavensward artifact weapons wherein the final form has good glowing affects but cannot be dyed, but there is a non-glowy version via Centurio seals which can be dyed. Why didn't they make the final step dyeable too? It baffles me.
