Final Fantasy XIV v1.23b: MapViewer/Exporter + Unused Zones

Hello Adventurers! It’s been a while since I made a video! Today we’re going to look at the MapViewer/Exporter for Final Fantasy 14 1.0. as well as some unused content under the Ocean02 zone set! Stay tuned because in my next video I will show everyone my Unreal Engine Project!

Links to software to export Map files and textures (as well as extracting character models). I’ll reiterate this during my Unreal video.

  1. It seems like these might have been used later for Hullbreaker Isle; the island at first glance seems to be so. Changing the weather to fog really made it feel a little bit more 'complete' with that in mind, and considering the timing of when Hullbreaker released, they might have been working on it for 1.0 right on the cusp of deciding to abandon it.

Less certainly, the 'angel'/Llymlaen figurehead reminds me of Carvallain's ship in the first dungeon of Stormblood.

  2. So the majority of these things are background assets for a boat ferry. How they do ferrys in FF11 is the sameway they were doing them for FF14 1.0. Where 3D assets would move past the boat and fade out to fake it looking like you were really moving across the ocean. The boat is always static in a time limited instance. For the crashed ships. Way back in 2010-2011 Tanaka got up on stage and showed FF14 development footage. Some of the footage showed 2 pirate ships docking and a claw that could crash into the other ship to let players board it.
