Concerns: it will somehow be worse than Endwalker
Thoughts: it will somehow be worse than Endwalker
I had similar criticism towards WOD story backin Heavensward patches. At that time, it was interesting but it didn't go anywhere. We simply learned about the shards, specifically the 1st. When it ended, it felt like it abruptly did so. But with Shadowbringer expansion, retrospectively, it changes the whole feel of it. I mention this because I have a feeling it'll be like this for the Endwalker patches. Somehow in future expansion, they'll reprise their role in an amazing story which will change the vibe of the Endwalker patches.
Hello! Bonjour! Nice video !
For this expansion I'm very demanding on immersive side, because benchmark was awsome in term of animation (facial and move), annimal troops, details in cities. I want to be immerge with story and walking by the upgraded quality.
I'm not concerned really
So far, the writers have proven themselves competent
I really only expect a decent story, some cliffhangers for further developments, and some well done emotional scenes coupled with a banger soundtrack.
So far these expectations have been met consistently and I see no reason why they wouldn't be met again.
My only concern is more Endwalker style fight design.
I don't mind a whole lot of it, especially since (and this is only my opinion, not speaking for anyone else) this is my first expansion actually doing savage content.
I do kind of dislike the boss' hitbox being as large as the arena. For large bosses it makes sense, but smaller ones is kind of strange to see.
I'd ask to make the boss' hitboxes smaller and give tanks the ability to move the boss more. All of them return to center for what seems like every mechanic. There are exceptions, but this is the pattern.
This patch will be a Drama hell scape I can feel it in my bones.
The visual updates will devide people as to what looks better or worse.
The continued or ending of the 2min meta will have people in shambles or celibrating in the streets.
The extra content will always have some sort of design flaw that will need multiple revisions and or nerfs.
We have outspoken so hard about long form grind content that they may jump into the deep end with grind. SE are notorious of being either to much or too little on something.
I remember before I was cought up to endgame hearing about how bad the Relic grind for Shadowbringers was and they needed to fix a seemingly laundry list of things to make it work for people and not be a unfair or defeatingly hard grind to get each step.
You YouTubers will have no end of shit to talk about and drama to unfold.
I watched a streamer do post-EW weekly recently and have a new appreciation for it. The story flows so much better without months of content lulls between patches.
I am officially now pumped for a future return to the 13th expansion, which I'm positive is otw.
I agree DT seems less hyped and that's a good thing. Hopefully the patches will be better paced and balanced than EW.
I think you are on point with this one. People want the gameplay to step up this time. The story can be great and still just be set up for the new arc. By the way, the entire amazing MSQ experience was a lot more than just the big climax moments. It was all the engaging side content, world building, character lore, and other discoveries along the way that made everything click so profoundly. I’m more interested in that this time around personally. Either way, I don’t see how it could disappoint thanks to the masterful conclusion that was Endwalker.
I think there will be some interesting surprises in Dawntrail but I'm doubting they'll have such tense, emotional scenes as the past couple expansions. I think character growth is going to shine, something they already did a lot of during 6.0. I'm not expecting a character death, but I do think maybe some of the Scions should move on to something else that the WoL isn't directly involved in and come tell us about it later. Maybe give the player more agency rather than kind of leading us by the hand the way they have been.
Not really. That's what you a content creator realized I had plenty of fun in endwalker and it is the best expansion
I am confident that they will hit it out of the park. I have enjoyed every single expansion so far, so it would have to take a monumental upheaval of incompetence for this one to be of lesser quality.
The beach episode "mind read" is whacky. This is a story about a new culture and their transition of generational power. It will of course evolve and open up in unexpected ways, so we cannot even comment at this point. Our only evidence is that they routinely write good stories. Zepla has no crystal ball and probably shouldn't be fielding this question to this extent.
I feel like other besides astro and dragoon we won’t get sweeping job changes. We shall seeeee
Temper your expectations is the phrase
my expectations are so low, not even the graphics update can disappoint me
I don't have any high expectations for the story itself. It already peaked with SHB/EW for me, and I won't mind if it's a beach episode, it doesn't need to top anything, just needs to be fun, but i am concerned with the patches as well. I just hope the dungeons, trials, raids, quests, and actual concrete solid content in the game is well….solid lol. I just hope I have fun playing the game and being immersed just as I did before. When you finally hit that engame wall of like, ,"There's definitely plenty of other things to do in this game, but i want another xpac"
With the way the post-patch story has gone, I haven't really been into the way the writing has been going. I expect DT to be Stormblood 2.0, not so much "new worst expansion" but rather worry doing too much at once and not fleshing out either side again. Although without it taking place on completely seperate sides of the world it could go much smoother.
While I like the scions I wanted more of the "split up the scions" that the post-EW started, the scions have a lot of characters to be shoving everyone into every expansion now, here we even had to mention how Cid wasn't called on the whole time. If Krile integrates into the "main party" that's another character they have to juggle into the cast so I hope in the future some of them get less time in an expansion so the others can have more spotlight and bring others back in patches or the next expac.
Gameplay-wise it's really obvious the lack of any Eureka/Bozja at this point is simply untenable for the playerbase size, there are people who do want to play the game, and I'll be blunt and say even as someone who wanted a new Deep Dungeon I hated the difficulty jump the new one has, along with the aesthetics (both the dungeon and its rewards) so I lost interest to do it after floor 30.
Criterion dungeons I'm not sure how long will "last" since they are level synced and while people may do all the story portions, I doubt anyone will be playing a previous expansion savage for gear unless its Ultimate BiS. Wonder if in DT they will be able to be unsynced or left "as is" similar to Ultimates.
I have low expectations. I also expect Dawntrail to be great.
Dawntrail, A Realm Re-Reborn
Endwalker MSQ was mid and was just a giant fan-service from the start to finish, celebrating the end, a victory lap or end-walk if you will. If you liked it, awesome (I am not gatekeeping your experience), but I found the post patches more interesting in exploring more of what I have questions to, then squaring off against a teenager and her dad experiencing an existential crisis and throwing a tantrum over it.
Heavensward: I don't see how they can top this.
Stormblood: I don't see how they can top this
Shadowbringers: I don't see how they can top this.
Endwalker: I don't see how they can top this.
Every expansion has been better than the last.
But not every story has been better than the last.
Thing is, it's ultra premium gaming. 60 dollar expansion and 15 per month? Thats a lot for a story skipper like me. Im just not very interested in the story, or at least in the format of mute cutscenes with no voice acting and stock animations.
I like what the story is often, but i dont like how its told.
Yeah the FF community cannot tolerate criticism.
Lastly, i cant weave 3 more ogcds so i dunno where the gameplay growth is going to go.
Regarding main character deaths: I don't think anyone is going to die this expac. The main reason is because I am 99.99999% convinced Zero will sacrifice her life to save her new friends in a near expac and THAT death will be huge. Think about it… her character arc has been to slowly realize the power of friendship and sacrifice. Where does that lead? A selfless sacrifice. A hero's death.
My guess is we are towards the end of the expansion hear from Zero that there is some destabilization of the 13th and we travel to the 1st to find that it is happening to the 1st as well. post .1-.5 is trying to figure out what is going on, then next expansion is going somewhere new to get the means for us to travel to all the shards. the next 2 will be going back and forth between different shards and the end of the 10 year at the last content patch will be our WoL volunteering to become the next Hydaelyn, to keep the shards from all collapsing into the source at the same time. then comes FF18 where there is a long time skip and we reenter the world of Etheirys anywhere from 50-500 years later.
They develop very very safely and dont take creative risks. Technological risks but not creative risks.
So i just dont see why i would pay for more of the same. Especially if I disagree with the skill creep. Too many buttons.
That sounds like wow escalation, it didn't work for them.
i think dawn trail is going to set up us saving the 13 and the 1st they left it there to read into last patch
Shadowbringers took us to a different world with new rules and its own lore. Dawntrail is going to take us to a "new world" with new rules and its own lore. I trust this writer after what happened with Shadowbringers, it's gonna be fun.
I'm willing to marry you so you don't get deported. If your asylum claim is under threat of running out. That's the loophole to US immigration If you marry a citizen you able to stay. Or to anyone out there if you need to move to the US I'm available.
The flip side of ending a major Saga is that they haven't yet set up what the next saga is. Every patch they don't the overall story is in a bit of a limbo.
There's a lack of a hook so far. There's nothing I'm specifically looking forward to in Dawntrail's story, because we don't really have any stakes or major threat in the story setup. We're going to Tural for some kind of succession contest, but its not clear what that is or what the full stakes are. We'll fight the boss shown the trailers, but we don't really know why. Solution 9 could be interesting, but we don't have much to go on. There's no Empire or Ascians anymore to worry about, nor any replacements for them.
DT will likely have lots of story that is a complete surprise, like ShB and END did, and I hope it's good.
It's just a bit frustrating waiting months for the story to restart again. It's hard to not be a bit unexcited until then personally. A story without stakes is hard to get invested in.
