are vipers really that bad? I've been playing viper and only doing duty support but it doesn't seem that undertuned. it doesn't have any defensive abilities outside of role actions though, so I gereby diagnose skill issue

(Also we had this exact same problem with Reaper at the start of Endwalker, a lot of unskilled players just greed too hard)

Game has been running great, except the fps drops im getting around crowds and hubs even though the benchmark said i was good to go
maybe you are bringing some awful plague I have been fighting with a violent cough for weeks =< also Viper seems to be doing bad in dungeons but they seem to be very good damage wise in pvp though I just might be a crazy person lol

The fact that WoL isn't in center of attention and it seem to be story of Wuk Lamat with WoL being side character make me more feel pulled into a story even more. Cuz we are basically a mentor (yes, cool mentors are your friends when you are in need) to her one way or another on her journey! HOW COOL IS THAT?! So yeah, DT teaches you how to be a good mentor, so far 10/10, case closed, the end.

I agree with you on nearly every point. The first half (lvl 90-96) was completely devoid of any intrigue aside from the everyone hyping up the golden city. It was just a bit too straight-forward for my liking. But yeah, things definitely pick up after the ceremony though.
I was very pleased with the near-instant queues during such high-traffic periods.
Oh guess you didn't go too far deep into the story.
I got my reservations. Mostly post Solution 9 tour I feel the story took a dip.
I really enjoyed the first half (succession contest) and the start of the second half. I'll wait for a future video to discuss more.

my bestie is a viper main now and he's never found a class he meshed with well other than blackmage. I've never seen him this happy in an expansion ever. Not to mention becoming a female hrothgar made him excited af. And having done the story already, I loved every bit of it. and Wuk Lamat's VA did a fantastic job. And to see the subtle representation of fellow Trans people made me happy af too. And trust me, it wasn't JUST Wuk Lamat in there. đ
Dawntrail's graphics update, too, was fantastic. I've never enjoyed this game more than I have now. And as a Sge/Sam/War main myself, i've never been happier with their changes. Square did a fantastic job.
For those that dislike Wuk Lamut…. bear in mind. She is a 16 year old female kitten….
People cried for a "story without the Scions" and where you aren't the hero, this is exactly that, and suddenly 90% of the complaints are about how they don't like the character the story is focusing on, that the Scions aren't there and that the player doesn't do anything but observe. What a surprise lmao. I always saw it as an anime game with cringe on purpose. Heroic cool moments are what people enjoy, everyone loved being the hero and Endwalker's story was well received as well. People whining on reddit and twitter about that are a minority.
I didn't like the story much, it wasn't bad, but pretty mid. Imo Sphene, Solution 9, the lizard dad and the insanely good visual presentation saved it. It relies too much on people individually liking Wuk Lamat which is hard with a character coming out of nowhere and you not having motivations to help her. Alphinaud wasn't annoying at least and you were in it together with Heavensward, so people accept him without complaints after all these years. Since the focus on her is so crass, the standards for people liking her are very high. Can be as simple as "I don't like looking at furries" which might sound weird, but with so much time of her being around us it's a valid individual complaint. She's not a very subtle character and very "in your face", so pretty controversial by her existence itself

Wuk Lamat is precious. It's just that there's too much of her. This doesn't feel like our story, but someone else's. And I hope they don't use the same formula of storytelling going onward.

Wuk Lamat is only bad because of her VA not having any sort of inflections of what's going on. Greatest example is the last trial she is unwilling to budge from her tone it's the same voice you hear from the beginning.
As usual it's very refreshing coming here after taking a glimpse into the abyss that are the forums or social media or… y'know, even just the main feed of youtube.
I'm glad to hear commentary from someone who really enjoyed the story so far, although I've only finished the first foray into urqopacha at this moment in time.

If i had to put something for each, the good would be the music. I think there has been only a couple of tracks i didnt care for but didnt hate them.
The bad-lack of new dyes, i like the double dye channels but sometimes its hard to get something decent with the current dye colors we have.
The ugly-femhroth joining the NTR hat club. I could give SB a bit of a pass since they were introduced and might have been late in developments. EW doesn't since these models were in the game and it was disappointing when getting the pvp set that it viera couldn't wear 2 out of 3 helmets from the pass. now in DT, after changing to femhroth, i can't wear some of the current endgame wizard hats but the full plate drk helm that doesn't elongate to fit the muzzle works fine. How come unpaid modders can fix this but paid developers can't.
Dawntrail is a Masterpiece. The story is great and funny. the music is great, graphics update and new challenges and more rewards. I cant wait for more đ€©

The Ugly? Too many cutscenes. There's a space in the 95-97 range that's about 7000 hours of cutscenes. Enough already. Also, too many walk around with NPC X quests. What, exactly is the point of that? I've been levelling a DPS and haven't had a queue last over 5 minutes yet – have two dungeons and two trials to go… but I didn't run one of the NEW DPS jobs so I was ahead of the curve.
The only thing I havent liked so far at lv98 is Zoral Ja, dude is like lizard Zenos, therefore much lamer, and the fact that he wont be a complete asshole, and is gonna try to sell us on why he is a douche, makes me already cringe ahead of time… if he's gonna be that much on an idiot loser, at least own up to the fact that its what you are.
This effusive, over the top praise for a poorly implemented, acted and written character like Wuk Lamat is exactly why the FF14 has the reputation for toxic positivity that it does.
Calling a bad character a bad character, especially when they are irritatingly present in almost every single moment of the expansion, wonât cancel the game forever. Wuk Lamat being annoying and a chore to always have around also is not world building.
Square took a huge swing on making Wuk Lamat the glaring focal point of their new expansion and they missed hard. Hopefully they learn from this. There was no hype for this expac and the subsequent backlash was well earned. The servers were able to handle the traffic because fewer people are playing than on Endwalker launch. There is your sign.
I think many of you are merely trying to convince yourselves that you love this character and this expansion because you are supposed to love it. You are expected to love it after all the last expansions.
Just stop the effusive praise of a substandard character and talking like this is the best expac ever. It isnât. It pretty much sucked. And it is okay to say that
Im not joking when I say this, there's only one video currently talking about the mixed reviews, and most of the comments aren't taking the guy seriously because, SURPRISE, they're a political content creator. I checked and sure enough, they were right. The guy's complaints are were the story being too political and Wuk Lamat's English VA.
Outside of that, I enjoy this expansion WAY more than Endwalker so far. The encounters are so damn fun and engaging. The new skills for Machinist are also super badass, I especially love the Blazing Shot animation. Haven't tried the other classes yet since I'm currently gearing up my Machinist for the raid
Dawntrail is game of the year.
