Why FFXIV's Community is SIGNIFICANTLY Less Toxic than WoW's!!

Whether you want to admit it or not, FFXIV’s community is significantly less toxic than WoW’s at the moment and will likely continue to be so. More notes Blizz should be taking from Square Enix if you ask me.

  1. Square enix is a commie skum agenda pushing company. They donated 250k to the domestic terrorist organization BLM. Dont support any of their games…

  2. The magic sauce of MMO's had always been player interaction.
These days you have either a highly competitive scene that is not toxic only amongst close friends or like in the case of Warframe where the lack of a class system and the overemphasis on nuking full mobs has made players antisocial fucktards, for which I'm guilty as charged.

  3. No, LFR isnt the problem, its the players. FF14 has the same with Group Finder and players still dont crack down on you. You might get a crazzy tank who doesnt wait and care for his healer, you might have a dps who thinks the tank is too slow and pulls the rest of the dungeon… but in general people are much more considerate of their fellow players. Whereas in WoW, I remember a LFR group in Nighthold where people were only lashing out at each other because half the group didnt know the fights (I mean, it was LFR, of course people dont know mechanics, thats why they run LFR). But those who knew, didnt bother to explain anything. And that happened so often: instead of helping each other, people talk trash and then cry in the Forums about LFR being the death of the game. I have no idea where this mentality comes from. I mean you'd think people want at least to finish this fast. Instead of explaining stuff they insult people, making live miserable for everyone. The root of the problem lies with the players from the start, LFR/LFG only put a spotlight on it, especially LFR.

  4. I find the introduction of 'Looking For Group/Raid' to not necessarily be the driving force behind the downfall of community within WoW. A good counter point is the Duty Roulette within FF14 and having it since, I believe, day 1. The cause I feel comes down to how the communities utilize the system and how the games themselves are designed/managed. In WoW, there is a stronger sense of competition and the 'us vs them' with the factions. There is also the design of Mythic + and the need to fulfill the objective within a set time frame. If someone with the group doesn't fulfill their portion of responsibility there is a negative outcome at the expense of the owner of the M+ key. Thus, providing the ground with which a hostile nature can take root since the vast majority of the community takes part in this system. While also having very little GM intervention to deal with hostile/toxic behavior.

Meanwhile, within FF14, there isn't as strong of a competitive design within the game overall. Sure, there are world/server first runs but that level of competition has a smaller impact on the whole of the community. The rest of the game is designed more along the lines of working together to overcome the obstacle that your party will face. Even the narrative of the story, which many consider to be the selling point, focuses of working with others to overcome adversity. Not to mention that there is a heavy hand when it comes to dealing with those that would negatively impact the experience of others by both the GMs and the community itself.

  5. Not anymore. In the 3 weeks since this has been published and the WoW community has finally fully rushed onto FFVIX its gone straight to "Lol die now you worthless tank" to "learn to heal lolz" and everything in every public raid or duty I've been in. I don't even recognize the game anymore.

  6. Didn't watch video to not be biased. But my take as a long time player of WoW, yes the community is toxic and have grown much more toxic towards Blizzard and the players over the last couple of years.
I don't think its fully the players fault, I think a lot of it is also the way WoW is designed. One example is the way high end dungeons (mythic +) is designed. In mythic + you get an item that increases the dungeons difficulty and gives it a certain time to complete the dungeon. If you complete the dungeon you can get into higher difficulty and get better reward if not your item reduces in difficulty and you need to regrind for hours to get it back to the same level sometimes. So this system in WoW created a big meta of certain specs which are good and the rest sucks and people don't want u to give a chance to try out the dungeon if u havent done exactly the same dungeon on exactly same difficulty and if u don't play the meta class. Also mistakes during these dungeons can result in anger and toxicity.

So meta classes/specs themselves are also a fun design of WoW. The classes just bring much more utility, surviveability and damage that other specs which would make the runs much easier. Alot of specs are just in a shitty position that people have difficulty doing any group content with strangers.
    – Same thing going on in whole PvP and raids btw.

Also I don't think that WoW is really a teamwork game outside the raids, dungeons etc. When I am traveling through the world I havent once really teamed up with someone except like a world boss which u do once a week.
Also there is almost no social events that bring the players closer together.

Other thing is I think is a problem is the communication between Blizzard and its players is really bad. Every patch players are tasked to test out the new patch in thr PTR, during these times a lot of feedback like bugs, class imbalances or the gameplay feels really off. And when the patch is released it feels like Blizzard did nothing with all the feedback OR they made it clear that they disagree with the feedback given and then proceed giving the players the content they enjoy. Which is really really frustrating btw.
