  1. Making woke lamecat the main character was a mistake. I hope she stays where she belongs in Tuliyollal next expansion, if she becomes part of the main group long term I am not gonna be happy and I am sure many other people feel the same. I think she might be the worst final fantasy character ever conceived, definitely a contender to some of the ff13 cast. I think I would rather listen to a whole hour of vanille's inner monologue, than hear 1 more second of wuk lamat speak and that is saying something. We were told this expansion was going to be a vacation, but what we got was mental torture. This is the first time in ff14, I have ever felt like my character has no impact in the story. I felt like a side character the entire time.

Ironically, I actually have no problem with the EN VA for wuk lamat. I think they actually done a good job for the most part except for a few scenes like that 1 scene everyone complains about at the end of the game which actually got re-voiced because it was so bad. It is not the voice, it is the words the voice spoke. I think the core problem is the writing of the story hinging all around wuk lamat, and wuk lamat being a poorly written and uninteresting character. Another thing that bugged me about wuk lamat is they were so goofy, they didn't strike me as someone who could rule at all. They were like a final fantasy version of jar jar binks from star wars XD. They could have just not had wuk lamat at all, and hinged the story all around krile trying to find her origin and the story would have been 10x better.

  2. At first, I didn't mind Wuk Lamat even before DT's release and thinking she'd be a fun character to hang out with. And the tournament, I thought it WOULD be a tournament. Like fighting and such? Like we come to Tural and visit the spots and wait for the next date for each match and come with Wuk Lamat to help win… or have Wuk Lamat train under the Warrior of Light would've been cool too.

    But instead we got this.

And then the second half… oh boy, it got grating. Not to mention if felt like I jump into a different story in the middle of story I was playing. I was excited on the wild west part with Erenville going to meet his mother, then the crazy happened.

Now I don't mind Solution Nine and the raid tied to it (the Arena is AWESOME), but holy smokes everything felt rushed and the final battle. Great music, but Wuk Lamat just showing up in the end like that. I would've mind if she showed up AFTER we won.

I still love FF14. The story from ARR to EW and the characters are great and still things to do and I LOVE Viper as I finally have a Dual Sword class (but I prefer Ninja's way or holding the swords and the running animation). I never been so tempted to skip cutscenes in a game before, but I didn't yet I kinda tuned out. And Yoshi-P and the team are STILL planning on giving us more Wuk Lamat…

Just… just lessen the screen time of her PLEASE! She's like Naruto, but taken the wrong lessons why we love Naruto and making him overbearing.

  3. I tried getting into the game with ARR and after 50 hours I quit.
I don't want to imagine just how bad Dawntrail must be to be able to kill the vibes of years long enfranchised players enough to make them quit or take a break.

  4. I have to agree! I hate woke Lamet and she was terrible, annoying and one of the worst characters what was annoying me. The whole last battle annoys me and I do not care what people think… That and trans character or not. That voice does not match that design.

  5. The sheer amount of people here who quit an mmo over one 'bad' expansion is pathetic.
personally I enjoyed Dawntrail but, the sheer vitriol and whining I'm seeing from people here and there is pathetic.

  6. I just finished storm blood but I am taking my time and checking out alt game modes outside of roulettes and msq. I love the game, but I can tell I won’t like the DT story, so no hurry to hit 100 I guess

  7. as an opening of a “NEW” saga, dawntrail is just an overstretched old saga, yoshi p keep mentioning he wants to make a new mmo, now he got his chance to make something new, he fumbled,

i also disappointed with the fans, i’m a loyal fans too but those people still trying to be meat rider, they kept getting excited for same animations, lazy cutscenes, cinematic, and lazy ahh designs npc from character creations, sure yeah the lighting and textures updates are good, but nothing really new with character models or physics, hell nah even one hairstyle drop (which was designed by the fan) they’re excited for it, over 10 years rarely got new “good” hairstyles their excuse was just like making long hairstyles will clip this or that, and even faces models, its the same freaking faces models for over 10. years.. their allergies making something new or modeling new models is insane, they just go mix matches existing resources and reskin the same outfits and call it a day

there’s more stuffs that they can put more efforts into it but they just don’t, imagine teasing new armors or outfits still pulling out a papers in the livestream, hello what year is this? 90s ? people can be blind when they love something but it shouldn’t be that hard to see it.. ..

  8. Remember this DLC was in production when SQUARE was working with Sweet Baby. I wouldn't be surprised Sweet Baby told them "western gamers would love this character to be the primary focus of the story."

  9. Ive said this on other channels and i cant believe im saying it again. Its a okay expansion, Wuk isnt the problem yall are. Yes shes the MC of this story we arnt, but thats okay, i know they hyped up this as "The Beach Episode" but i think it changed somewhere, mixed signals with story writters. I feel as if "Woke Gaming" which is bafflingly hilarious to me, isnt the problem gamers are the problem. We expect so much and when we get slightly burned, we raise the proverbial tourch and pitchforks. Its sad. People need to give this a chance to get to the point that Endwalker was. It took 10 years to get to that point, and that was the end of 2.0s original story and putting a bow on it. Time to start fresh, and its hard to live up to expectations with that on your back. Be kinder and wait, ride it out, and we might get a better expansion later on.

  10. Another thing about wuk lamat is she never says anything new. It's always the same dialogue
    "Let's do our best"
    " we can do this"
    "Let's have tacos"
    Overly Expresses disbelief
    Overly Expresses ignorance
    OverlyExpresses frustrations
    Overly Expresses concern

The character is pushed too hard with very little development or growth.
As someone who has been playing the game since launch and enjoying the story each expansion I simply can't enjoy any part of the story when she is involved. I enjoy when the story brings in a character that is more familiar rather her because when I talk to the lover characters they say intelligent things they move story Wuk Lamat seems to slog it down and then everyone has to explain what is happening to her. It's like she just doesn't grasp anything ever at all.
She is pointless in the plot.

The writing for her is just bad it'd almost like the writers don't know what to do with her and they are doing a very good job of giving her a character arch that is evolving fast enough.

  11. The main reason this was allowed to happen has to be because YoshiP was likely distracted with FFXVI.

Edited to add: Woke Lame-at made me do something that I haven't done in XIV for nearly a decade; skip cutscenes on purpose.

  12. I don’t hate Wuk Lamat as a character but I do hate how she usurps the player as the main character stealing our thunder EVERY SINGLE TIME she gets the chance, the writing around her growth is only half finished, and the actress assigned to her English role was an amateur at best. So we were stuck following around a character who never let the WoL be a hero, we’re supposed to be her mentor but got little to no story of us being that and instead she just magically becomes this complete powerhouse through “the power of friendship” so we just end up being an emotional support friend in a contest we barely help win

  13. DT was an interesting change of pace not being the main focus, but honestly Wuk Lamat & DT are not the key problems. As much as I've loved this game (major desktop PC rebuilds for each expansion), it's formula is getting stale. Give me FFXI with FFXIV's graphics and other improvements (excluding queues an easy teleportation) and we'll have a new gem.

  14. Been playing FF14 on and off since 2014. Only have around 2k hours. I usually get one for a month or two for new content. Dawntrail was the first expansion ever where I skipped story dialogue. I just couldn't take it anymore. The story was not good and it makes me sad 😢
