  1. I played WoW for about 4 months. I was a Panda or something. I played ffxi for like 12 years, and ffxiv since the beginning. What I noticed about WoW was that in that game, you are a peon… just another soldier in their huge army, and you are expendable. I didn't feel like I my character was valued at all. I just did the tasks they told me to do. In FFXIV, you are the warrior of light, savior of Eorzia, in direct communication with a deity responsible for keeping all the worlds whole. The NPC's fangirl all over you and would ask for selfies if there were phones in the game. So yeah, that's what I though about character differences in relations to MSQ in both games.

  2. Ok, so there's a big piece of the puzzle that Zakk doesn't have yet when it comes to the community and that's the endgame. In WoW you spend all week getting shit together for your raid and if someone fucks up, it screws over all the work everyone put in for the week. Where in FFXIV the only weekly lockout is the loot. You can try a fight over and over again with no negative repercussions until you get your drop for the week.

  3. I haven't really watched any of his stuff until recently, and like many others in the XIV community i only knew him as Asmongold. Seeing his "real" self on his ZackRawrr channel was a pleasant surprise, i didn't expect him to be this grounded and chill outside his streamer personality. It's great to see how much he enjoys the game, how earnest he approaches all content and how fair he critiques XIV's flaws.

  4. honoustly i havnt had that much trouble with ff14 websites, log into mogstation, add gametime/cancel gmaetime. purchase optional items and so on. purchased game threw steam, logon to mogstation, enter steam CD key to upgrade accnt, like i dont get whats actually so hard for people to get? its actually pretty user friendly from my exp. now nintendo i agree with, the time it takes to add and remove cards then go to a different section to puchase and then back to settings to remove card payment details, that i understand

  5. I think the spectacle comes down to how FFXIV has been held back by popular assumptions that it was cringe or weeb, which is obviously not true, but exist nonetheless, and watching the biggest MMO streamer out there come around to it with so much alacrity feels like the ultimate approval.

  6. Massive 2020 All-Final Fantasy poll by Japan's public broadcaster NHK: Favorite Final Fantasy game: #5 Final Fantasy XIV (2010-). Favorite Final Fantasy Character: #6 Emet-Selch (FFXIV); #12 Haurchefant Greystone (FFXIV); 20. Crystal Exarch (FFXIV); #42 Estinien Wyrmblood (FFXIV); #46 Ardbert (FFXIV); #51 Y'shtola Rhul (FFXIV); #58 G'raha Tia (FFXIV); #60 Alisaie Leveilleur (FFXIV); #65 Alphinaud Leveilleur (FFXIV). Three Final Fantasy XIV characters in the Top 75 Favorite Final Fantasy Characters are the characters Zack aka Asmongold is taking about in regard to redemption and whatnot. The top two most acclaimed FFXIV expansions, Heavensward and Shadowbringers, seem to have much to do with the popularity of these FFXIV characters in Japan.

Meoni strongly dislikes, if not actively hates, Alisaie. That's too bad for him. 😉

This huge Japanese All-Final Fantasy poll took place before the releases of Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers 5.3, so we don't know how much these releases have affected the popularity of Final Fantasy games and characters in Japan.

    SPOILERS

The three Final Fantasy XIV characters I'm talking about are, of course, Emet-Selch, Estinien, and Ardbert.

Anyone who's done the dragoon job quto at least level 50 knows about Estinien's background. My first class/job in FFXIV was lancer/dragoon, so I was surprised to see Estinien back, and back on the good side, late in A Realm Reborn. And, if I recall correctly, so was my main player character.

A lot of what went wrong with Estinien in the A Realm Reborn dragoon quests has much to do with the corrupting influence of Nidhogg's eye.

Even a high-born noble, Charlemend de Durendaire – who's no pure evil villain by any means – used to look down his nose on "low-born people." But he's atoning for his sins by helping others, regardless of birth or status, in the Ishgardian Restoration custom deliveries, the other being the delightful female dragon Ehil Tou.

With the completion of Shadobringerd 5.3, I suspect that the popularity of the Crystal Exarch, G'raha Tia, and other FFXIV characters has risen.

Also, I can't think of a single person who likes Stormblood's Asahi. He seems to be irredeemable. Maybe there are Asahi fans somewhere around the world. I just haven't met them yet.

  7. I think the reason people say arr is slow is to temper their expectations, so that way they appreciate it and the rest of the story more. my buddy kept hearing "arr is bad" when he played it he said "my expectations were low and arr was alot better than people said"

  8. You can totally get there. Just found your channel, but you are very well spoken and clear. Asmon/Zack indeed has talent or a skill that he has built up from all the hours he has spent streaming.

  9. I started playing last year and stopped around May, I just started back up at the end of July when the 2 week free sub was available and the one system I loved the improvement on is the Collectible system for Crafting and Gathering. It is so much better and easier to comprehend and how it works than what it was before, especially when it came to skill blot that was taking place with in these systems. I'm sure this was something from player feedback that caused this system to change.

  10. I'm a sprout and he's 100% right about figuring out how to buy the game is by far, the worst part about the game as a whole. As someone who has played WoW exclusively since 2007, and still very very early on in their FFXIV adventure, it's been a blast. The differences in the questing system is already apparent. I love that you're not compelled to do ALL of the quests in a hub, that you can just follow the main story and class quests and get 1 job finished. That way I can go through those side quests on alternate jobs later to help level them up. The 2.5 GCD doesn't bother me so much because I've played since TBC and as a Paladin, so I remember being an auto-attack andy for something like 51 levels before I got crusader strike. And the animations are so flashy and cool, and last almost as long as the GCD anyway, so even low level for me it's not that noticeable.
