Hello Hello Hello everyone I am Jmulls of Jmulls Gaming and welcome to my little corner of the internet!
Walkthroughs, First Impressions, Critique and Reviews for all things video games, by someone who loves video games!
In today’s video, I tell my story of World of Warcraft. Why I fell in love with WOW, my journey through WOW, and why I stopped playing it. I also explain why I started to play and love Final Fantasy XIV!

Wow… this summarized my own experience to the letter (except the PvP part
). I didnt gave Shadowlands a try because my passion for WoW died during… 8.3 I think… Horrific Visions. The stories were still epic, going to Nazjatar and getting literally swallowed by the sea was pretty cool. But there was no real connection any more: I stopped caring.
I've found my way to FF14 by pure coincident, I watched some videos here on YT and I fell in love just by seeing it on someone elses screen. Sometime the anime-style in cinematics and even music is a little jarring but I happily accept it if I can enjoy this treat of a game. I got up at 3am to watch the entire live-stream of the FanFestival and my love for this game got cemented. I never have the feeling of burn-out, I set my own goals and labor to reach them. There is no grind unless I wand it (all relic weapons – I havent forgotten…), there is no carrot dangling in front of me saying I just have to do some more world quests to fill up another 10k rep for another chest with loot – praying to the rng-gods that maybe, just maybe!, this time the desired mount pops out. Only to be disappointed once again and starting the grind anew – and again, and again, and again… RNG certainly has its reason but getting the same bracers from my weekly chest five times in a row… … Need I say more? In FF14 your labor and the rewards are predictable: I know if I run Delubrum 15 times, I have my relic weapon. I know if I run a Trial Ex 5 times, chances are that the mount drops at least once. I know if I run Icecrown 500 times… the mount still wont drop, while the other dude gets it on his first try.
I wont way more… I read some comments here and they already said what I would've wanted to say
Thanks for sharing your memories and I'm looking forward for more.
I have bounced between FF and WoW for years, and with WoW it was always nostalgia that would bring me back just long enough to get bored with the entire experience and going back to FF and finding that over time they were making enough quality of life changes that most of the things I disliked about it to begin with were no longer problems.
ARR was probably the least interesting for me until the very end of the MSQ with the Red Wedding moment, so I find it hard to convince people to try it out long enough to actually appreciate the game from level 45+ but assure them that Heavensward will earn their continued subscription.
I am just starting the Shadowbringers MSQ on my 72 WHM and loving it. Shadowlands was so totally unfun that I just can't be bothered, and I really did try.
Welcome and have fun
Switching to FFXIV is the best move any WoW player can make. With how disrespectful the WoW team is at punishing and limiting their customers, only masochists make sense for that game anymore.
Man lately ive been getting video recommendations of ppl either leaving wow for ffxiv or why they like ffxiv better.
As a ffxiv player since 8 years + all jobs maxed we're excited to have you ^_^ <3
Whenever FFXIV announces they're going to release something:
Me: "Well! let's see what Blizz is going to try and release on the exact same day this time."
i love these videos lol i went back for Shadowlands and only played for 2weeks and came back to FFXIV and I prob wont ever go back for anymore WoW expacs. FFXIV is just a better game and I was more into PvP into WoW, goes to show how good the content is
still amuses me greatly that in a world of everything has to be free to play these days ffxiv is still killing it with a sub.. WOW is over there just beating a dead horse at this point they should of ended it 5 years ago and focused on a new and exciting mmo .. clearly bad leadership and milking the hard core whales is there thing
man your intro broke my ears
Bfa was garbage so much content that did not transfer to the next exp. And gosh the systems we had. Was so disturbing.
I'm gonna take the leap into FF14 again, SL has milked me for all my good faith with Blizz-ivision
We are not the same. I found ff14 to have pretty much no endgame, and WAY too much questing.
We dont all play games for "community". We aren't playing for meaningful relationships, etc. We want good endgame, max level content. Unfortunately, wow dominates this area
I'll be joining ff14 soon, quit wow and looking at 9.1 it's going to be incredibly boring and mundane like bfa and shadowlands
Played wow since vanilla and have been feeling all the things you discuss, but couldn't really figure out what was wrong. Especially the reflection on the nostalgia from days long gone with great wow memories, and wondering why I couldn't recapture those feelings and moments any more. You summed everything up perfectly and helped me put my finger on why I was not enjoying wow nowadays. Started my free trial to FFXIV today. Maybe it will be for me, maybe not. But you make a great point – we need to give ourselves permission to move on to new things we may enjoy and not let great experiences of the past chain us to poor experiences in the present. Thank you!
Welcome aboard!!
Fun Fact : Original A Realm Reborn was so bad that there are videos of the game shutting down – The sun falling down on Eorzea. And now here we are.
P.S. No offense but might want to re-name the video – I Remember
Stay in my memory, where you belong.
Totally agree with WOW being a daily chore. As a casual player, you can enjoy more and get achieve more in FF14.
I might be late to the party, but welcome to FFXIV!
I've subbed to you.
So happy to see such a passionate person join the community. <3
Nice
I quit runescape in 2007 to play wow and quit wow after a month of cataclysms release to play other games.. gone back to wow several times over the years depending on the expansion but after legion expansion I really haven't played all that much and one of the games that I've tried out over the years has been final fantasy 14 but I've recently purchased the expansions and serious about playing it now retail wow just does not interest me at all in fact it makes me angry every time I log in because I feel like I'm doing the same old thing that I've been doing for years and wow only it's just repackaged with a new skin to make it look new.
Good move; I think people just defend WoW because they've played it for so long. FF XIV has a better community, better graphics, story, etc… And you can play whatever job you want on the same character!
I remember starting a guild back in vanilla. It grew to a point where we were running two MC raids, two sets of 40 people in order to get the full guild it’s weekly run. I was the guild leader, I’ll never forget that. I remember saving and finally buying my first epic mount in wow, I’ll never forget it. I remember when the AQ gates opened and for what seemed like the first time ever, the horde and alliance were not fighting and just mesmerized by the event happening in front of us. Those days are clearly over, I also am now playing final fantasy. Tho I don’t know if it’s better, it’s just a new experience, and that’s exciting and fun right now
I tried FF but it just wasn't my cup of tea but I'm glad others are finding a franchise that treats them like valuable customers, unlike Actibliz
Just a little question..
I know theres a Danish Guild on Phoenix……but how in the big butthole do i find it…
The game has no general chat, no trade chat NOTHING
Bearly any FF gameplay footage, and we know why lol
Tried FF several times. Not my thing. I think where I am able to stick playing wow though is that it isn't my only game. So easy to avoid burnout or not get angry when it slows down in content. I will play wow until it ends… does not mean I will pay a sub every month until then. Guild wars 2 was a fun time during the 3 years I played, upcoming AOC looks promising, ESO was a fun time for a few years. All these games I played during the slow times in wow and it made me happy to have content to experience without anger towards blizzard either.
I don’t play MMOs. But the wait for final fantasy XV was loooong and people did not have an idea what game it will be. So i got friend to play and we started off with FF XiV…. that was seven years ago…. and we never stopped playing. Playing other games in between.
But the funny part is both of us never played FF XV when it finally came out. XiV was so good, we didn’t care for XV.
NNooooooooo
Hi nice vids i have almost the same story//Played Since Vanilla Lauch Day//After seeing how blizz treath is player at at point i was like you know fuck it il play just to enjoy,While i was waiting For Classic WoW–to TBC downtime patch i tried FF14 trial it took me like 5-6 gaming session i had hard time breaking the 'WoW' barried(combat, graphic ect…)but at one point evrything fell into piece!! This game kick some serious ass Storie so Far amazing!!(im a 40DRG)Job/to 1 charACTER IS AMAZING!Music like you say on point i sing them trough the day for no reason,Then I played TBC classic for 4 rampart run and seeing how streamer threathed the game(lvl 70 in 24h with all there face long in slave pen i say fuck it i dont enjoy WoW and is community is Mehh now Here i am hooked on FF14!! i benched this game for so many year what a mistake Try it people its awesome.!!!
Ff14 will draw in more players If they ever fix their awful pvp system. I keep reading the devs care a lot about their players but until End walker (where supposedly going to work on pvp) takes five expansions to work on it?
The major issue they will face is what wow is experiencing, too many classes, one will be more superior then the other creating a meta, then months in those meta classes will get tuned down, buff another class (maybe) and creating an endless cycle of buffs, nerfs, etc.
Wow is dead
I’m someone who always wanted to play WoW I spent a lot of time on final fantasy.
When I was in middle school I loved wow when it first came out. Ffxiv came out the year after I graduated high school. And the one thing that I disliked about wow is how we were a side character the entire time. We did all this amazing stuff but we weren't the MAIN character.
And now? Idk I've been watching blizzard fail to understand their consumers since after the first year of overwatch. And they've been getting more and more out of touch. Especially with wow.
The newest expansion caused a mass exodus to xiv of wow content creators because they're tired of being ignored and they are hurt that it feels the dev's no longer care for the game.
And they've been hearing how much love and care xiv gets from yoshi p, soken. And the rest.
I've been playing xiv for 10 years now and I don't regret it. I regret not paying closer attention to the side NPCs that come and go with the story because so many have their own tales to tell.
tl:dr; FFXIV is wicked good and WoW has become a pissah.
When i got into gaming, all i had was a playstation 3 at the time and finally got the internet connected (house i lived in was so old it had no phonelines).
I played a lot of the older final fantasy games growing up and heard ffxi was online only, I just came off from playing Oblivion and skyrim on ps3 and oneday on the front cover of a playstation australia magizine i seen the ffxiv 1.x warrior of light when he was a archer class (look up the old trailer) and read the article a bunch of times waiting for the game that never came.
after 2 years i got the chance to join the ffxiv 2.0 beta trial they did on pc and playstation3 and it was a lot of fun, difficult to learn from a casual non mmo gamer but fun all the same.
i bought the collectors ps3 and played it and updated to a ps4 verison later and now on pc version (yes, i still use controller).
I broke off ffxiv for a time looking for other games to try, i even tried wow, gw2 and several others but nothing could keep me engaged or the story was lacking or missing something the further i got in them so i came back to ffxiv and made a brand new character and replayed the whole story once more.
Also ex wow casual here who started with FFXIV 1 1/2 months ago. The FF Community has been really welcoming and for me the community difference is one of the biggest reason why i started to love ffxiv. I was doing Fates for shb relic weapon and was invited by other people who were doing them. Some went offline after some hrs cause of time but others stayed even tho they finished doing them already. Staying and helping out lending a hand with nothing rlly to gain for it. These kind acts and moments happen so often for me in ffxiv and i just love it. The story hooked me in the middle of ARR and my god if you found arr good you will love hw sb and shb :D. I actually started to love leveling. I get sidetracked alot and just do the stuff i have fun doing trying out stuff i havent done before, finding fun in those too and just the whole game is rlly refreshing and fun to play. You feel invited and welcomed as a new player in FFXIV thats atleast my experience. Hope you will enjoy the game more
WOW PVP sounds really balanced, lol.
Welcome to the game! Glad to have you and all wow vets as part of the community!
key difference, Bliz devs listen to themselves only FF14 devs listen to the players,
Welcome to FFXIV bro, realyl sorry about this but this video seems like a massive ramble, it would help you and your content if you structured it more, like break down talking about why you left, what was the final starw, your journey into ffxiv, your experiences in ffxiv, where you are now.
Atm this video is just a 25-minute ramble which isn't too enjoyable as content.
Welcome to Eorzea!
Welcome to the Holmgang bossman
game is designed for hardcore PVE M+ Myth Raid.
PVP is inbalanced AF
(3 Meta Classes) vs FF XIV PVP balanced.
yeah me too i just dont care anymore even if blizz change completly i mdont even know if i would go back. i just have 15 days left to play and then the sub is over and im just playing the alts to lvl them to max lvl and thats all i do right now in wow the current game i dont play anymore.
i started playing wow with the beta and love wow but like how it is im jsut annoyed and exhausted from wow … no from bliz!!!
Forever AFKed and become Warrior of Light since ridiculous anticlimactic Argus and BFA. May the mother crystal guide you, don’t forget the Endwalker in this Fall !
coz it's shit mate l0l
